Thinking Aloud

Who is a leader: a leader is one who sets the goal n gives dirn to the his team to achieve tht goal For organizations, leaders r the ones who decide the dirn an organization moves in, its long term plans etc. so as to maximize its wealth ultimately the purpose of any business is wealth creation n growth. So the job of a leader is to set the target n then strategize n put things in order to achieve tht.n in this process too much attention on the method, without being carried away by the intended outcome, as mentioned in the second option can lead to non attainment of the goal.in such a case the whole existence of the organization can be under cloud because in business nothing is whiteeverything is greythe only difference lies in the percentage of black in it.. Secondly when we say tht the leader should focus on the goal n not much on the methodwhy r we assuming tht it means he has to follow an unethical path..( if we can get a perspective on this) e.g. indigos aim is to be the fastest growing domestic airline.so wht should we expect the indigo leadership to do. 1. Always focus on the goaln strategize accordingly 2. Focus on the ways they operateeven if they end up being in loss Now the point here is nobody does business to de make losses..every country has a different atmosphere for carrying out business activities.now if we say tht in US southwest is not required to bribe the ministry to obtain priority slotsso even we wont do tht.indigo would never be able to survive in the market.because the context has changednow the end result is what.they r making money..they r in profit, n they r approaching their goalthere is a proverbevery disease requires a different medicine..but the goal is the same..to cure the disease.so a leaders job is to set the goal n then according to the context take decisions to achieve tht goal.a person who lets go of the goal can never be termed as a leader..

N also one thing is for sureevery decision which helps u achieve u r goal is good.n every decision which leads to failure is bad.. Even tallying the answers in exam is a wrong method.but once u a get a cgpa of 3..nobody remembers tht our 5 or 6 marks were saved because we tallied our answers..no interviewer would ever ask ththe will only see the goal i.e. the end result.similar is the situation in the business world .there also even single mark matters..

So leaders r the once who r expected to make u achieve what u want. ( nobody ever expects a leader to fail, even if tht failure was because he followed the right methods). So an overemphasis on the methods without giving consideration to the aim, especially when the context doesnt support tht is impractical. Hence a leader should always focus on the aim, see the context n then decide how to move ahead so as to achieve tht goalnot even for a single min a leader should think of letting go the aim. Success has the power to make bad moves look gud.at the same time failure also has the power to make gud moves look bad.. m not trying to defend unethical behavior..the only point is, if your context doesnt support full ethical behavior n movesthen every organization must have some space to accommodate for this aberration.rigidity in any sense is not good.but the ultimate aim is to be where u want to be.
