Rules of Voice Change

I am a student- if it is a sentence then what is voice. Actually voice is nothing but oral form of a sentence. So, sentence is in written form and voice is in spoken form. There are two types of voice. These are: 1. Active 2. Passive

Why a voice is active and why a voice is passive? Active Voice: A voice is active when subject of verb is active. It means the doer of a verb is present in a sentence or voice. For example: We play football. Here verb is play. Who is doing this verb? It is we. So the agent is present or active here and thats why it is called active voice. Subject is active here.

Passive Voice:

Now see these sentences: 1. Football is played. 2. Football is played by us.

Lets see the first sentence. Verb of this voice is be. Now ask this verb be who/ what is his agent. You will find no one. So, subject is inactive or passive here. Thats why it is called passive voice. Now see the second sentence. Here subject is added with the help of by. So can say that subject of this voice is still indirect or passive. Thats why it is a passive voice.
