HiPath 4000 IP-PBX; PBX Germany North America, EMEA, CALA, APAC 2002 6.0 2011/02U 12,000 per system (100,000 per network) 10,000 12,000 (IP/digital/analog) 77,000-228,000

HiPath 4000 supports up to 12,000 users (either TDM or IP) in one of three deployment options (as of V6.0): 1) Traditional Compact PCI (cPCI) chassis, with Duplex or Separated Duplex redundant architecture or 2) software running on an industry standard server (Linux operating system) or 3) an Access Rack-mount option (as of July 2011) that includes rack-mountable 1U appliance(s). With the traditional deployment, the Compact PCI or cPCI chassis, a single server is built with 30-inch or 19-inch free-standing or rack-mount components. Users can be distributed via survivable Access Points that support line and trunk cards with access to all features and centralized applications even if the main HiPath 4000 server fails. Calls between IP endpoints are switched in the IP network, requiring no gateway connections and allowing a single IP gateway to control up to 240 IP endpoints. A base 12,000-user IP system (without Access Points) can be built with less than 15 shelves (typically). Larger, networked configurations (up to 100,000 users) are possible and manageable as a single system using CorNet over IP or TDM. Two types of direct-connect Access Points are available. HiPath AP 3300 (30' stackable unit, 16 slots, 1 central slot, power supply redundancy); and AP 3700 (19' stackable or rack-mount Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise IP-PBX; PBX France North America, EMEA, CALA, APAC 2000 9.1 2010/11U 25,000 (IP) per server; 600,000 (IP) per network

10,000 (analog, digital or IP) per server 5,000 (analog, digital, SIP); 15,000 (IP) per server 300,000 per server The OmniPCX Enterprise (OXE) client-server configuration offers distributed processing, switching, and power supply, as well as Ethernet connectivity, and main CPU duplication in all configurations. The architecture consists of the Enterprise Communication Server software engine running on either a CPU board in a media gateway (IP Rack Server or IP Crystal Server) or a LAN-connected industry-standard IP Appliance Server, supporting IP-based endpoints and legacy TDM endpoints connected via a media gateway. A stand-alone server supports up to 5,000 analog or digital stations or 15,000 IP stations; however, up to 250 systems can be networked to support a maximum of 50,000 analog or digital stations or 100,000 IP stations. Specifically, per server capacities are: 10,000 trunks (analog, digital or IP), 5,000 analog or digital stations, 15,000 IP stations and 15,000 total ports (analog/digital) or 25,000 total ports (IP). Per network capacitites are: 500,000 trunks, 100,000 IP stations or 50,000 analog or digital stations, and 550,00 total ports (analog/digital) or 600,000 total ports (IP). Several media gateway chassis and cabinets are available and can be combined to create configurations up to the maximum system capacities shown above: a 3-slot Rack Mount 1 (RM1), supporting up to 32 digital/analog users, or a 9-slot Rack Mount 3 (RM3) supporting up to 80 digital/analog users. Up to three RM1 and RM3 may be stacked to form a single media gateway with up to 250 analog/digital phones Avaya Inc. ComScendo on a Button is an XML-based phone application (600 entry licenses) that provides fast access to information about the calling party as well as access to PC applications initiated during actual call via single button access to LDAP directories (works with any device that has a display (e.g. optiPoint or optiClient) and has four basic features 'easyLookup' (Easy Corporate Directory (LDAP) Access during all call states from user device); 'easyMail' (Automatic start of empty Email Window on PC pre-filled out for all participating parties); 'easySee' (Display of Corporate Directory Business Card in the PC s Web-browser); 'easyShare' (Automatic Start of Microsoft NetMeeting for all participating

parties). Up to 83 Access Points can be distributed over an IP network for a maximum of 12,000 station users. Larger, networked configurations (up to 100,000 users) are possible and manageable as a single system using CorNet over IP or TDM. Networking via ISDN or IP via Siemens CorNet-NQ protocol provides the following feature transparency: centralized administration, centralized messaging (Xpressions), centralized attendant, call pickup, call park, call forwarding, callback on busy/no answer, least cost routing, call waiting, camp on, CDR, conference, hold, hot line, hunt group, message waiting, night service, recall, speed dial, transfer, ANI/DNIS, dialing plan and DID. HiPath 4000 SoftGate is a software application that replaces the IP Distributed Architecture or IPDA (Siemens hardware remote shelf) with a software option running on IBM or Fujitsu Siemens servers (requires HiPath 4000 V5 or higher). Previously, Siemens IPDA was used to tie in remote offices by deploying a HiPath Access Point (AP) in the branch office. HiPath Hospitality for midsized to very is unlimited; however, the client cannot be an OmniTouch agent or attendant (features not supported include dial by name, mini messaging, alarm set, more than 3-party conferencing, and message notification via LED or icon). Alcatel-Lucent also offers a Free Seating application. Up to 250 nodes can be networked to deliver features as a single, fully transparent system (50,000 analog/digital stations or 100,000 IP stations) using the QSIG-based, digital Alcatel-Lucent Signaling protocol called the Alcatel-Lucent Business Communications (ABC) protocol with centralized features such as call park, conference, call pickup, text mini messaging, call forwarding, centralized attendant, and more. The system supports Voice over IP networking, Voice over Frame Relay, Voice over ATM, ISDN, PSTN, or leased line networking. UP to 255 sub-networks can be connected with a subset of feature transparency.

Three options are available for branch office connectivity: (1) Small branch offices can utilize the OmniAccess 5xxx unified service gateways series with SIP proxy, along with Alcatel-Lucent IP phones (dual stack SIP and NOE protocol) or third party SIP phones which can access the SIP proxy in case of WAN outage; (2) Mid-size or large branch offices can deploy a range of media gateways with survivability options for local endpoints and off-net communications (OmniPCX Enterprise Media Gateway PSTN back up supports PSTN voice access, shared resources and digital/analog ports with no additional hardware, PSTN survivability); (3) Mission critical branch offices can deploy the OmniPCX Enterprise Passive Communication Server (PCS), an appliance server or OmniPCX blade (works over any WAN access infrastructure, supports full feature survivability). For a branch office solution, it is also possible to deploy the smaller OmniPCX Office (OXO) system at the remote location, with central management using Alcatel-Lucent's OmniVista 4760 management platform. Or, a transformation program is available to migrate an OmniPCX Office into an OmniPCX Enterprise media gateway. Optional unified messaging and AlcatelLucent's OmniPCX Enterprise CCx ACD application are available. Alcatel-Lucent's 4635 voice mail system supports voice and fax messaging, networking via AMIS, VPIM, Octelnet, and is integrated into the OmniPCX Enterprise via a circuit board in the VH, WM1, M2 or M3 chasses (up to 64 ports, 500 hours storage, 15,000 mailboxes). The AlcatelLucent 4645 software-based voicemail system may run with the ECS software engine on the IP Appliance server or RM1/RM3-based CPU or on a separate server (up to 16 simultaneous accesses, 200 hours storage, 1000 mailboxes); 4645 is compatible with IMAP4 for voice and fax message management on a PC via any IMAP4-compliant mail client. The OmniTouch Instant Communicator Suite (ICS) (formerly Unified Communications Application Suite) includes a service called My Instant Communicator (OmniTouch 8600 My Instant Communicator). With a single license and using any device (PC, IP Touch telephone, mobile device), the user can take advantage of the following Alcatel-Lucent applications (previously, one license was

required for each application): Telephony Services (formerly My Phone), Messaging Services (formerly My Messaging), One Number Services (formerly My Assistant), Teamwork Services (Instant messaging and Video from My Teamwork) and Presence Information (telephony and instant messaging). My Instant Communicator Mobile i th f th ICSf ti lit agents or changing skill assignments; CMS can communicate with up to eight ACDs. Optionally, Avaya's Interaction Center enhances the traditional ACD by incorporating advanced contact center features such as Web Chat, E-mail Response, and Web CallBack. Networking capabilities include a uniform dialing plan, caller ID information, centralized attendant service (CAS), centralized voice messaging, and QSIG. Up to 63 nodes can be networked using TCP/IP, ISDN PRI, BX.25 (private), QSIG or DCS (Avaya's proprietary network protocol); DCS networking supports the following feature transparency: uniform dialing, leave word calling, Caller ID Name/Number, centralized messaging, call forward, call waiting, conference, call coverage, auto callback, distinctive ringing, transfer and attendant display. Avaya offers Media Gateways to connect branch offices to an Avaya Media Server running Avaya Communication Manager software at a main location, extending applications to a branch office and also providing continued operation should the connection to the main server fail. G150 and G250 Media Gateways are designed for offices with fewer than 15 people and both house a Wireless Access Point, a LAN switch and a WAN router in a compact, standalone unit. Avaya's modular G350 Media Gateway targets branch locations with 8-40 users, G700 supports mid-sized branch offices with more than 40 seats, and IG550 Integrated Gateway (2-100 users), which inserts in a Juniper J-Series Services Router, offers Standard Local Survivability. Avaya also offers the R300 Remote Office Communicator that connects a remote office to the system via a WAN using T1 (later releases will support E1 and ISDN BRI); all Communication Manager features are enabled at the remote location. Each R300 supports 24 digital voice ports and can be administered

remotely via the WAN (a maximum of 250 R300 units). An Avaya Communication Manager configuration can use an S8510 or S8800 Server as a Survivable Core Server (formerly called Enterprise Survivable Server) which allows backup servers to be placed in various locations in the customer s network. These backup servers assume call processing control if the main server, either the S8510 or S8800 Server, fails or network connections to the main server fail. A main server supports up to 63 Survivable Core Servers. For remote locations, a Survivable Remote Server can be deployed to register IP phones and media gateways if the primary controller (main server) is lost. A UC package comes free with Avaya Communication Manager Enterprise Edition (or $50 per user license for Standard Edition) and is comprised of the following six elements: (1) Avaya Communication Manager software Release 5.0 or higher, (2) Avaya one-X Communicator softphone client, (3) Avaya one-X Portal desktop Web browser client, (4) Avaya one-X Mobile client for cellular smart phones (Symbian, Windows Mobile, RIM, Palm, Java, Apple iPhone), (5) Avaya Extension-to-Cellular (mobile twinning; one number access) and (6) Avaya VPNremote software (plug an Avaya IP phone in anywhere and use the corporate network). Associated hardware (servers) must be purchased separately, such as for Application Enablement Services (for integration with Microsoft Offi C i IBM L 8 von 19 22.02.2012 11:30

Side-by-Side Comparison System 2.0 http://www.telecomtactics.com/cgi-bin/sxs/sxs .pl software running on an industry standard server (Linux operating system) or 3) an Access Rack-mount option (as of July 2011) that includes rack-mountable 1U appliance(s). 2. With the traditional deployment, a single server or Compact PCI (cPCI) chassis is built with 30-inch or 19-inch free-standing or rack-mount components. Users can be distributed via survivable Access Points that support line and trunk cards with access to all features and centralized applications even if the main HiPath 4000 server fails. Larger, networked configurations (up to 100,000 users) are possible and manageable as a single system using CorNet over IP, TDM or ATM. The system supports both packet-switched and circuitswitched telephony, allowing an all-IP solution, an all circuit switched solution, or some combination. 3. HiPath 4000 is a Converged System that uses a combination of both circuit and packet switching. Calls between IP endpoints are switched in the IP network (peertopeer connections). Calls from TDM devices to IP endpoints require the HiPath HG 3500 family of IP line and trunk gateways. TDM calls within an Access Point are switched via TDM switching, while calls between IP-Access Points are switched over IP. Users connected to Access Points in distributed configuration over an IP network will function as if directly connected to the main HiPath 4000. Endpoints can be connected to any Access Point regardless of time zone (Version 3 and higher). 4. HiPath 4000 V4 systems introduced Comscendo Plus (HiPath 4000, Xpressions and CTI licenses) which includes all the functionality of the earlier Comscendo, but adds a HiPath Xpressions V5.0 Voice User License and a HiPath Xpressions Basic CTI Client with each ordered HiPath 4000 ComScendo Plus license. 5. Customers can choose from a variety of telephone options since HiPath 4000 connects to TDM and IP phones, as well as mobile WLAN and

DECT devices and soft phones, including OpenStage TDM and IP phones that incorporates innovative features such as push-to-conference and presence-based calling, while standards like Java, HTML, WML and XML enable support for customizable third-party applications. The top end models feature color displays and Bluetooth compatibility. 6. If IP network fails or does not provide specified voice quality, then the PSTN can be used as a backup network, using station and trunk modules for access. 7. Applications are administered and controlled from one central system; these include HiPath Xpressions (Entry, Standard, and Advanced) for unified messaging, HiPath Teleworking for remote users, and HiPath ProCenter (Entry, Standard, and Advanced) for call center functionality. 8. Networking via ISDN or IP via Siemens CorNet-NQ protocol includes the following feature transparency: centralized administration, centralized messaging (Xpressions) centralized attendant environments. The Enterprise Communication Server software runs on either a CPU board in a media gateway or a LAN-connected industry-standard IP Appliance Server, supporting IP-based endpoints and legacy TDM endpoints. Several media gateway chassis and cabinets are available and can be combined up to the maximum system capacity (25,000 IP ports per server). Up to 250 systems can be networked to support up to 50,000 analog/digital stations or 100,000 IP stations. 2. Alcatel-Lucent uses a standard operating system (Linux) and standard application interfaces such as CSTA, TAPI, JTAPI, TSAPI, XML, HTML, Java, SIP, DHCP, LDAP, and H.323. 3. R9.0 added a native SIP controller embedded in the OmniPCX Enterprise engine which controls SIP endpoints. SIP trunking is supported via SIP service providers. Also, an integrated multi-function VoIP card can be used to packetize voice traffic for transmission over a LAN or WAN via an integrated H.323 gateway; the card manages remote shelves over IP, IP trunking, IP phones, and H.323 clients. 4. Optional unified messaging, contact center and a hotel software are available, as well as

the the OmniTouch Instant Communicator Suite (ICS) (formerly Unified Communications Application Suite) which includes a service called My Instant Communicator (OmniTouch 8600 My Instant Communicator). With a single license and using any device (PC, IP Touch telephone, mobile device), the user can take advantage of the following Alcatel-Lucent applications (previously, one license was required for each application): Telephony Services (formerly My Phone), Messaging Services (formerly My Messaging), One Number Services (formerly My Assistant), Teamwork Services (Instant messaging and Video from My Teamwork) and Presence Information (telephony and instant messaging). My Instant Communicator Mobile is the name for the ICS functionality over a mobile device such as Nokia and Windows Mobile devices. 5. Alcatel-Lucent's 4635 voice mail system supports voice and fax messaging, networking via AMIS, VPIM, Octelnet, and is integrated into the OmniPCX Enterprise via a circuit board in the VH, WM1, M2 or M3 chassis (up to 64 ports, 500 hours storage, 15,000 mailboxes). The Alcatel-Lucent 4645 voicemail system is software based and may run with the ECS software engine on the IP Appliance server or RM1/RM3-based CPU or on a separate server (up to 16 simultaneous accesses, 200 hours storage, 1000 mailboxes); 4645 is compatible with IMAP4 for voice and fax message management on a PC via any standard IMAP4-compatible browser. 6. Network Management can be performed via any Web-based browser or a Windows interface. Ccustomizable reports on VoIP traffic and VoIP quality are available. 7. The OmniPCX can manage up to eight foreign languages simultaneously with a selection of 52 languages/dialects. 8. Optional Active and Passive Communication Servers are used for redundant deployments. PCS provides call handling services to a media gateway or group of media gateways if the OXE communication server is unavailable. 9. Up to 250 nodes can be networked to deliver features as a single system (50,000 analog/digital stations or 100,000 IP stations) using the QSIG-based, digital Alcatel-Lucent Signaling protocol called the Alcatel-Lucent Business Communications (ABC) protocol with centralized features such as call park the S8800 Server Duplex consists of two servers, supporting larger businesses that require up to 36,000 endpoints (18,000 IP stations).

2. The Avaya S8800 Server uses Intel (Nehalem) processor technology and is available in both 1U (simplex) and 2U (duplex) form factors (Linux operating system). The 1U (simplex) version is used for most Avaya applications; however, the 2U version (the focus of this report) is recommended for applications that require a large number of hard disk drives or plug-in cards. 3. Endpoints and trunks connect to the Avaya Server via Avaya Media Gateways which come in compact, standalone, stackable or chassis-based form factors and are mixed and matched as needed to support analog, digital, IP, LAN and WAN interfaces. Each gateway supports a range of Avaya telephones (analog, digital or IP) and trunks (analog, ISDN, E1/T1, H.323 or SIP). As of Communication Manager R6.0, Avaya Aura Session Manager server(s) are used to support SIP endpoints, including those from Avaya, SIP phones formerly from Nortel and tested third party phones. 4. Avaya Media Gateways connect branch offices to an Avaya Media Server running Avaya Communication Manager software at a main location, extending applications to a branch office and also providing continued operation should the connection to the main server fail. Media Gateways are available in varying capacities and with different levels of functionality for small, medium and larger size offices. 5. A wide range of analog, digital, hard/soft IP and SIP telephones, WiFi, dual-mode and IP DECT wireless handsets are available. End user options range from entry level sets to advanced desktop sets and unified communications clients, such as the Avaya one-X Communicator that combines all communications on one client. A one-X business media phone blends telephone and PC functionality. 6. For redundancy and reliability, the S8800 Server Duplex consists of two, duplicated servers (with options for High or Critical Reliability). Software duplication shadows data between active and standby processors without specialized hardware. The S8800 Server has hot-swappable servers, UPS and RAID hard disk drives. 7. Additional survivability can be configured optionally. An Avaya Communication Manager configuration can use an S8510 or S8800 Server as a Survivable Core Server (formerly called Enterprise Survivable Server) which

allows backup servers to be placed in various locations in the customer s network. 8. Avaya Aura Communication Manager, as an Evolution Server, supports a variety of trunk and station interfaces (analog, digital and IP), 700 telephony features, and support for a adjuncts and software packages that enable traditional and advanced functionality - voice and unified messaging, hospitality, ACD, contact center IVR multi media conferencing 16 von 19 22.02.2012 11:30

Side-by-Side Comparison System 2.0 http://www.telecomtactics.com/cgi-bin/sxs/sxs .pl (Xpressions), centralized attendant, call pickup, call park, call forwarding, callback on busy/no answer, and least cost routing. 9. Small branch offices (less than 20 users) can be connected to the HiPath 4000 host system located at a main office; however, IP telephones located at the branch office rely on the availability of the IP network for operation. To ensure survivability at the branch office, a small HiPath 3000 system can be installed in case connectivity with the host is lost. 10. Several levels of redundancy are offered, including redundant Call Control processors, redundant power supplies and multiple standby line and trunk gateways that provide full redundancy for IP endpoints and trunking. 11. Wireless communication is supported via the HiPath MobileOffice Suite, SpectraLink 150 or Link 3000 WTS. Siemens HiPath MobileConnect fixed mobile convergence solution (available first quarter 2008) extends SIP PBX features and presence to dual-mode WiFi/Cellular handsets for one number/one mailbox functionality and seamless roaming between a corporate wireless LAN and a cellular network. 12. The HiPath CorporateConnect application (formerly HiPath Teleworking) gives mobile device users one number service employees can access to the enterprise telephone network and features (abbreviated dialing, conferencing, and least cost routing) using their corporate phone number whether they are in or out of the office and miles away. Employees can use any analog telephone, optiPoint or optiset E telephone or a Windows Pocket PC PDA device or a standard Web browser to manage real-time communications where there is wireless access, including WiFi 802.11b/e hot spots. The CorporateConnect application works with Siemens HiPath 4000 systems, as well as the legacy Hicom 300 system.

13. Parallel Ringing-One Number Service (ONS) enables incoming calls to be signaled at more than one destination in parallel (for analog, digital, IP cordless or mobile phones). One ONS group consists of one ONS master and two ONS members (within the HiPath network) and one optional external ONS member such as a mobile phone. 14. For hosted deployments or large, multi-site enterprises, new Virtual Numbering functionality allows the same station extension numbers to be assigned several times and also allows overlapping station numbers (such as 100 and 1000) that are differentiated by a virtual node ID. Three numbering plans are supported, including an ISDN numbering plan, a private numbering plan and a HiPath specific numbering plan. 15. Current or new HiPath 4000 customers considering a migration to the larger OpenScape Voice eventually can take advantage of OpenPath FlexLicensing that ports user licenses from HiPath 4000 to OpenScape Voice (and vice versa), dHiP th 4000 t with centralized features such as call park, conference, call pickup, text mini messaging, call forwarding, centralized attendant, and more. The system supports Voice over IP networking, Voice over Frame Relay, Voice over ATM, ISDN, PSTN, or leased line networking. 10. Alcatel-Lucent offers three mobility solutions for varying levels of service and features: (1) Remote Extension provides basic one number services on OXE (two devices on a single extension number, including any mobile device; no software client required) or (2) Alcatel-Lucent OmniTouch 8622 My Cellular Extension (formerly Advanced Cellular Extension or ACE) software client enables access to OXE features (compatible with most smartphones, including Nokia (E-series), Rim Blackberry, Windows Mobile 6.x; requires Remote Extension license on OXE) or (3) AlcatelLucent OmniTouch 8600 My Instant Communicator Mobile Edition (MIC) for advanced services on a smartphone such instant messaging, unified call log, enterprise directory access (requires 3G network, but can fallback to voice band signaling and maintain the same level of service;

14. For a branch office solution, it is also possible to deploy the smaller OmniPCX Office (OXO) system at the remote location, with central management using AlcatelLucent's OmniVista 4760 management platform. Or, a transformation program is available to migrate an OmniPCX Office into an OmniPCX Enterprise media gateway. 15. Specific Alcatel-Lucent IP phones, the Alcatel-Lucent 8 Extended Edition (EE) Series phones, support a SIP mode that automatically switches the phone to 'safe' mode if connection with the system is lost. While this ensures service continuity, the telephone feature set in the temporary SIP mode is basic (pre-programmed function keys are disabled). The phone runs in SIP mode until the connection to the system is restored; the user then can access the main telephone functions again. center, IVR, multi-media conferencing, presence, instant messaging and wireless. 9. Avaya regularly introduces new

technology and communications options. The S8800 Server supports Avaya Aura System Platform, a framework that leverages virtualization technology to enable a single server to run multiple Avaya applications at the same time. This deployment supports mid-size enterprises with scalability from 100 to 2,400 users and to 250 locations. The solution is packaged on a specific supported server, either the Avaya S8300D Server or S8510 Server or the S8800 Server or an HP ProLiant server and utilizes open standards-based virtualization technology from Xen (Xen Hypervisor); Avaya is actively evaluating other virtualization technologies to increase the options available to its customers. 10. For mobile workers, Avaya offers DECT and WiFi wireless systems and handsets, as well as its ExtensiontoCellular solution for mobile twinning and the Avaya one-X Mobile client for cellular smart phones (i.e. Symbian, Windows Mobile, RIM, Palm, Java, Apple iPhone). 11. Associated hardware (servers) must be purchased separately, such as for Application Enablement Services (for integration with Microsoft Office Communicator or IBM Lotus Sametime) and the Avaya Intelligent Presence server. 17 von 19 22.02.2012 11:30

Side-by-Side Comparison System 2.0 http://www.telecomtactics.com/cgi-bin/sxs/sxs .pl and HiPath 4000 customers can reuse hardware, including gateways, Compact PCI (cPCI) hardware and DECT equipment. Also, OpenScape User Management has a common console for both HiPath and OpenScape Voice administration. 1. For SIP telephones (optiPoint 150 S CAUTIONS: and optiPoint 410/420 S family), some HiPath 4000 system features are not supported such as group and directed call pickup, ACD, malicious call identification and programming of call forwarding. 2. Some typical system features are unavailable including LCD display messaging, recorded message service and remote access DISA that allows specified users to dial into the system from an outside location to access to system features and outside lines. 3. Some typical station features are unavilable including automatic hold recall, off hook voice announce, station/trunk queue with callback and call coverage that allows buttons to be shared or paired between users so that an unanswered call can be answered (covered) by the other user. Also, the system does not support Power Failure Transfer Phones which allows certain central office trunk lines to be directly connected to certain telephones in the event of a system or commercial power failure. 1. Though the system supports up to 15,000 IP stations per server, TDM stations and SIP endpoints are limited to 5,000 stations per server, but this requires combining several gateways. 2. The OmniPCX system supports the SIP protocol; however, Alcatel-Lucent IP phones are limited in terms of SIP support. Similarly, the system supports SIP-based phones from a variety of third party vendors through the Alcatel-Lucent Application Partner Program; however, the telephone feature set is more basic, though Alcatel-Lucent continues to enhance this support via testing with these partners. Note that Agents and Attendants

cannot use SIP endpoints. Alcatel-Lucent IP Touch EE Series phones operating in SIP mode cannot be connected to the system's native SIP Call Controller. 3. Some media gateways have been phased out, including the earlier 4-or 8-slot rack-mountable Voice Hub (VH) for up to 160 digital/analog users and 10-slot WM1 cabinet for up to 224 digital/analog users. 4. Alcatel s My Messaging voice mail/unified messaging solution is centralized, and as such, is not available if connection between a branch location and the OmniPCX Enterprise server is lost; however, branch locations can be optionally configured with Alcatel 4635 or 4645 voice mail/auto attendant so that if the call server connection is lost, voice mail at the remote site continues to function. 5. CPU duplication is an added cost. 6. Visit other TelecomTactics' databases for additional Cautions on phones and applications. 1. Not all maximum software capacities listed can be achieved simultaneously. 2. Features differ by type of phone. Some features require the use of an IP or SIP telephone, including Background Music and Saved Number Redial. Some features are not available for SIP phones such as Call Pickup Alerting which displays of calling and called party information (works on digital and H.323 IP phones only). Also, only the Avaya 96xx Series H.323 IP phones support the full range of Hot Desking features. 3. There is no smooth, economical migration for a customer with Avaya's IP Office system to migrate to the larger Avaya Communication Manager (formerly MultiVantage) systems, except that IP 4600 Series phones and 24xx digital phones are compatible, and Avaya 1600 Series IP phones are compatible, depending on the system software release (R3.0 or higher for Avaya CM and IP Office R4.2 4Q 2008 and higher). Note that the 4600 Series is scheduled for end of sale in 2009/2010 (see IP Telephones database for detail). 4. Dial plan supports from 7 to 13 digits; however, in a networked configuration using the DCS protocol, dial plan is limited to 3-5 digits or 7 digits using QSIG or CMS administered as a reporting adjunct. 5. Note the limits in using the Avaya 16CC SIP Phone; up to 2,500 phones allowed. 6. Telephone display messages are available in English (default), French, Italian, Spanish or one other user-defined language (requires 40-character display

phone); competing vendors may offer a wider selection of languages. 7. Note that software duplication may reduce system performance. Avaya recommends a dedicated duplication link for software duplication. Also, there is 25% performance decrease when encryption is used. 8. Software duplication requires specific network elements, including 1GB Ethernet, maximum of 8ms round trip delay and maximum of 1% packet loss. 9. Note that with Avaya's Unified Communications All Inclusive package, associated hardware (servers) must be purchased separately, such as for Application Enablement Services (for integration with Microsoft Office Communicator or IBM Lotus Sametime) and the Avaya Intelligent Presence server. 10. An upgrade from Communication Manager Release 5.2.1 on an S8800 server to Communication Manager Release 6.0 on an S8800 Server, requires the installation of four additional 2GB DRAM DIMMS since a total of 12GB of DRAM is necessary for R6.0. 11. Note that Avaya no longer sells the Branch Edition as of March 2010; existing customers can upgrade and add capacity until support ends December 31, 2011. Avaya recommends IP Office as an alternative for distributed branch office needs. 18 von 19 22.02.2012 11:30

Side-by-Side Comparison System 2.0 http://www.telecomtactics.com/cgi-bin/sxs/sxs .pl GENERAL COMMENTS: 1. HiPath 4000 is designed for medium- to large-sized enterprises; however, the HiPath 4000 can also fit the needs of small-sized businesses. As of the V2.0 architecture, Siemens no longer offered two models (HiPath 4300 and HiPath 4500). Rather, the HiPath 4000 scales from small configurations to 12,000 users (single processor) to larger systems with up to 100,000 users (multiple processors with added resiliency to hardware failures). Existing HiPath 4300 and HiPath 4500 customers who grow beyond the capacity limits of their system will need to add V2.0 hardware to expand. 2. As of V2.0 architecture, Siemens will no longer referred to a large 30,000-port configuration as the HiPath 4900 version (three connected HiPath 4500 systems with single management; HiPath 4900 supports 17,280 ports per single system with direct-connected shelves or 30,000 ports via a distributed Access Point configuration). 3. HiPath is the Siemens Enterprise Convergence Architecture that provides a migration path for customers to implement new applications while protecting their current equipment and application investment. Customers can move to IP at their own pace with HiPath s solutions for customer relationship management, web-based call centers, e-business, and mobile networking. 4. The Siemens HiPath system comes with a one year warranty for parts and labor. 1. The Unix operating system is not supported from R5.1 forward. 2. Alcatel-Lucent offers end-to-end LAN and IP Telephony via several enterprise offerings: the OmniSwitch 7xxx, 8xxx, 9xxx and 6xxx LAN switching product lines and the OmniPCX Enterprise PBX product. 3. Alcatel-Lucent offers a one year (from date of purchase) or 15-month (from date of manufacture) warranty on hardware and a

90-day warranty on software (from date of shipping). 4. OmniPCX Enterprise is RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliant as of June 2006 as far as banned substances being removed; soldering process will be lead-free in 2007. 5. Alcatel-Lucent offers migration packs for customers that want to upgrade from earlier PCX 4400 hardware to Enterprise hardware. This includes migration of CPU, boards and software licenses and applications such as voice mail, management (i.e. OmniVista) and Unified Communications/Collaboration. Certain 4400 cabinets can still be reused (M2 and M3 cabinets); however, the Voice Hub and Wall Mounted cabinets are no longer compatible as of release R8.0. 12. Avaya will no longer sell the S8800 Server as of June 6, 2011 since the Intel Xeon E5500 series processor will be going end of life; support will continue until June 6, 2014. Instead, Avaya will introduce support for HP and Dell commercial off-the-shelf servers beginning in November 2010. 13.
