Download & Install Instructions for Solid Works

Step 1 Go to http://www.mae.ufl.edu/solidworks . Log in: Username: solidworks Password: gators4uf11 Files are available for the 2010 version and the 2011 version of SolidWorks. We will be using the 2011 version in the Fall 2011and Spring 2012 semesters. If you are using Windows XP Professional, a 32 bit version of Windows Vista, or a 32 bit version of Windows 7: download the file SW-Install-Pack-2011.zip

If you are using the 64 bit version of Windows Vista or a 64 bit version of Windows 7: download the file SW-Install-Pack-2011-x64.zip

Step 2 Unpack the zip file and you should see the files: SolidWorksSetup.exe System Requirements.pdf

Check the System Requirements file to make sure your computer is compatible.

Step 3 Your computer has to remain on the network to install this software. Note: To run the software (after your installation is complete) you will need to be on the UF network. If you are off campus you will need to run the UF VPN software. Step 4 Start the installation by running SolidWorksSetup.exe. Click on unzip. After the files are unzipped, you will see a response box saying "Unzip Successful". Click OK and wait as the install process will then start automatically (after a brief delay - be patient). Step 5 During the install process you will be asked to enter the UF serial number. Enter the serial number: 9710 0073 6487 7809

from left to right and leave the last two boxes blank. Select Next.

Step 6 SolidWorks may check to see if there is a newer version available. If prompted, go ahead and select "Yes, I would like to get the latest version: 2011 SPx.x".

Step 7 At this point the install process will connect to the Solidworks servers. On the next series of windows select the default install options by clicking on next. When prompted for a license server enter: 25734@10.227.42.251 There will be a lengthy delay during the download and install processes.The download process typically takes 40 minutes and the install process takes another 50 minutes. The final screen will indicate a successful installation.

Note: If you are updating from an earlier version of SolidWorks, please do the following before you begin the new installation: uninstall the old version of SolidWorks go to the directory C:\Users\YourHomeDirectory\AppData\Roaming and delete any directories that have SolidWorks in the name.1 now install the new version beginning at step 1

The full name of the directory is as seen in Windows 7. If you have Vista or XP, there will be a similar directory. YourDirectoryName is your login name. The directory AppData is usually a hidden directory.
