Ashly Oehler English II Mrs. Caruso Book Proposal First close your eyes. Picture a quiet home in the Victorian era. The home is quite extravagant, filled with knickknacks that have been collecting dust as well as dark, eerie unfilled rooms. The owners of this house have already withdrawn to their separate rooms and the housekeeper is finishing up her duties. All is quiet when suddenly a scream is heard that can make chills run down your spine. Nurses, maids and doctors seem to be coming out of the floorboards to attend to this shrieking man. He goes unconscious and is rushed to the hospital. Three days later, after suffering excruciatingly, this man is dead. That story is not fictional. That is the setting and on goings of a real murder case, one that still remains unsolved today. Books have been written, TV shows have been aired and movies have been made all dealing with this murder. But all are unlike the book about to be presented. This book will deal with the main solid facts from this case, yet with twists and turns that will leave the reader begging for more. Books that fit within the murder mystery genre seem to have an immense popularity among a wide range of readers. Sherlock Holmes novels and Agatha Christie books are now classics that everyone is familiar with. This book will be no

different. It will pull in the readers like a fish on a hook and have them enthralled within the pages of what is soon to be a classic detective novel. This soon to be classic will include all the makings of a great detective novel, the brilliant but wacky detective, an all but boring murder case and a group of suspects that keep you playing guess who. But in this books case, the murder is real. Image this: death, poison, abuse, alcoholism, seduction, affairs, attempted murder and the guilty trying to flee. Sound like the makings of a fabulous book, huh? Well they are and they are all aspects of this new book. The fictional Edward, known as Ned, Hastings plays the part of the detective and narrator of this story. Hes an English bloke with a taste for a good swig of whiskey and a blow of his pipe. He learned his impeccable detective skills from his late grandfather when he was a child. He spent his life in and out of trouble and knows the inner workings of an insane mans mind. He has solved every case that has been thrown at him although not in the most professional and appropriate ways. He has been called in to assist with solving this case and from there the story unfolds. Ned soon meets each suspect and attempts to put together clues. He is first seduced and then attacked by a hired hit man. These events start to make certain parties look even guiltier. When he finally reveals the killer, they flee and a chase begins. The reader will be suspicious of each character and will never expect the twists and turns contained in this adventurous mystery.
