Trim configuration options for automatic operation include wet pilot or dry pilot actuation at the designers preference. The valve shall come complete with necessary trimmings and shall have provision for local and remote emergency manual release means. DESIGN CRITERIA The working pressure and flow in the water spray (deluge) system shall be sufficient for the intended service. All mains, feedmains and branches shall be sized on the basis of flow requirements and necessary residual pressure. Hydraulic analyses shall include considerations of water hammer and pressure surges and incorporation of design features alleviating their effects. Provide a fixed water spray system as defined in the fire protection specific requirements and additional requirement as determined on the fire risk assessment. The system shall be a dry pipe open spray head system with automatic deluge valve to admit water to the system in the event of a fire. The deluge valve shall be automatic in operation from either initiation of a fixed temperature heat actuated detector, a local manual station or a remote manual station. The valve shall have a water flow switch, trimmings, alarm test connection, drain and gages. The deluge valve shall be capable of being manually tripped. All trim required for the valve, such as pipe, nipples, valves, check valves, and strainers shall be included. A Fire Department Connection (FDC) shall be provided for every deluge riser. The FDC shall be sized according to the calculated system demand of every system. Every FDC shall be fitted with UL listed check valve.
