Requirement in preparatory processses for Air Jet Spinning

1) The production of yarn directly from draw frame slivers requires a draft in the range of 120 to 200 in Air Jet Spinning. 2) It requires a sliver that should be getting from less number of doublings. Air Jet spinning need not to increase the number of doublings of the sliver, nor does it increase its short term and long term uniformity. 3) The delivery speed of draw frames of 120 to 150 mts/min is complicated for finer yarns produced in Air Jet spinning due to directly reducing the weight of sliver at draw frame. 4) Slivers containing fibres with differing in staple lengths develop restraints, leading to irregular drafting. So, for Air Jet spinning, combed long staple cotton is preferred for blending or synthetic fibres with even cut lengths gives regular drafting in Air Jet spinning. 5) Multiple draw frame passages should prefer to optimize fibre orientation in the sliver. Three passages of drawing are preferred for Air Jet spinning. 6) A study shows that the third passage of drawing sliver reduces spinning stops by 50% when compared with second passage drawn sliver. 7) Imperfections and yarn evenness are decreased as the no. of draw frame passages was increased from 2 to 3. 8) The direction of presentation of sliver plays an important role in determining the properties of yarn. 9) The highest orientation index is obtained by presenting the material with majority hooks as trailing at all directions except at the final draw frame passage.

10) For Air Jet spinning, presentation of Trailing-Trailing-Leading-Trailing hooks shows the best result in terms of yarn tenacity, elongation and evenness. 11) Draw frame with auto leveled sliver also decreases the I.P.I & Yarn evenness. 12) Three passages sliver gives stronger yarn when compared with two passages sliver 13) Sliver CV% should be maintained below 3%, it helps to maintain the quality of spun yarn and reduces the ends down 14) Uncarded cotton balls of large size and foreign matter in the sliver must be eliminated as far as possible. 15) In case of P/V blending, blow room blending produces yarn with higher tenacity as well as lower strength CV% when compared with that of draw frame blending. 16) The breaking extension i.e. Elongation of blow room blended is higher than that of draw frame blended yarn. 17) Yarn produced by draw frame blending shows lower irregularity and imperfection levels. 18) But in case of P/C blends, draw frame blending and blow room blending do not shows any significant differences in yarn properties 19) For 100% cotton spinning, a combing process is required to reduce the length variation as well as to improve the purity of cotton fibres.
