Christ the King Mission Statement

The People of Christ the King in Lombard are a welcoming, vibrant faith community building the kingdom of God through our many ministries. We celebrate our diversity, seeking to realize the gifts of each member of our parish, as we are all joined together under one faith, in a spiritual journey of evangelization, service to others, and a reverence for all life. In the Eucharist, we find new life, and bring this life to others through stewardship, education, and worship.

Celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday at Christ The King

Do you want to be as clean of soul as the day you were baptized? This is yours for the asking on Sunday April 15th, right here in our own parish. This is the grace offered to us from Jesus Himself when He told Sr. Maria Faustina that, "On the day of Divine Mercy the very depths of My tender mercy are open. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the Divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened".

Easter Messages from our Deacons

Greet one another with a holy embrace He is risen and the response Truly, He is risen. This is my greeting to you this Easter. May the Risen Christ, the Lamb that was slain as the Passover victim on Good Friday, fill you with His love and assurance that he died for the sins of all mankind. I thank my brothers and sisters in Christ for all the prayers, cards, calls and visits during my recovery from left knee replacement. And I thank the many of you who assist the work of Christ the King in so many service opportunities, those who help support our physical grounds and our efforts throughout the year. Celebrate Easter! If you check your Catholic calendar, youll see that every day this week is Easter. The season extends for a total of 50 days, until the feast of Pentecost. Be at peace, Deacon Frank Lillig

As we celebrate this magnificent feast of the Resurrection of Christ life seems to spring anew. I am reminded of all the loveliness that surrounds us in our liturgy, our sacraments and the many remarkable graces that flow from them. One of these blessed graces is my serving here at Christ the King with a remarkable staff and people who witness the beauty of our faith at every turn. It is the beauty of God's grace that fuels the love felt in this parish and from you. Thank you for your continuing support of my ministry as it is now. My life now has little semblance of what it used to be but this is God's will for me and I am at peace with it. You are all remembered daily in my holy hour and ask that you would do so for me. May the peace of the risen Christ bring a new light and life to your souls. Be not afraid. In Him, Deacon Wayne (with help from someone who loves him)

A Blessed Easter Season

Christ is risen!! Alleluia! All through Lent we have looked deeply into our hearts to refine our vision of Christ. Now we must focus on using Him as our example in everything we do. I have found in my personal reflection this Lenten season that I am truly blessed to be serving the Christ the King Parish as a Permanent Deacon. I want to personally wish all of you a very fruitful and blessed Easter Season. May the light of Christ always shine for each and every one of you as we continue our journey as the Body of Christ. Yours in Christ, Deacon Peter A. Robinson

Happy Easter! Happy Spring!

The early arrival of warm Spring-like weather is a delight to all of us. It means that winter is over. As the grass turns green and the trees and shrubs blossomed out, we see it as the triumph of life over death. And now, on Easter, we celebrate Christs Resurrection. We hear people say Spring is here! Enjoy! In the same joyful spirit, let us say Easter is here! Rejoice and be glad!
This spring is a good time to get out, try something different, plant some ideas and watch them grow. The Council of Catholic Women provides many opportunities to grow and learn and make new friends. This past year, with the help of our fellow parishioners, we managed many successful projects. And, we enjoyed doing it. It was a way to work together and be helpful. Being helpful and having purpose are two of the ingredients to happiness. CCW is always looking for help. You would be most welcome to join us in any of our projects. Our next meeting will be held on Monday, April 16th. Watch for more information here in the bulletin. We would be happy to see you! Many blessings and a very Happy Easter! Pat LeBeau - Publicity

Our Easter Mission

Have no fear. The outcome of the battle for life is already decided, even though the struggle goes on against great odds and with much suffering "Christ is now raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep ... so in Christ all will come to life again" (1 Cor. 15:2022). The paradox of the Christian message is this: Christ - the head - has already conquered sin and death. Christ in his body - the pilgrim people of God - continually suffers the onslaught of the Evil One and all the evil which sinful humanity is capable of. The liberating message of the Gospel of life has been put into your hands. And the mission of proclaiming it to the ends of the earth is now passing to your generation. Like the great apostle Paul, you too must feel the full urgency of the task: "Woe to me if I do not evangelize" (1 Cor. 9:16). Woe to you if you do not succeed in defending life. The church needs your energies, your enthusiasm, your youthful ideals, in order to make the Gospel of life penetrate the fabric of society, transforming people's hearts and the structures of society in order to create a civilization of true justice and love. Pope John Paul II to Youth, August 15, 1993, Denver, Colorado. Acts 10:34a, 37-43, Col 3:1-4 or 1 Cor 5:6b-8, Jn 20:1-9 or Mk 16:1-7 or, at an afternoon or evening Mass, Lk 24:13-35 There is no day on which it is easier to preach on the victory of life than today, the Feast of Life, the Feast of Christs victory over death. Easter makes it clear that being pro-life is not something that flows primarily from any political or ideological loyalty, nor simply from a cause, plan, project, or organization. Being pro-life, and all its other manifestations and activities, flow from what happened on Easter. Christ did not only conquer his death; he overturned the entire kingdom of death! On Easter, we do not come to Church simply to congratulate Jesus for rising from the dead. We come to celebrate the fact that we share that victory. We too, by living and dying in him, will rise in him on the last day. But this victory is also about today, because we share his risen life now. If we share his life, we are an Easter people, or as Evangelium Vitae says, the People of Life. This means that we proclaim this victory of life, and stand strongly against all the forces in our society that eclipse or destroy the value of life foremost among them all being abortion. We stand before these forces, not intimidated, hesitant, or unsure of our ability to overcome them. Instead, we stand before them in strength, declaring that they no longer have any ground to stand on, nor any place in our midst. Christ is Risen! On this day we preach with all the vigor and conviction that the Gospel inspires, and send our people forth to apply the Easter victory of Christ to every segment of society!
