Continuous assessment of employee performance helps organization to determine whether the performance of employee is aligned with the objective of the organization and this will ultimately help to measure the actual job performance vis-a-vis standard job performance. Performance Appraisal is an effective control technique and it requires standard information and corrective action. Performance appraisal is a contniuos Process Performance Appraisal is the continuous process that focus on organization objective, task accomplishment and personal development, it is an integral part of any system of management, by assessing the manner and method a manager can plan organize, staff, leads and control the employee. Performance Appraisal in an organization help manager in measuring , evaluating recording of his/her actual performance in other word performance appraisal is the formal evaluation of an individual job performance, it involve giving feedback to the individual and includes constructive solution for further improvement. performance appraisal influence both employee and organizational development It help in making effective decision regarding various pay raise, planning future performance goals, assessing the promotional potential of employee, and determining training and development needs Performance appraisal also provides feedback to employees, which help them improve their presents performance and plan future careers.

Validation of selection procedure/process Informal vs Formal Appraisal Informal Appraisal In Informal Appraisal continuous feedback is provided regarding the performance of employees, as a close interactive relationship exist between behavior and feedback, this feedback is usually spontaneously expressed or alternatively the subordinate can get immediate feedback from superior as and when job is completed.Hence the Informal appraisal is an integral activity of any organization.The feedback both verbal and written should be taken seriously and should be acted upon. Suggestions should be implemented. Informal appraisal usually occur on a day to day basis. Formal appraisal: Formal Appraisal are usually conducted annually or semi annually or an systematic basis. The main purpose of a formal appraisal is:

To help employee understand how their performance is evaluated To give employee a performance rating To identify those employees who perform well and reward them as per their performance and identify suitable candidates for promotion To identify employee whose performance is not up to mark and organize remedial measures such as training in order to improve their performance.

Therefor in order to motivate employee to perform in the best interest of the company, organization have to devise reward system that will inspire them to perform.although the traditional reward system such as compensation and promotion still remain popular the value of informal rewards, as the form of of employee motivator, is increasing, as today most organization used them.
