WORK INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFETY

1. COMPRESSOR SAFETY. 1)The safety valves provided on the machine. The function of these valve is to permit air to escape to the atmosphere in the event of the air pressure exceeding the pre-set pressure. Safety valve set pressure: 1)2.5 kg/cm2, 2)7.5 kg/cm2, 3)22 kg/cm2 , 4)60 kg/cm2 ,These to be checked yearly once. 2) Compressor lubricating oil consumption must be checked regularly. 3) Air compressor low oil pressure and low water pressure safety switch have been incorporated. Because these will prevent seizure in case the oil pressure falls down specified limit. a)Cut of oil pressure should be adjusted----- 1.5 kg/cm2 b) Cut of water pressure should be adjusted-----1.5 kg/cm2. 4) Compressor , motor and gear box coupling guard to be fixed properly on position. 5) Compressor pressure gauge and safety valve should be inspected yearly once. 6) Electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance done as per manufacture manual (SMS /02/A/002) 2. AIR SEPARATION UNIT SAFETY. 1) All personnel being employed for work in connections with oxygen/rich air should be cautioned concerning the hazard involved and precaution to be observed. 2 ) Oil or grease or similar substance must not be allowed or contact with oxygen gas or oxygen liquid. 3) Contact grease or oil with 0xygen may be result in explosive. 4) Through wash all oxygen fittings valves and parts with clean CTC ( carbon tetra chloride) before installation maintenance. 5) Do not permit the release of acetylene or other flammable gases in the vicinity of the plant air intake. 6) A concentration of acetylene exceeding 5 parts per million in liquid o2 may be explode with extreme violence. 7) Oil spillage must be cleaned up immediately using rag and CTC or TEC. WORK INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFETY

8) Do not lubricate oxygen valve regulators, gauges or fittings with oil or any other substance. 9) Do not fasten electric conduits to the plant or its pipeline. 10) Do not use oxygen as substitute for compressed air, spark present in the atmosphere of oxygen will immediately burst into flame. 11) Contact with liquid oxygen / rich liquid will cause frostbite evidence by whiteness and numbness of the skin. 12) Do not breathe cold o2 vapour because the temperature of the vapour rising from liquid oxygen approximate -180o c. A deep breath of vapour at this temperature can result in frost-bitter lungs with resultant serious illness and permanent disability or death. 13) Do not experiment with liquid oxygen by putting solids or liquid in to it for the purpose of watching the effect of the cold liquid. 14)The object placed in the oxygen may catch fire or explode. 15) The use a flame (welding and cutting) in the immediate vicinity of ASU or inside plant or pipe must be permitted only when the plant has been shutdown oxygen percentage does not exceed the atmospheric normal 21% 16) Do not attempt repair until all pressure is released from the section to be dismantled. 17) In general fluid at high pressure and moving at high velocity are most dangerous . It is to be Handle careful. 18) Use a face shield or chemical type safety goggles when using the o2 and N2 test set to prevent possible injury to the operator. 19) Check safety valves and bursting discs every 3 months. 20) Wear EAR-PULG when plant running condition. 21) Always keep the liquid oxygen pump parts and pump unit free from oil or grease. 3. EXPANSION-ENGINE SAFETY 1) Safety valve and bursting disc is provided in the air outlet line before air 8 kg/cm2). (this safety is set to blow

2) If the power supply fail for expansion engine there would be no breaking of the engine speed, which will rise rapidly. To prevent this two safety features have been provided. 3) If the power supply fails a solenoid valve will operate in oil system closing the inlet valve. PREPARED BY APPROVED BY

WORK INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFETY

4) A lever type load/ unload valve is provided in expansion engine which can be operated by hand. This will close the air inlet to the engine.

4.GENERAL SAFETY 1) All persons should be use PPE for their safety. 2) Helmets and safety shoes are compulsory. 3) Safety belts to be used whenever person is working for eight more than 6 feet. 4) Proper ear thing to be ensured for welding machine. 5) Any damaged part to be taken for repair immediately. 6) Work permit system should be taken in necessary places. 7) For electrical maintenance take line clearance . 8) Compressed air should not be used for body cleaning . 9) Fire hydrant system should checked every month and kept emergency use. 10) During trial rotating parts, ensure coupling guard to be fixed on place. 11) Waste generated should be disposed properly. 12) No unsafe act/unsafe condition inside premises. 13) Smoking inside fencing the oxygen plant is strictly prohibited. 14) Oil or grease or similar substance must not be allowed to come into contact with compressed oxygen or liquid oxygen. Contact of these substance may be explosive 15) Never work alone because high pressure fluid.
