UN]T 2 , A PEDALCYCLIST, WAS NORTHBOUND 2600 SOUTH EELT LINE RD IN THE NORTHBOUND LANES, ATTEMPTING TO CROSS THE ROADWAY IN A NORTHWESTERLY DIRECTION. UNIT 1 COLLIDED FRONT LEFT WTH THE REAR PORTION OF UNIT 2'S BICYCLE. UNIT 2 AND ITS OPERATOR WERE PROPELLED TO THE NORTHWEST COMING TO REST IN THE SOUTHBOUND IANES OF 2600 SOUTH BELT LINE RD.
IT IS THE II{VESTIGATING OFFICER BELIEF THAT THE SPEED OF UNIT 1 WAS A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR ON TI.IIS COLLISION. SGT. AURENTZ #}174, SGT. J. HARRIS *4362 AND SR. CPL. D. FRYKHOLM * 6389, DETERMINED THE SPEED OF UNIT 1 MNGED BETWEEN 69 MPH ANO 72 MPH FROM DATA GATHERED FROM UN]T 1'S COMPUTER SYSTEMS. UNIT 1 BY STATUTE CAN NOT CARRY A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR OF SPEEDING TMNSPORTATION
COOE 545.365 a.(2). UNIT 2 FAILED TO YIELD RIGHT OF WAY TO A VEHICLE. UNIT 2 WAS IMPROPERLY CROSSING THE ROADWAY, AND WAS NOT NEAR AS PRACTICABLE TO THE RIGHT CURB OR EDGE OF THE ROADWAY. UNIT 2 WAS NOT EQUIPPED WTH A FRONT WHITE LIGHT, REAR RED LIGHT, OR VISIBLE REO REFLECTORS. OPERATOR 2 WAS NOT WEARING A HELMET OR BRIGHT AND REFLECTIVE CLOTHING. THE CITY STREET LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING IN THE AREA OF THE COLLISION AND CAUSED THE ROADWAY TO BE DARK PEDALCYCLIST WAS TRANSPORTED TO BAYLOR HOSPITAL PRIOR TO IO ARRIVAL, THIS OIAGRAM WAS MAPPED BY OFFICERS: SGT J. HARRIS # /KI82, SGT G. BROWN #4362, SR CPL J. I.AWTON 3247, AND SR CPL D. FRYKHOLM #6389.
