Kind Attention Mr. Mathias Lehmann, UBF.

B Dear Sir, I thank you for your mail and congratulate UBF.B upon getting an appropriate business opening with VDA in the open field of Training. My views on the issues from your mail are as follows: a. I do realize the costs involved in getting UBF.B consultants qualified from VDA for imparting the trainings. If UBFB arranges for getting individual consultant qualified from VDA, then a bond could be executed by the individual consultant to serve CDA program of UBFB for certain minimum number of training sessions. b. Which courses might be particularly interesting for Indian companies or individuals?

ID 1407 Module B1 Process Audit VDA 6.3 Serial Production. This program could elicit maximum demand from Indian OEMs, Tier 1 & 2, as well as SMEs. (For QM methods, Tools and Practice as listed in the document; there are several inexpensive yet effective training options available in India. I do not see much prospect for this. In its place, module ID 2102: Compact Training QM methods may get some demand.)

ID 2114 DoE Test Methodology Design of experiments VDA 4 : In some Indian SMEs Shainin techniques of DoE get practiced. But Taguchi or Classic techniques may not have much demand. We must not look at the market for ISO 9001 and TS 16949 related trainings as there is ample and inexpensive competition in these areas.

c. How many of these courses per year might be requested by Indian companies or individuals? How many participants per course are appropriate? Once the courses start getting offered, it may take between 6 months to one year for this information to percolate not only to OEMs but also

to the tier 1 suppliers (who should be our target customers). The demand for the courses will peak in 1 years time. By the time it is 18 months to 24 months, un-authorized training organizations who can inexpensively meet the needs of Tier 1 & 2 suppliers (minus certification) will come up with their services. This is the time for UBF.Bs services to plateau out. A constant and sustained demand can continue thereafter. We ought to seek participation by a minimum of Seven Functional heads, seven of their deputies and one QM Representative. d. Should we offer the modules separately or week courses only? The training methodology, I believe, will be as per following sequence: 1. Basics of auditing Class room 2. Audit case study 1 GEMBA (Actual place of happening) 3. Analyzing Findings 1 Class room. 4. Audit case study 2 GEMBA 5. Analyzing Findings 2 Class room. And so on. Customer organizations will prefer to depute Functional Heads to attend these trainings. I do not think, any organization will depute ALL of its functional heads to the training programs for more than two days at a time. So we must think of splitting a six days program into three sub-programs of two days each. Also this will allow us to leverage the specific capabilities of our resource persons in the optimized ways. e. What kind of venue/rooms would be appropriate for this kind of courses? What time of the day should these courses be held? Should the courses be on weekdays or on the weekends? The courses must be location based. Customer organizations conference rooms should suffice. Obviously, the programs should be during working days. f. Would the courses also be interesting for companies operating in the twowheeler-business?

The OEMs for two wheelers will never find the VDA related trainings of much value. However, their Tier 1 & 2 suppliers always serve other organizations in the areas of say Automobile, Hydraulics, Compressors etc and based upon their customer-spread, some demand could be foreseen. g. What do you think of involving ACMA or local chambers of commerce? If there are any Auto-Clusters, involving their controlling bodies will help. h. We would like to know if you are willing to commit yourself to a training program on a regular basis and how many trainings you would be willing to conduct. I personally can commit to a minimum of 20 working days of training per month. However, this will require me to completely refuse lectures in Business Schools, which I am currently doing. These commitments for lecture are for a block of six months at a stretch. Regards, Yours Sincerely Kiran Walimbe
