REFLECTION

I have received an assignment on March 17, 2012 during the second interaction and I feel so excited that we have to write an essay on the places of interest in Malaysia for the English Language Proficiency 1 Subject (WAJ3102). It was very interesting topic to explore and I have planned ahead on how to come up with a good and interesting essay. The lecturer responsible for teaching us this subject Puan Siti Hawa bt Hasim is a very experience lecturer with vast knowledge in the subject she teach. She is very simple and relaxes while teaching us in class make me feels comfortable and enjoys listening to her lecture. While I am eager to start writing the essay, I face few problems in getting started and preparing the information. I am not used to write English essay. Another big situation that I face is time versus the current responsibility and work load as a teacher in SekolahKebangsaan Tunku Mahmood 1 and at the same times the responsibility as a mother of 5 small kids with age ranging from 6 months to 12 years old. But I tell myself not to use that situation as an excuse for not doing all out to complete the assignment.

I am a resourceful person and I am lucky that I am quite hands-on in resourcing and getting material on learning and teaching in school from the Internet. So in this situation I have not face any problem doing some research on the assignment. I find brochures about places in Malaysia. After gathering the necessary information, I decided to choose Melaka the Historical City as the main spot of my essay.

I am blessed and lucky because last two weeks our family received a visit from our relatives from Bandung Indonesia, so I took the chance to bring them to Melaka on March 20th. While we had a good time visiting all the places of interest, I utilized the time to collect and gather all the necessary information, brochures, pictures and other material for my essay. It is a truly exciting experience visiting Melaka and the feelings will be seen through the rest of my writing. I hope I can deliver the best in the essay.

After collecting material and resources, identifying the topic and choosing the destination, I started planning and crafting the required mind mapping to find the important content for my essay. I used MUET book and article on the Essay Writing Technique from the Internet. Finally I understand how to do it and started my 350 words essay. After finishing the essay, I get assistance from my sister to check the writing in terms of my language and vocabulary.

In conclusion, I realize that I really need to improve my proficiency in English language so that I can apply the right and correct English while teaching my students in class. I will strive harder to achieve my dream.
