Adopted Amendments Or By-Laws For COOKEVILLE Chapter No. 152 ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR COOKEVILLE, TENNESSEE March 14, 1961 By Laws ARTICLE I Name This Chapter shall be known as Cookeville Chapter No. 152, Order of the Eastern Star, under the Jurisdiction of the Grand Chapter of Tennessee, ARTICLE II Meetings A. All meetings of the Chapter shall be held in the Masonic Lodge Hall, Cookeville, Tennessee. B.. Stated meetings of the Chapter shall be held on the Second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 P.M. ©. Special meetings of the Chapter shall be called by the presiding officer, the object of the meeting stated, and all resident mem- bers notified. No other business shall be transacted at said meeting. 1 ARTICLE Il Fees, Dues and Compensations A. The fee for conferring the degrees of the Order shall be $10.00, which amount must accompany the petition. B. No fee shall be charged for affillation, C. The dues for each member shall be $9.00 per and shall be payable on/or a in abl ess of cs year, D. The Secretary shall receive $1.00 per meeting, for faithful performance of duties pertaining to said office, ARTICLE IV Arrears and Suspension for Dues A. The elective officers shall be elected annually, at the first stated meeting in Jan- uary, without nomination, by a written bal- lot, and by a majority vote of the members present and voting. The elective officers of the Chapter shall be Worthy Matron, Worthy Patron, Associate Matron, Associate Patron, Secretary, Treasurer, Conductress and Asso- ciate Conductress. 3 EB. The appointive officers for the stations of Chaplain, Marshal, Organist, Adah, Ruth, Esther, Martha, Electa, Warder and Sentinel, shall be appointed by the Worthy Matron- elect, Cc. Every Chapter shall elect a Board of Trustees, to consist of three (3) members, whose duties shall be to have charge of the property, paraphernalia, invested funds and realty of the Chapter, and shall make such report as the Chapter may direct. One (1) of these Trustees shall be elected each year, at the time of the election of Chapter offi- eers, to serve for a term of three (3) years. Nomination for Trustees are permissible, Trustees shall not be installed, but shall as- sume office at the time Chapter officers are installed. The Trustee having the shortest term to serve shall be chairman of the Board, ARTICLE VI Installation of Officers A. The installation of officers shall be held annually, on or before the thirty-first of January, at a stated or special, opened or closed meeting. B. Re-elected and re-appointed officers, as well as new Officers, must be installed. 4 c. No officer shall be installed by proxy. D. All officers shall continue to serve until their successors are elected or appoint- ed and installed. ARTICLE VII Commitices A. The Worthy Matron shall at the last stated meeting of the fiscal year, appoint an Auditing Committee of three (3) mem- bers, who shall examine the books, vouchers and accounts of the Secretary and Treasur- er, and make a report in detail thereon, at the first stated meeting thereafter. B, The Worthy Matron shall appoint such other committees as she may deem necces- sary for the best interest of the Chapter. ATICLE VII By-Laws Amended These By-Laws may be amended af any stated meeting, by a two-thirds vote of the members present, provided the proposed amendment shall have been presented in writing at a previous stated meeting and provided further that said amendment shall not conflict with the Constitution and Code 5 of Laws of the Grand Chapter of Tennessee, All resident members must be notified in writing of the proposed change, and of the time and place of the meeting when final action will be taken. The Grand Secretary shall be notified of such amendments which shall not become a part of our By-Laws until approved by the Grand Chapter. See Grand Chapter Code of Laws, Page 60, Section 8.
