Chapter 1: Internet Apocalypso

Quotation:

for it is a sign of strength to be weak, to know it, and out with it..."

Herman Melville

people of earth . . ."Your choice is simple. Join us and live in peace or pursue your
present course and face obliteration. We shall be waiting for your answer. The decision
rests with you."

The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

Learning Expectations:

My learning expectation from this chapter is to explain to us why he named his

article the Internet Apocalypso because I am curious if apocalypso is the same as
apocalypse .I want to know the author’s basis in writing this piece and his intention to
his readers.
Other expectations are to encounter new and weird words in which he will use it
to explain briefly his ideas and accounts. It will enable the reader/s to be motivated in
enhancing their vocabulary and comprehension skills as the read the whole context.

Review:

The title of chapter 1 is Internet Apocalypso. It is divided into 7 different topics

which will be discussed through out the review. The first topic is the premature burial
which it states the cycle of life. It emphasize that life is to short because there is an
inevitable limitation, death but, because humans are intellectual beings other than other
creatures, they can explore and innovate things which everyone can imagine, seek for
companionship with other people and communicates with them. But, if those mentioned
above are being done because we are aware that we will experience death, the
company’s perception on managing their existence is through levering their decisions to
support their interests which is not similar to a person’s perception of surviving. The
second topic is testing, testing where it discusses the internet’s function on our daily
basis. At first, internet is being ignore due to the fact we want to still use the “”Firewall”
but as the time past the people are learning on its capabilities and features. It is used as

an interaction medium between two users or more where sharing of ideas and concepts
are being established, innovations such as games and other entertainment ideas booms
and freedom of expression is being valued. The third topic is Waiting Joe-six pack
where it states the possibilities of connectivity of people with each other through the use
of the internet and in return, they are unified and speak on same perspectives because
they are now free from their top management jurisdiction in communicating with each
other. Knowledge is now present and spread to the workers or unified people in which it
raises concerns and enthusiasms between them. The fourth topic is From Ancient
Markets to Global Networks where it tells the conception of ancient marketing until
present where language and conversation is always present. The transformation of
traditional marketing where markets are present due to the buy/sell and interaction with
other people are now change into a market that needs to be done in order to profit and
sustain their needs sanctioned by their top managements and there are no proper
relationship between the company and users. Being sanctioned by their top
management with limitations on plans or meetings, it deteriorates the skills of their
workers to think and stand for their own thoughts, deteriorates the capacity to develop
because they perform the similar task for the rest of their stay in the company and top-
bottom relationship is not being done properly. It also happens where the company
dictates the type of products must be used by the society instead of gathering
feedbacks from them to develop or create new things that might boost their influence to
the user as the main provider of their needs. The fifth topic is The New Workplace:
Breaking the Silence where the internet is accepted by the user as a tool in performing
their task and as communication tool while the companies wants to know if they
embrace this tool will it may affect the companies security or not but as I read the topic,
the companies are starting to used this as an advantage in enhancing their functions as
providers for their customers and workers. The sixth topic is The New Marketplace:
Word Gets Around which it is all about the experience of the main author, Christopher
Locke when he used the net as a medium in continuing his agenda, to share and talk to
other people under the radar of his company. The last and not but the least, the seventh
topic is the Prospectus, which is the wrap up of all the sixth topics discussed.

Learning Expectations:

Honestly speaking, I am eager to know the main purpose of the WEB because it
is used for entertainment, games, educational, advertisements and other purposes that
confuse the observant users including me in order to answer our questions for a while.
Other expectations is to explain the relationship of being manage, raising your
voice and most of all, hating you job which has no connection at all in using the web.

Review:

We are not yet sure what is the main purpose of WEB although we describe it on
how we use it and other thoughts from people’s opinions. So in order to search for
answers, the author figures the meaning of web through connecting it on ideas like
being manage and managing, raising your voice and hating your job. So, what does it
imply? By means of raising your voice, you can connect with others thoughts through
communication in which you can explore things although sometimes you are now
disregarding the traditional practices for certain offices. For example of memos
enclosed on a paper which is now can be done through mails or chat which lessens the
amount of trash and making yourself a “Hi-Tech Man” and through this you can manage
your files by saving on your desktops secured and safe. And now, the main purpose of
web is to make a new world were old practices are now considered as past and
considering to look forward.

The voice emerges literally from the body as a

representation of our inner world. It carries our
experience from the past, our hopes and fears for the
future, and the emotional resonance of the moment. If
it carries none of these, it must be a masked voice,
and having muted the voice, anyone listening knows
intuitively we are not all there.

David Whyte, The Heart Aroused

How do you scale one-to-one networking to reach thousands

and millions of like-minded netizens? Sure, I could do it
with a phalanx of smart people reaching out and touching
electronically, but then my fledgling companyís burn rate
would increase faster than I could raise capital. Where is
the balance there? Seems like any mass-produced message
(even tailored for a given "market") will be disingenuous
to the savvy.

Review:

Creativity on a person is being used or depends by other people in a workplace

because they can produce a product with the use of their head and hands. They believe
that good craftsmanship prefers for perfectiveness and smoothness of their work
specially in doing programs. For example, Web designing, every web page has a
person behind it that uses its creativity by the means of his head and hands in order to
explain its function whether with or without further communication because the art
speaks for itself.
Web ensures that the conversations are now faster, reliable and useful to its
users. They can now choose on different types of conversation tools which are: the
Email. Email is now considered worldwide as fast and reliable mailing media that
assures you that your letter will be sent to your specified destination and can be
respond immediately by the receiver or by the sender ones he/she receives the reply.
Next is the Mailing list, it can be categorized in two forms: the one way and the two way
list. The one way list can be sent to a large number of recipient but no opportunity for

conversation other between you and the receiver. On the other hand, the two way list
has an opportunity for conversation between all of your receivers or the entire group.
The next media is the Newsgroups; it is like a mailing list but a moderator or servers
which will facilitate the entire newsgroup. Chat is considered as the most realistic web
communication tool because they can interact with each other when all of them are
present although they are far from each other. And last but not the least, web pages.
You can view the person’s biography or any other information posted on his/her web
page.

Iíve spent the last two years "bringing fire to the cavemen" in the corporate world (specifically
fashion). They still donít understand the difference between a server, a browser, and content, but
they do understand that they have to be online. They think that a computer is just like a
television. That you can just scan some glossy print ads and throw them up on a site. No one
cares about usability. No one cares about being real.

Theyíre scared that if they donít make the jump to Internet marketing/selling that theyíll
lose their customer loyalty. Theyíre scared that if they do make the jump to Internet
marketing/selling that theyíll lose their customer loyalty. They ask themselves: "Is this
really us? Is technology part of our lifestyle/branding concept?" They say they donít
market to that demographic, but they know deep down inside that if they donít soon they
wonít have anyone to market to.

Sometimes I just want to scream.

- Garrison Keillor

Expected to learn:

My expectation from this chapter is to acquire new information about an idea that
might best describe the market. Knowing that market are conversations, still there are
facts that needs to show up as I read this chapter. As an IT student with a background
in business management, I believe that talking to other people is a key to success in my
business proposals or projects because as I begin my working career, the market is
filled with conversations that indeed, I will participate in.

Book Review:

Before the main discussion of the topic, a short story was stated about the
seller’s not good interaction with the public. The sellers are keeping their plans to the
public through cutting their communication with for a number of years. So, they hire a
marketing personnel on how he will plan to release the company’s new product but, the
marketer reacts about their strategy that results in a disaster. So, he explains and
demands what are the corrective actions they will do in order to solve the problem. After
he briefly explains, the management agrees for a while and then returns to their needs,
having a tagline. In this scenario, they ignore the ideas that might help to solve their
problems instead using it as their solution and advantage. Let’s proceed to the main

topic, Markets are conversation. People talk to each other, buy and sell products and
merge fruitful ideas that may describe the market best as the place where conversation
starts and ends. But, as the present becomes past and past becomes present, market
change fast. It turns into a face that annihilates its true meaning and turns into a place
where workers need to work in order to sustains their needs and has limitation and
control build by a management. The flow of transaction in the market is also been
change by this evolution. Advertisement and marketing of products is now being done
through web that sometimes destroys the concept of market until it struck our minds that
we want and will buy their product. Although, market is still present as they used that
medium mentioned above, still consumers crave for personal interaction between them
and the seller because it is the best way to advertise products. Because change and
evolution is constant, human conversation on the market is gone, not totally, but
temporarily because it is been placed by the web. The internet is place where users can
interchange ideas, give comments, release factual data about everything they feel that
needs to be shared and more. Due to the web’s presence onto them, they now know its
function: being connected to other people and it is getting faster and smarter. Because
there is a continuous conversation without the boundaries established like in a
company, the net serves us the tool to innovate things. For example, the creation of
linux, due to its versatility and flexibility, it can be configured by other programmers. Let
us go back to a certain topic why conversation in the market is not good some times
because, Bad PR is present. Having bad personal relationship to the public lacks
integrity and the justifications because it is only being done to cover something or give
information incomplete. But this problem can be resolve, interaction to the consumers
properly and successfully. After we have discussed the personal relationship idea in a
market, let us now direct our attention to the advertisements versus the word in the web
because the intensity of sales talk between you and the marketing personnel will prove
if the justification is somewhat similar with their advertisements. Based from the article,
advertisements on the web are only banners and promotions but not advertisements per
say, it act as an axe on our heads if it will strike us or not. But in order to counter this,
we ask questions from other subscribers on that specific product if it really suites their
standard or even yours. So, human conversation still is present but not in a form of
personal interaction rather through the web. As add-up info about design the web site of
your service or product, conversation is a good ingredient in making your site a
interaction area for your consumers. Let’s now discuss the pricing strategy in the web.
Pricing strategy is being done by the marketing in sadistic forms in order to sell it to the
consumers. So, the browsers tend to compare their interest by browsing over the net
that who will give the best price (still the price dictates the market) which means, the
cheapest price with the same specification and quality than other. So in order to
convince the mob, they direct their attention through hiring or quoting experts that may
explain and convince the browsers that their product is the best. There is also online
selling and buying and betting market. Betting markets like ebay, they allow the buyers
to dictates the price of a certain product and sell it to the highest better. Companies are
considering the facts that in order to sell their products effectively, they need a better
position in the market. Having a better position in the market is being done through
having good personal relationship with the consumers, strong conversation through
media types like web or pr, acceptable pricing of products. In this manner, the

consumers will get to know you and your services well but, they are still aware on the
authenticity of your name and product. To prove that your position in the market is true
and avoid identity crisis, having good market conversation which is true. Having a open
and willingness to listen to the user’s opinion will assure them that their needs are being
heard by the provider of their products.

What I’ve learned:

The whole context meets my expectation as I’ve read this chapter that markets
are conversation also evolves like us. From the traditional perception of marketing
through verbal and personal communication up to technological innovation that serves
as a channel in transmitting the conversation electronically. Updates can be acquired by
constant interaction with other people because learning can also be acquired from
them.

Quotation:

Literature is the question minus the answer.

- Roland Barthes

If love is the answer, could you please rephrase the question.

- Lily Tomlin

Expected to learn:

My expectation from this chapter is to know if there are possible answers that are
easy to do, regarding on the net to prove it is EZ. What are the reasons why it provides
answers to the questions stuck on people’s minds.

Book Review:

Markets have been the place for endless conversations. It started as talks and
debates throughout the market. The words being used are the local languages used
and it is been edited in a more meaningful as they convey with each other. But as the
industrial revolution started (during the discovery of machines and cloth manufacturing),
it changes rapidly. No more actual conversations, trading goods in the market are
vanished and resource acquisition from elsewhere is been replaced by manufacturing
goods on a certain area where nothing is like hell. Buyers became workers, sellers
becomes management or vise versa. Now products are being delivered to the user
mandatorily. Conversation disappears.

Machines are used on the production of new items like cars, dress, steels and
other materials which supports man’s daily living. So, manufacturing rises and slavery is
imminent. Top management is form to build rules and regulations which will be followed
by their poor workers. Processes are always followed all the time and the designation of
jobs on each individual is constant throughout his/her working career. In other words, no
personal development in work is taking place. Because the workers are being told on
what specific task they will perform, the right to speak and argue gradually disappears.
They are now like robots that are programmed to serve and protect their masters
according to their laws. If there are workers, there are managements. Managements are
like guards of the pharaoh that instigates on what type of manner on how they will
motivate their slaves to work. They impose guidelines and protocols that must be
observed if you are under on his/her jurisdiction.

As the time have passed, the top management notices that market expands
exponentially and because of its massive size, you can divide it into zillion micro
markets which is greater than billions or trillions. So, they realized that in order for them
to survive, communication must be revived in their management. Conversation is back
on its business. Ideas, debates and conversation are now present on the offices. But,
external communication must be done. So, they allow net to penetrate their hood.

Internet is now an ingredient in makin’ the spice of a system good. Through the
net, advertisements and promotions can now be seen globally. Interactions between the
consumer and the seller is now possible by just using the polls, survey or comments
from inscribed in the main page of the company’ site. This will allow innovations
possible because open-interaction is present on their sites. If conversation is free,
internet is also free.

The internet as the widely use media nowadays all over the globe, there are
many questions that lingers on our minds. Because the usage of internet is free, we
merely abuse it to the point that it gives the impression to us that, is it really worthy to
use or not? Questions overload mere experts’ tries to find answers on those questions.
Does the net still have a good future on our hands or not? Questions are also
conversations. It culminates our world. That is why we live, because we are curious that
leads us to ask question. Questions also draw the line. line that separates the fact from
reality, the truth from the fallacy, and other differences that serves as a control as the
users uses the net. It will also serve as a control in balancing the advantages and
disadvantages in the net. Methods, ideas and tactics are given to solve the never
ending question. Questions repeat its cycle 365 days for an ordinary year.

What I’ve learned:

I’ve learned everything. The chapter also meets my expectation in having

answers that might support that this article provides easy methods. It is quite funny that
the EZ answers to the overloading question regarding the net is can be given by a
couch potato guy that he only cares to bloat his fat ass. it is also good to read that many
experts observes the ugly side of management. They are the ones that must be blame if
a person doesn’t excel on other fields of learning. It proves that strong connection with
each other will build a stronger company.

Book: The Long Tail by Chris Anderson

Chris Anderson

Anderson

• POPULARITY NO LONGER HAS A LOCK ON PROFITABILITY. By Chris

Anderson

Learning Expectation:

My learning expectation from the article, The Long Tail by Chris Anderson, is to
full explain the through concept of Long Tail charts by simply citing explanations that
might support the charts. New concepts about the online retailing industry, why is it
better than selling on stands on a music or bookstore.

Review:

As I had read the Long Tail of Chris Anderson, it elaborates or let’s just simply
state that the article defines a much clearer concept of online retailing.

“Into the thin air” by Jon Krakauer replaces the” Touching the Void” by Joe
Simpson as the best seller novel due to the book of Simpson runs out of copy. But, the
fate turns its side for Simpson when “Touching the Void” arises from its immediate
death. Amazon, a leading online book retailing releases the scripts of “Touching the
Void” through online. So, more vivid fans that longs for the possible rebirth of the book,
takes the opportunity to subscribe for the book online. As the phenomenon grows
bigger, “Touching the Void” outsells “Into the thin Air” two is to one bout. Amazon
generated higher revenue due to its high demand for “Touching the Void”. So
bookstores, places “Touching the Void” near with “Into the thin air” on their selves due
to the high demand for the two books. What does the online retailing implies to us,
especially those to the marketing and sales representatives or selling companies? It is
simple, online marketing things last for a longer time and satisfies the needs of their
consumers. Online retailing reduces the shelf space covered like in stores, no scarcity
on volumes, it is easy for those who are looking items online, and most of all it utilizes
the possible “misses” to become hits.

If songs, books, documentaries/movies or anything that might be out from a store
or can be forgotten by the market, simply store it on a database and display and sell it
online. This is the concept of iTunes where it sells .99 cents per track. In this method,
the buyers can choose their preferred songs rather than buying the whole cd with a
price of $7.50. Classic or old books can be read again by new readers as they
subscribe the whole script on Amazon.com. Documentaries or unique movies can be
bought by other people whom are interested in viewing such videos through the help of
Netflix.

Invasion of larger spaces on the store’s shelves will be minimized because

products are now available through online. A buyer will minimized the times of
searching the catalog of books on a bookstore and less visit to the stands of a music
store or video shop wherein CD’s pile up.

A 20 year old man can now download the compilation of The Beatles greatest
hits, the novels of Paolo Coehlo and the House TV series are compiled on a database
of an online retailer site wherein customers can visit or buy these items without worrying
the stock’s availability. So, in short scarcity is diminished in lower percentage. The
customers can even choose based on their preferences and compare each item freely.
“Online retailing is the new media of the 21st century”.

What I have learned:

The things that I’ve learned from this article is simple the explanation to the
charts indicated on the article and what the Long Tail stands for. Online retailing
improves certain aspects on selling products or services to the market. It will give the
edge against other competitors as it uses a newer strategy than the traditional ways of
selling. I’ve also known that Online retailing is the new media of the 21st century.

1. Markets are Conversations

Market gives the opportunity to establish interaction between to or more persons.

As a matter of fact, market is the place where all of the language of every ethnic
people started. Why? Because they are forced to form their language in order to
perform their trades between them and the seller although they are starting to
use it on their own town or villages. In the market, they can share ideas on how

the product is being done, in what location it came from, knows the reason about
the price of a product and other factors that may update the knowledge of the
consumer or seller. Debates can also happen in the market, they can still share
ideas but in a manner of more exaggeration as they defend their stands. They
instigates to the other side that their point is right than anybody else. The cycle
goes on and on until it reaches on some point that they will already fight for it.

Market gives the opportunity to invent things that may smoothen their
conversation between each other. Invention of things in a sense that, in order to
keep their conversation flowing, regarding the distance, they make soft wares
that will compensate on their needs. These soft wares will keep them updated
because important information will be still sent to them by their colleagues on
what’s happening in the market. They can perform now conferences and
meetings that may lessen their traveling cost just to perform the things that are
mentioned above.

2. Markets consist of human beings, not demographic sectors.

A market is free for all. There are no age, gender, race and other factors that
must be consider first before entering the world of market. Instead of considering
those factors mentioned above, why we simplify it to a more generalized idea
that human beings are the foundation of a market. People are the responsible for
making the transition in the market to move or flow. They can negotiate on other
organizations freely as long as they will benefit from it and their interests are still
secured. Even younger ones can now be part of the market as long as they are
aware that there is no stability in the market. Religion is also considered in the
production of products. For example, Muslim communities doesn’t buy products
with the label of Jalal and usage of condoms and other tools for safe sex is not
approved by the Catholic church and right now, they are blocking the approval of
the reproductive health bill. Everything can happen.

We can learn from people. Regarding the race or the religion of a certain country,
we can learn on how to approach them through observing their culture and
practices. For example, we learn that Japanese companies are strict on their
products quality, Arab companies takes their project very seriously especially
now they are racing against time on their crude reserves by focusing on tourism
and Chinese companies wants that their production cost is cheap. Based from
these accounts, still that the people dictate the flow of the market based on the
human instincts.

3. Conversations among human beings sound human. They are conducted in

a human voice.

They sound human. As I have mentioned early in number 1 that language took
place in the market first, in order to perform their trades. They used it to buy from
the seller and he will respond to the buyer through their language. This cycle

goes on and on. Because we are human beings and we spoke in our own
language, we can easily convey our thoughts to other people mere not animals
can understand it. To explain how words are produced scientifically, our
formulation of words started from our left brain to be more specific as we think
the words that are suitable in describing or thoughts. Then as we speak, our
diaphragm will push the lungs to generate air which will serves as a current. The
air will now travel to the wind pipes until it reaches the vocals chords which will
produce sound or words.

Their thoughts sound human. Because we are the most intellectual beings in the
kingdom Mammalia, second are the rhesus monkeys, we can think. We can think
for the answers that might answer our questions for our daily lives. We can solve,
we can explore and we can communicate with meanings. This is why our
thoughts sound human, because only human beings can establish conversations
that have meanings although, other creatures does but still they are not like us.
Due to we speak in human voices, other people can talk to us. Discuss things
that might need an answer and formulate ideas that might solve some difficulties
in understanding some concepts. Because of conversations, market is formed.

4. Whether delivering information, opinions, perspectives, dissenting

arguments or humorous asides, the human voice is typically open, natural,
uncontrived.

Communication is a free space. Information, opinion, perspectives and dissenting

arguments or humorous ideas comes from a person’s mind. Information can be
exchange to other receivers or new ideas from the receivers can be shared to us
freely. Opinions can be solved and discussed whether it is important or not. Opinions
are sometimes used to improve one’s behaviors or they serve as motivation in
performing the task done well. Dissenting arguments can lead to a solution or worse,
a problem. These arguments will enable a person to think beyond the box because
maybe, his answers can be found as he think deep that might help his justification
against other’s stand. Humor ideas can establish friendships, love and strong
bonding or otherwise, fights between the group/s. it is also consider as tool in
gaining one’s impression that this person is a gullible and has a good morale. Those
mentioned are possible because we are open to accept and share information and
opinions, dissenting arguments can happen with an uncontrived discussions and
humorous ideas are natural to us because we are human beings.

Communication is not biased. It is not biased in a sense that, communicating is

applicable to all. It is not limited to a specific topic, it can be expound to a more
interesting ideas that others can join. This gives opportunities to hear other’s
perception and to be heard by them because it is our nature to talk, everyone is
open to accept and embrace each other’s opinion and we can perform an
uncontrived talk if we want too.

5. People recognize each other as such from the sound of this voice.

Conversation is congenital to us all. At point we are born, lets be confident enough

that at the age of 2 or above years of age, we can already talk. Knowledge for words
is still scarce but as we grow up, new information adds up as our parents or other
people talk to us. As a matter of fact when we are still young, if we saw by our mom
cries, she will think we are hungry or the diapers are already full. So she approaches
and tends to our needs. This examples are still part of conversation but, through non
verbal words. When we are already grown up, we can talk everything we want
because we know that our friends or families can understand us through our voice
that they can understand.

People recognize people. Because we know how to talk and speak in human voices
and words, we can understand and interprets what the other person is trying to say
to us. We can react and give opinions to what they are saying. Voices and actions
are the tools so we can understand the talks of other people.

6. The Internet is enabling conversations among human beings that were simply
not possible in the era of mass media.

Enabling conversation possible during the reign of mass media. Internet is one of the
parts that comprise the mass media on the market. The net serves as the bridge to
other parts of the world because it provides our needs that can enable to make
communication happen. Conversations are done through the use of mail, messenger
tools and other web communication soft wares. Managers can pass and talk about
their specific projects that foreign countries pay them for; a son sees his dad on a
webcam abroad and sending love notes to a special person in states. These are
benefits we can enjoy as we use the net.

The internet provides solution for your needs. We are emphasizing the advantages
as we use the net. The same as the statement above that conversation can be done
through specific soft wares; it will provide the benefits like the examples mentioned
above in the last sentence of the first paragraph. We can now also download
programs that are now updated and free like NetBeans IDE 6.1 that are essential in
creating java programs. This will help programmers to comply on their needs without
worrying where they will find it. These are examples why the net provides solution o
us.

7. Hyperlinks subvert hierarchy.

Hyperlinks make your browsing easy. This is one of the million features of the net
that lessens the burden of the net users. Hyperlinks are underlined word in a
common color of blue ad maroon that notifies the users it is a hyperlink. Hyperlinks

function is by when the users search for his interests, he will look for a hyperlink
because hyperlink will direct him to other resources located on a separate web page.

By using hyperlinks, no more manual research is done. Although manual research is

still done, it simplifies the task by not browsing all over the page until it reaches its
end by simply directing you to another page for your subjects. It also makes you
comfortable and browsing fast.

8. In both internetworked markets and among intranetworked employees, people

are speaking to each other in a powerful new way.

No force on earth than can stop network conversation. Whether it is internet or

intranet, users can still convey their messages as they use the net. Intranets are
connection within the company. It is serves as connector between the employees of
a company. For example are, an employee is located 2nd floor while her manager is
on the 7th floor of the building. The manager asks her to send the files through mail
so she will just used the local net connection that resides in the company. Internet is
the connection that is widely used through out the world. So, through these
connections, the conversation is still present and can never be stop.

Conversation is been used as an ingredient. Back on the past of the market, the
management doesn’t embrace the advantage of constant sharing information so
they discourage their employees to practice it. But now, it has been change,
employees can now interact with each other. They use now the net to perform their
group discussion. The management saw this and tries to stop it, but it can never be
happen. So they plan and observe until they realize instead of stopping it, why not
use it as an advantage on their production. so it became the ingredient on making
the production fast and efficient because there is constant communication in the
company.

9. These networked conversations are enabling powerful new forms of social

organization and knowledge exchange to emerge.

The rise of technology triggers to make the network conversation powerful. As what I
have said on the last paragraph, the companies used the function of the net in order
to make their production faster because employees will now engage on their work as
they use their own internet connection. It is now also used in marketing, sales and
human resource management as whom they are marketing, selling and manning. As
the users use the net, they can enjoy the features of millions of web sites around the
world and in return they are now updated on facts that might help them as they use
the net.

Communication is now upgrading as the time goes by. As technology dictates the
flow in the market, communication is one of the areas bounded by it advancement.
In order to sustain the needs and wants of the net addict’s globally, experts are force
to look some innovations that might catch the attention of their customers. Their

innovations are dependent on the market’s current status. If the market needs for
web pages to be more sophisticated to get the attention of their users, experts will
enhance their previous design or starts from the scratch again. So the net is
constantly upgrading.

10. As a result, markets are getting smarter, more informed, more organized.
Participation in a networked market changes people fundamentally.

As the world of market develops so as it became smarter. Markets are smarter

because of its smarter foundation, which is us, users. We contribute ideas fro the
betterment of its functionality. They develop designs that may grab the attention of
the customers. Explaining briefly to them about their products functionality just
browsing the web, competition is getting bigger because they are aware that their
competitors are now using the net as their plan in attracting more users and smarter
people are sprouting to make the market smarter by hiring them to create monstrous
codes that may bigger companies will tumble. Those mentioned above are the
factors why the market is now smarter.

As the markets are getting smarter as it evolves, participation from the users are a
must. Because of the transition of a company into a more advance and effective
competitor in the market would on happen if conversation is present. Sharing of
endless ideas that might solve the longing for superiority may help them to create
their products, magnifico! News are now spread through blogs and mails so
awareness for change is being felt by the experts and ordinary people. So
participation is a must to nourish the growth of the market.

11. People in networked markets have figured out that they get far better
information and support from one another than from vendors. So much for
corporate rhetoric about adding value to commoditized products.

As the consumers are now aware of the upgrading in the world of market, they talk
to other people in order to acquire more ideas that might help them to buy product or
services. When they talk to other people, they are getting more curious. So they ask
rhetorical questions, search on the web, and observed other people because
curiosity grows. It broadens on how we think and act. It also serves as our
guidelines about news and trends on the market. Also experts are not yet finished
from questioning things because they believe that answers are can also be found as
you as questions. For example, a newbie photographer is starting to buy a Single-
lens camera for his or her project, he now ask a expert photographer that might
recommend the best and the cheapest SLR camera that he may buy in the market.
Through this experience, as the newbie goes to a store that sells the camera he or
she wants, sales talks are now impossible to corrupt his minds because of facts that
he acquire as he or she gathers information. Asking questions counter attacks the
way of companies on saying false claims and lies that their service and products are
better from others and to you.

12. There are no secrets. The networked market knows more than companies do
about their own products. And whether the news is good or bad, they tell
everyone.

As the consumers are now aware of the upgrading in the world of market, they talk to
other people in order to acquire more ideas that might help them to buy product or
services. When they talk to other people, they are getting more curious. So they ask
rhetorical questions, search on the web, and observed other people because curiosity
grows. It broadens on how we think and act. It also serves as our guidelines about
news and trends on the market. Also experts are not yet finished from questioning
things because they believe that answers are can also be found as you as questions.
As the world of market develops so as it became smarter. Markets are smarter because
of its smarter foundation, which is us, users. We contribute ideas fro the betterment of
its functionality. They develop designs that may grab the attention of the customers.
Explaining briefly to them about their products functionality just browsing the web,
competition is getting bigger because they are aware that their competitors are now
using the net as their plan in attracting more users and smarter people are sprouting to
make the market smarter by hiring them to create monstrous codes that may bigger
companies will tumble.

13. What's happening to markets is also happening among employees. A

metaphysical construct called "The Company" is the only thing standing between
the two.

A good marketing strategy is by simply penetrating the field where the people are
hooked and enjoyed at. Now days, the web is a better place to promote the services
and products of a company. People can interact in the net by joining in a chat room
where plenty of a topics may be discussed by the participants, blogs can now be seen
in any peer to peer sites which can be used as a advertising ground for free if a person
opens a topic about the product and the products can now be posted within the site
which can be viewed by a thousands of people through out the globe. It is also the
same with the interaction of the management to their employees. Employees are like
the market that hopes for a certain event that the top management will include them in
creating decisions and plans in mobilizing the whole process of the company. The
company must remove the wall between the employees and the market due it will
create a much stronger and reliable society where in ideas flow to become a goal that
might be used by the company itself.

14. Corporations do not speak in the same voice as these new networked
conversations. To their intended online audiences, companies sound hollow, flat,
literally inhuman.

The rise of technology triggers to make the network conversation powerful. As what I
have said on the last paragraph, the companies used the function of the net in order to
make their production faster because employees will now engage on their work as they
use their own internet connection. It is now also used in marketing, sales and human

resource management as whom they are marketing, selling and manning. As the users
use the net, they can enjoy the features of millions of web sites around the world and in
return they are now updated on facts that might help them as they use the net. As the
company maintains their strategy in grabbing a wider span of market, this motivation
leads them to specific mistakes that must never being done by them. They believe that
consumers doesn’t care for the real effect of their product or services, they tend to look
for the quality of a product due to their perception that it is worth paying for if the product
is in good condition. So, because they know that quality will speak for itself, they
advertise or speak fraud statements about their products regarding its good quality. It
already implies that a master is now talking to a dog were the dog only follows his
master’s command.

15. In just a few more years, the current homogenized "voice" of business—the
sound of mission statements and brochures—will seem as contrived and artificial
as the language of the 18th century French court.

The Voice of the business will fade. As the time goes by, the message of the
companies to the society such as their mission and vision, objectives and promises will
be nothing like air to the ears of its listeners because the society knows they are
explicating frauds to the public. It will discourage the human instinct to buy their
products whether it is cheap or not due to the longing of the consumer for something
new. Something new in a sense that they need the truth, no more lies and frauds, just
simply the whole truth because as of now, we are confuse if still the bottled milk we give
to our babies are safe from melamine or a bottle of cologne is exact 150 mL.

If this may not be solved immediately, the voice will fade inevitably. This may
lead to loyalty loss of the consumer and clients and hardship in reacquisition of the lost
trust of their dear consumers. They must have concern that in order to make them
company survive, the first stepping stone is by simply being factual and telling the whole
truth about their services and products. Because whatever the product or services
intention, still the consumer must be given some specific guidelines that they may
benefit and not from their production.

16. Already, companies that speak in the language of the pitch, the dog-and-pony
show, are no longer speaking to anyone.

As the company maintains their strategy in grabbing a wider span of market, this
motivation leads them to specific mistakes that must never being done by them. They
believe that consumers doesn’t care for the real effect of their product or services, they
tend to look for the quality of a product due to their perception that it is worth paying for
if the product is in good condition. So, because they know that quality will speak for
itself, they advertise or speak fraud statements about their products regarding its good
quality. It already implies that a master is now talking to a dog were the dog only follows
his master’s command. The consumer becomes now a fool, a fool for his ignorance that
the company speaks for the fallacy not the whole damn truth.

Now the consumers are now dogs, the master continues his addiction, addiction
to lie for the benefit of him. If he commands his dog to die for his behalf in a critical
situation, the dog would do the command. It only explains that we are dependent on
their resources, we feel that we can survive without them whether they fools us or not.
So, the manufacturers must know that in every lie they say, a consequence lies ahead
for them.

17. Companies that assume online markets are the same markets that used to
watch their ads on television are kidding themselves.

Companies are fool if they believe that advertisements in the net will serves as
an advantage to their consumers. if they do the latter sentence, let us give them a big
laugh. I am one of the few that knows that internets serve as a communication media
throughout the world. It will allow people to ask questions and express their ideas for an
idea or object. So, the difference between the ad in the TV against the ad in the net is
big. Why? Because we can react as we see the advertisements by a company in the
web were it can be seen worldwide than seeing it only at our TV and giving reactions
about it to our families and close friends within that area. Online markets must take not
in order to attract more consumers, they must give an impression to their clients once
they saw the product in the net, they can also promote it to other people because they
know they are promoting a product that has good quality according to the company’s
description about it. This may boost the net sales of the product that might contribute to
a bigger net profit for the company.

18. Companies that don't realize their markets are now networked person-to-
person, getting smarter as a result and deeply joined in conversation are missing
their best opportunity.

These
opportunities will help them to lift the company’s status in the market because if the
product is now part of the needs of people, a bunch of buyers may acquire the product
and many potential buyers can be convinced that the product is good due it is being
bought by the many. Although posting an ad in a site may cost the company, still in
return if they grab a small part of a market, this will be the spark for their success. A
small sacrifice may help to robust the company’s stability in the market.

19. Companies can now communicate with their markets directly. If they blow it, it
could be their last chance.

The companies are now aware of the possibilities that the net may contribute to
their purpose success in manufacturing goods or providing services. So they use it by
providing laptops to their employers as their working tools and PDA’s are given to
workers that are usually in motion. These tools may help them in knowing the flow in the
market through constant communication between them and the company. The internet
was used by many companies to promote their products in order for consumers see
them. It also establish a status that if the service or product clicks in the market, more
site owners will ask for their help by simply letting them to post the ads in their site so
that more consumers will browse and use the sites because of the presence of the
brand of a popular company. As the company uses the net and other interactive media,
they may add updates and information which the consumers needs as they buy
products in the market.

22. Getting a sense of humor does not mean putting some jokes on the corporate
web site. Rather, it requires big values, a little humility, straight talk, and a
genuine point of view.

Sometimes, the best way to win the heart of a lady is through making her smile.
Cracking some jokes and telling funny stories about your idiotic behavior as you burn
your cake in an oven and etc. After that, observe your crush or any person you are
cracking a joke with, they will found your thoughts interesting. They will listen and tell
jokes too about themselves or in other words, interaction is present. But sometimes,
being humorous is not shown in just cracking funny jokes to other people instead being
vivid, concise and factual on your talks makes you a humorous person because based
from the given definition in the dictionary; expressing amazing things.

Using the net as a tool in expressing your thoughts which are good and
humorous will attract other people to participate in what your ideas may convey on their
daily lives. Performing conference encourages other to interact, share and suggest
about a certain topic in which you can learn from them and maybe they may learn from
you. These events strengthens your social skills because your are being cultivated as
you establish your connection on them, your point of views and maybe your funny jokes
may sell to them whether they are shallow or serious people. It only depends on how
communicate with them.

23. Companies attempting to "position" themselves need to take a position.

Optimally, it should relate to something their market actually cares about.

Now a days, acquiring a position in a market will make the company famous and
can be said by its consumers as an established company while its competitors sees
them as threat to their success as an organization. To further explain the facts that
motivates the company to be part on a market are; they push themselves to the limit
because privileges are waiting for like good net profit for a year, more investors may
invest on them due to they are popular and in the future, they can monopolize for that
specific product or service. The company plans promos and gimmicks in order to grab
many possible clients. The more clients they have, the more money they will receive no

matter what if the quality they are selling is reduced as long as it will make them part of
the industry. It is also considered as an assurance for them that it will not crumble down
due to their massive consumers that patronize their product. It will serve as a threat for
other companies because if one of their competitors is already established an image on
the same market, there are possibilities that they will fight back with their own
promotions or revised an existing promotions of their competitors and enhance it better
than the previous one.

24. Bombastic boasts—"We are positioned to become the preeminent provider of

XYZ"—do not constitute a position.

Like what I’ve said in no. 23 of this paper, they will do the necessary plans that
will help them to be part of their target industry. So, they also spread those taglines
mentioned above whether they are not suitable or qualified to provide their products or
services to their consumers. It will take a lot of guts to step out of a corner and shout out
to the crowd and say “Hey, you will need us because we are your mommies that will
provide you a huggies instead of pampers for your babies.” Although the statement is
quite confusing, but to explain it, if your doctor prescribes you a virgin coconut oil which
is pure to cure your skin disease and you are convinced to buy it already, a hell of a
bastard approaches you and promotes a virgin coconut oil which is not, rather a
vegetable oil. After while, you are victimized by his demonic sales talk and tends to buy
the product instead of prescription of the doctor. As you apply the product on your skin
and rides on a train, a person sitting next to you says “Miss, your skin seems cook.” It is
a punch on your booby donuts. The whole scenario only implies that sales agents or the
company takes your innocence as an advantage for them to manipulate you in buying
their goods. So, be cautious.

25. Companies need to come down from their Ivory Towers and talk to the people
with whom they hope to create relationships.

Sometimes a mother tiger leans down to his cub because it is still incapable of
feeding itself. It is the only way that she may tend to the needs of her young’s by
listening to their moans if they are hungry or not, needs to be played in order to learn
how to survive in the wild. It is also the same with a company. Organizations must
always bow there knees down and show enthusiasm in listening and responding to the
needs of their consumers. In this way, it will strengthen the bond between them and the
people. This relationship will determine the factors or changes that must be addressed
immediately because maybe sometimes, it may help or worse, destroy them as an
organization. Showing sincerity and zeal in making that relationship possible make the
market more comfortable of assured that their investments are safe. As of now, many
company now a days are confident enough in operating their business because they
believe that they are the experts and their consumers are not. So, they follow their own
instincts and suggestions rather than listening to their clients.

26. Public Relations does not relate to the public. Companies are deeply afraid of
their markets.

The public relation as of now is only a mascot which serves as an escape goat
for many companies in hiding their true identity. Identity that needs to be exposed to
their audience which needs a true meaning based from it purpose of establishing a
relationship. We as consumers, are aware that manufacturers tends to comfort us and
encourages us to be part of their society were people are being fooled on what they see
and hear where all body of lies thrives in every sales lady’s tongue to meet her specific
quota for the day. It is only simply, survival of the fittest. They used Public Relation to
shield their fears of possible companies’ meltdown if they don’t do necessary action
where it may lift the company. They always do it whether they give or tell the truth to
their consumers. Why? They act like this? My only opinion is that companies are forcing
themselves to be part of the community’s way of living because in order to survive, they
must thrive to the needs and want of each individual here on earth. If they don’t act like
that, no company succeeds in our present time whether they are multi-billionaire
company or not. What if they try the opposite, they interact with their consumers
solemnly and disregarding the fear of risks that might trigger if they don’t coexist with
their clients. Maybe in this case, they can provide better quality services and goods
because they are now close to the hearts of every people.

27. By speaking in language that is distant, uninviting, arrogant, they build walls
to keep markets at bay.

Top management people especially those in Information Technology area are

using sophisticated and technical words mere themselves can understand what they are
saying. They actually do the “techy” talk in order to show to other workers or the mob
that they are geniuses but, a hell of a bastard. This brings to their users confusion on
how they will use their products and hesitation in buying it or not. Although they know
that talking to common people in using technical words, still they continues to do this
habit rather than curing it because it will have an affect on their business status.

Language is the key to each individual’s existence. It is also the factor why we
are intact to other human beings. We can express our emotions to other people and
accept responses from them. So, if communication serves as our string to other people,
why making it more complicated than a simple one, in fact is not everyone in this world
couldn’t understand those bunch of jargon words. I believe if this malpractice still thrives
in a company, it may lessen the trust and confidence of a loyal customer on them
because in just explaining a simple explanation, they make it more difficult for other
people to understand. So, junk the malpractices face the reality.

28. Most marketing programs are based on the fear that the market might see
what's really going on inside the company.

What are the main motives of these marketing programs? Is it a promotion for
their inventions or just a decoy for the possibilities there modus are exposed. If doubts

circulate on our minds, why these programs often release on the market? I believe that
if I am a businessman in the future, I will value my customers’ trust and confidence on
my services by giving a satisfaction that they can only be found as they utilize my
services but honestly speaking, it wouldn’t last long. I am a human person, possible
victim of the demonic aura of money. This temptation may change my perception on a
good service; I will now starts to consider my gain rather than allotting my investments
for the betterment of my services. It is also the factor why marketing departments
launches gimmicks on a specific timeframe, to attract and ensures their consumers that
they still value the rights for good quality. Although the truth is, they reduced the true
mixture of their service.

29. Elvis said it best: "We can't go on together with suspicious minds."

Looking for friends, families and acquaintances is a way of satisfying our needs
for companionship, love and care. So we tend to go out with them on malls, recreational
places and events were we can have fun with them. So as our trust and love grew on
them, we often consider them as part of our lives with no suspicion on them. The
mentioned case earlier is also the same with interacting with your coworkers in the
company. You cannot perform tasks that may done by partners or teams because there
is a saying; “two heads are better than one”. We must learn to interact with other people
and in return, a good production or sales forecast lies ahead. But unfortunately, Filipino
employees tend to feed their own greed in order to excel than others. This is the main
reason why unity within a team is minimal. Workers are suspicious with their coworkers
by watching every move they do and decision they make because they believe that it
may be used against him/her. Although participation on a team must still be observed
but, the whole trust with each other are not quite that strong same as your relationship
with your friends. It is impossible for a team to succeed if that is the case. Elvis is right
about his quotation mentioned above, we must be together as one with no suspicion or
hesitation as we take part of what the team must be accomplished on a task given to
them by the company.

30. Brand loyalty is the corporate version of going steady, but the breakup is
inevitable—and coming fast. Because they are networked, smart markets are able
to renegotiate relationships with blinding speed.

We all know that the customers are the main factors why even a small company
thrives to succeed in an industry. They look for key clues in buying a specific product
he/she wants as he look the main image encrypted on the product’s package. He/she
also knows that if this image is present on a product, he/she can come on a conclusion
if the quality is good or bad as he/she uses it. So what do customers do looks for? The
answer is the Brand. Brands are essential in establishing status on a market because
small or big companies believe that the mission-vision statements, objectives and

qualities are depicted as it displays the brand on its service or products. A higher brand
loyalty means a good stability in a market due to the customer’s need for your product.
But this fact is not liable at all times, due to competition and other bad factors; the
customer’s loyalty to the service tends to deteriorates. So in order to support or prevent
this mayhem, they look for alternatives that may robust the company’s image once
more. They start looking for innovative tactics such as placing advertisements on the
net or personal interaction between the customer and the provider. This will help them
to revive their failure as company.

31. Networked markets can change suppliers overnight. Networked knowledge

workers can change employers over lunch. Your own "downsizing initiatives"
taught us to ask the question: "Loyalty? What's that?"

According to the definition of Princeton dictionary, loyalty is the feeling of being

loyal or allegiant to a person, object or binding yourself to an action. That is the
dictionary’s definition about loyalty. So, how about the definition of a businessman? I
think that it is also the same because; it is the general understanding of all about loyalty.
It can never be changed or replaced. So what does loyalty implies in the business
world? Here is my explanation. Nowadays, the market is a place where a saying is
applicable that constant is change or in other words, the market is always changing.
This phenomenon affects all the aspects in the business industry including the trust or
loyalty onto them. It is neither inevitable nor curable. It is part of our daily existence as
humans as a matter of fact, we are constant changing. Let us think beyond the box
about the topic, Loyalty in an office might go up and down or it may appear and
disappear. So why does companies take necessary actions in making the loyalty of their
consumers, suppliers and workers stronger as the time goes by? I think that in order to
sell and gain more, they need a wider span of customers that supports their offers,
suppliers that trust the company may offer discounts and freebies that will lessen the
cost for a period of time and loyal workers are more productive if they are secured and
assured that they are paid and judge fairly.

32. Smart markets will find suppliers who speak their own language.

As I’ve know throughout the study, smart markets are comprised by consumers,
companies and suppliers according to the explanation of my past management
subjects. They are the sculptors in making the market a beautiful but not perfect vase
because due to some differences on each other’s perspectives about the market. Each
member participates in making the flow in the industry liquid through interactions
between them. They look for the proper and right allies that will satisfy their own interest
in order to make their company’s status stable, for the consumers; to assured that the
products they bought are in good shape and their fellow suppliers; to monitor the
balance in the competition. They look for providers that might meet their expectations
and needs through good service, discounts and can be trust with for their success. They
also look for other suppliers that are mostly available at all times and all cost because
they will feel that their interests are well protected by their partners in the business. This
will also lead to strong partnership where in the end, it can boost the company’s

revenues due to the strong bond between them. In other words, the smart market will
look for partners that share their main objectives, goals and principles as it will make
them successful beings.

33. Learning to speak with a human voice is not a parlor trick. It can't be "picked
up" at some tony conference.

Speaking in human voice is a representation of the type of communication being

used by the two parties in communicating with each other. The best way to describe it,
the level of interaction between the clients and providers must be the SAME. It must be
simple and concise also because I believe that communicating with your clients in the
level of his understanding is it will be the first step in knowing his needs and wants for
your service. I will give an explanation why speaking in an ordinary way must not be
taken for granted. A mother goes to a parlor for her monthly haircut and as she sits on
the barber chair, a gay beautician approaches her. The mother tells the beautician
about her need haircut and the “IT” (does not know if she fall on the male or female
category so we describe it as IT) responds on the mother’s suggestions by using
unfamiliar words in cutting the hair. So, in order to stop “IT” in nagging about her hair,
she just says “Give me the cut and I will leave”. In this manner, the customer is pissed
off and putted on her mind that she will no longer go to that salon. Another customer
lost because of wrong choice of words. If the customer knew the representative’s
explanations easily, confidence in establishing interaction with the manufacturer arises.
This may result for fast and accurate response and loyalty to the service will be robust.
Explaining facts in a form of sophisticated words will draw out confusions and conflicts
between the consumer and the company and in return, trust and loyalty will
deteriorates.

34. to speak with a human voice, companies must share the concerns of their
communities.

Because companies are comprised by people not animals, they interact with
language and actions in which it can be understand by all of us. They look for
interaction gimmicks were possibilities that people and their interests will be part of like
group talks and parties. It is right for the organization to know their main target
customers well; they must be part of their living and the customers must be part of the
objectives of the company. The organization tends the expectations of their clients
through imagining scenarios what will happen if their consumers use the product or not.
So, a company launches exhibits or promotions where people can go on and off through
the exhibition scheduled. They can view products and test it, ask gurus about the best
service and products and booth that offers freebies in which it will make the people to
participate because of interesting events held in an expo. Launching expos or any other
events that involves people and company’s purpose will help to advertise and explain to
its clients how their service may lessen the burden as they use their products or change
the way of living into much comfortable and easy life.

35. But first, they must belong to a community.

According on the Philippine constitution, an organization is considered as a
human being established by the power of the law that went under due right process. So
in short, it is part of the society where human beings are also part of. An organization
does their purpose for the community because every individual must take part for the
success and growth of the country knowing that they are considered as artificial human
beings. The company must solemnly observe this principle in order to thrive and survive
in the industry. Now, we all know that companies are declared as human beings under
the law, so in order to be functional for the society, they must consider themselves as
the main property of the community. To support this statement, I’ll state a fact why
organizations must be part of the property of the community. Here is the reason; the
society mainly manipulates or dictates the growth of a certain organization because
their profit for a certain period of time belongs from the pockets of the society. If it is
hard for them to accept this fact, shutting down maybe the only answer for them
because there are no fool consumers that are willing to surrender their rights under the
demands of those organizations.

36. Companies must ask themselves where their corporate cultures end.

To be able to succeed as an individual, one must be able to ‘TO KNOW

THY SELF’. This saying is also applicable to companies; if they want to succeed,
they must be able to set standards for their corporate culture. Corporate culture
sets the professional atmosphere, policies and traditions of a company, if a
company does not know well of its corporate culture then they do not know
where their corporate culture ends. Setting limitations for a corporate culture is as
important as the company itself, without setting limitations, then the company will
be in chaos and they will have a difficult time in organizing the company.
Corporate culture sets the atmosphere for the employees working in the
company, without good corporate culture then the employees will not develop
good working skills and they will feel sluggish in working. Corporate culture is
also the one of the factors for a company to succeed because corporate culture
positions the company in a good working atmosphere. Knowing the limitations of
a corporate culture, everyone in the workplace including the directors know what
is ought to do and what is not. It is very important at the start of making or
creating a company to know where to start and where to end the corporate
culture. Corporate culture is not just limited to rules but it is a culture that starts
from the directors down to its staff, it is a habit that is essential to the growth and
progress of a company.

37.If their cultures end before the community begins, they will have no market.

It is important for a company to set their corporate culture for it is essential

for their growth. Culture entails people and when culture ends then the
community that they are trying to set in will not developed. Culture and
Community comes hand in hand. Understanding the community deeply needs
the grasping and developing of a good culture. Without the culture and
community, they will have no market. Market is the primary goal of a firm, to

market, make market and eventually grow through market. Culture entails
understanding the people in it, understanding equates to studying, analyzing and
relating to the culture of a workplace. Culture creates community, a community
where in people in a workplace works harmoniously and productively. Culture
and community creates market because thorough understanding of both equates
to the grasping of the whole market. Market is seen through the company’s
culture and community because culture and community bridges the
understanding of a market. If the culture ends without the depth understanding of
the community then they will have no market for culture and community connects
to market. Market sort of understands the people involved, studying their wants
and needs and how do they react to certain things. Creating a profitable market
is the end goal of a company and without understanding the real market then the
company will not be able to reach their goal. Through culture and community,
companies will have an idea of what is their market and having an idea of what is
their prospective market then they will be able to do some study about their
potential market.

38.Humancommunities are based on discourse—on human speech about

human concerns.

To know more about a certain person, you have to communicate with

him/her. To know what your market needs you have to go deeper than studying,
you have to relate. Community is said to be based on good communication, for
with good communication you begin to know more about your community.
Directors down to small staff in a workplace should practice good communication
for it is also one of the many other factors that lead to the progress of a company.
Community is defined as people living and working together harmoniously and to
be able to achieve that they should be able to communicate. Good
communication entails listening to the concerns and needs of a person. It is not
considered a good communication if you fail to respond and listen the needs of
other person. Community needs good communication to be able to do relate with
one another. Community is sort of a market, you have to listen, understand, and
respond to their needs. Community’s strength and based is a good
communication for they understand each and everyone’s needs’ better through
communicating. If they are able to set up a good community then they will be
able to understand the market. Setting up a community in a workplace is just as
setting a community in a place, you have to have constant good communication.
What makes us human is our ability to relate and to feel to other people and
human communities is build upon good communication because you are able to
hear and respond to the needs and concern of others.

39.The community of discourse is the market.

Market is defined as a meeting of people (buyer and sellers) and together

they make transactions. To be able to have a market, you have to understand the
needs and concerns of your market. You have to have your ideal or target market

and work with it. Community of discourse is the market because you share ideas
and discuss things. Community of discourse is considered as a market because
as you communicate with them you find new things about them that you can
apply on your market. Responding is important in a communication, without
responding you cannot have an effective communication. Through responding,
we can study and analyze how to be able to react accordingly to their wants and
needs. Community of discourse because you get to transact, talk, communicate
with the community as well as your potential market. Community of discourse is
the market because you are able to connect and get to feel what they want. it is
important for a company to deeply know its market for the success of a company
depends on how well they know their market. You cannot just study and analyze
your market but you also have to exert effort to know more your market by
talking, relating, connecting to them. If you want to deliver good business to your
market you have to understand them first and for you to understand your market
you have to communicate with them. It is like living inside your market through
communication and responds to their needs accordingly.

40.Companies that do not belong to a community of discourse will die.

Communication within a community is essential for companies.

Companies need community that communicates because through
communication they understand more each other. It is true that companies that
do not belong to a community of discourse will die because companies in order
to succeed needs to communicate to its employees. Without communication,
directors and employees will not be able to connect and to bridge what they
really want from each other. Communication is listening and responding to other
people’s needs. If a company fails to have a community of discourse then they
will fail in getting potential target market. Failing to get a market, a company will
die so it is very important for a company to be a community of discourse.
Everyone in the company should communicate because communication is a
factor of success. Community discourse in a company will develop if the directors
talk to their staff and know what they want from each other. Communication is a
win-win situation, the market and the company talks with each other to benefit
from each other. Having a community discourse in the company will make the
atmosphere a better place to work with because they set the ambience of
transparency and understanding. A company who has a community of discourse
will surely be easy and convenient for them to identify the needs and concerns of
a market. The death of a company happens when the company fails to have a
good communication in its community or workplace for the community or
workplace is just like the market outside.

41.Companies make a religion of security, but this is largely a red herring.

Most are protecting less against competitors than against their own market
and workforce.

It is good to be secured with what you have especially in a company. A
company’s success is tied up with its market and workforce. Knowing your
market and workforce will surely lead you to excellence. It is a good thing that
companies now focused on their market and workforce. So what does really
market and workforce do to your company? First, the every company’s goal is to
maximize profit but how can a company maximize their profit if they are not
secured or not in good terms with the workforce. Workforce of a company is the
heart and soul of a company, without the workforce the company cannot create a
product that is pleasing to the market. Market is also as important as the
workforce, without the market, the company does not know what to offer and how
to operate business. Companies should look out to their market and workforce
instead their competitors because market really dictates to you what they want
from you and they are the ones that keep your business going. Instead of
focusing on the competitors, it is best to study your market and communicate
with them because they give you answers on how to please them. A company
should also focus on their workforce for their workforce brings life to the
company, without the workforce the company will not be able to serve their
market’s need. It is important for a company to maintain the efficiency of the
workforce by continuous training and listening to their needs. A company who
knows how to give importance the market and workforce will surely grow than a
company who focuses on their competitors.

42.Aswith networked markets, people are also talking to each other directly
inside the company—and not just about rules and regulations, boardroom
directives, bottom lines.

Companies also should center on what people talk about inside the
company. It is essential to know because they might have something good or
bad to tell about the company. It is important to keep the company’s eyes, heart
and ears open to what the employees want to share. Sometimes they may talk
about the rule, regulations that they don’t like, the company has to know the
reason why because the successes of the company depend on the employees. It
is also important for the company to be open minded and listen to needs of the
employees. Efficient and good employees add to the strengths of a company.
What the employees talk about inside the company may speak of what the
company is. If an employee talks about how good and fulfilling is his/her job at
the job, it may also point back and give impression about the company. If an
employee talks about bad things about the company then maybe the company is
not treating their employees well. What comes out of the employees’ mouth
speak of the company. If the employee talks about good things like business
topics, topics that are mind challenging then it reflect that a company is a good
and top of the line firm while if the employees talk about gossip all day long then
it is not a good reflection about a company. Employees talks and communicate
with each other, the company has to listen and sometimes be one with what they
are trying to say for everything in business is a win-win situation.

43.Suchconversations are taking place today on corporate intranets. But only
when the conditions are right.

Change is the only permanent thing in the world, and that applies to
business and how we communicate with other people. Companies nowadays use
computers and along with those computers is the use of intranets. Intranet is a
network restricted to the use of only one company. Intranet is very useful in the
dissemination of company news and updates. Employees in a company use
intranets to communicate with each other, instead of asking the employee in
person, the boss may command his/her staff by the use of intranet. With intranet,
companies were able to be technologically adept and having intranet is an
advantage to a company. Employees use the intranet to communicate their
needs to the company and use to chat with other employees. The company,
before having the intranet available throughout the workplace should make a
study of the effect of it. Also the company should create about the limitations and
conditions on the use if intranets so as not to create a bad effect on the
productivity on each member of the company. It is important to create limitations
on the use of intranets because people in the workplace may tend to abuse it.
Limitations set the guidelines of how to use, what is the right time to employ and
what is not the bad time to utilize the intranet. Intranet makes the company’s
work atmosphere seem simple but if the intranet is abused, it will take a toll on
the productivity of the company, so it is very important to be mindful of the use of
intranet.

44.Companies typically install intranets top-down to distribute HR policies and

other corporate information that workers are doing their best to ignore.

The only purpose of intranet is for the employees know and be reminded
of the new regulations and updates about the company. Employees may try to
ignore some rules that they do not agree with but with the help of intranet, they
will be able to at least be open about it. Nowadays it hard to get everyone to
listen to the news or and new policies that company would like to adapt because
everyone is busy and it is hard to gather everyone. Since everyone in the
company is communicating through the intranet, the company will also use the
intranet to connect with the workers. Through intranet, companies were able to
disseminate properly information throughout the company. Instead of regular
meetings, companies will save time and effort through intranet. It is very difficult
to distribute policies to the employees using papers and memos because some
employees may not read it but with the help of intranet, employees who ignore
the policies of the company will be able to read it and through reading it with the
use of intranet, the employees may open their minds to the new policies of the
company. Policies and updates listed in the intranet is complete than just
announcing it to all the employees. Writing the policies instead of announcing it
to everyone in the workplace is better because through announcing, the
announcer has certain tones and gestures that may lead to the ignoring of
employees of the policies, with the use of intranet there will be no voice tones,

gestures and biases that may affect to the employees understanding of the
policies.

45.Intranets naturally tend to route around boredom. The best are built bottom-up
by engaged individuals cooperating to construct something far more valuable:
an intranetworked corporate conversation.

Intranet is widely used by a lot of companies nowadays because it is more

convenient and accessible to everyone in the workplace. Every good thing in this
world can be abused, if it is not used properly, usually intranet tend to lead to
boredom because people just interact to the computer. It is not healthy for a
person to just sit in front of a computer and do every interaction there; yes it is a
sign of progress but then it is not healthy for a human being. Another
disadvantage of intranet is employees talk non sense using the intranet.
Employees use the intranet to chat with other employees and it leads to boredom
and laziness of every employee. In order to control this kind of work attitude, the
management and the directors of the company should have policies and
conditions with the use of intranet. It will also be good if the directors will set the
mood of the proper use of the intranet by being a good role model and using the
intranet by communicating corporate communications. The workplace
atmosphere will liven up if there is a continuous write up where in employees can
share their thoughts about the company and business suggestions. Companies
should regularly post business articles where in employees could talk and share
their thoughts. This idea will not lead to the boredom of employees and this will
add to the company’s knowledge of their employees. Employees will be more
productive and will use their time efficiently with intranet.

46.A healthy intranet organizes workers in many meanings of the word. Its effect
is more radical than the agenda of any union.

Unions formed by the employees are usually a threat to a company but

then it is always allowed to form unions so that company will be more careful and
mindful of taking care of the employees’ needs and concerns. Nowadays many
companies are technologically inclined and they use intranet to connect each and
everyone in the workplace. Along with the inevitable use of the intranet are the
unions within the intranets. Employees nowadays unionized with the use of
intranet, through the intranet, the employees were able to find co-workers who
have the same interest. Unions formed through the intranet will not be as
threathful as the unions formed without the use of intranet. Unions formed within
the intranet are usually employees who share same hobbies, interest, views and
ideal; the unions usually formed are the likes of ‘Reader’s Club, Newsmaker’s
Circle, etc. Unions formed through the intranet is more essential because the
unions formed are skill developing, mind enriching and lastly unions created or
formed through the intranet will create happy and healthy employees. The effect

of organizations with the use of intranet is more radical because it will create
productive and efficient workers. Though the organizations formed through the
intranet are a benefit of a company, it will be good for a company to set certain
conditions and limitations in the forming of organizations. Some organizations
formed through the intranet are not beneficial to the company so it is good for a
company to monitor regularly the organizations. Organizations are good but they
should have limitations so as not to harm the image of the company and the
productivity of the workers.

47.Whilethis scares companies witless, they also depend heavily on open

intranets to generate and share critical knowledge. They need to resist the
urge to "improve" or control these networked conversations.

The innovation of intranet has helped the company to communicate with

their employees. Through the intranet employees were able to speak up their
mind and share their ideas. Through the intranet, directors and big bosses of the
company were able to study the concerns of their employees. Also with the help
of intranet, directors of the company will be able to conceive another idea with
the help of their employees’ ideas. The success of the company will be achieved
through the knowledge and skill of both directors and the workers. Through the
intranet, both the higher bosses the employees will be able to interact and
communicate for the betterment of the company. Also it is important to regulate
and set limitations on the open intranet because employees might abuse it. It is
very important to control the sharing of knowledge because too much of this is
not healthy for the company. The limitations are up to the directors’ judgment,
he/she should not be so strict and not to be too lax about the regulations. It is
good if there is a balance, a balance limitation is good for the company. Through
the intranet, the company will be able to improve because of the communication
between both of the bosses and the employee. It is important to keep in mind
that there should be a control of these. Company will benefit from the intranet but
also the company should monitor the use of intranet because without the regular
monitoring of it the employees’ productivity may lessen because of it.

48.When corporate intranets are not constrained by fear and legalistic rules, the
type of conversation they encourage sounds remarkably like the conversation
of the networked marketplace.

A lot of employees are braced by fear so they are not able to work and
speak their minds properly. It is because of fear that most of us cannot do what is
asked of us. Although it is important to set limitations and control on the use of
intranet, it is also important to make sure that employees were not constrained by
fear and legalistic rules. It is important to create balance on the limitations. If the

employees were constrained by fear then they will not be able to speak their
minds. The use of the intranet will be forfeited because they were not able to
communicate what they want. Intranet was created for the communication of
everyone in the workplace but if the employees were constrained by fear then the
goal of intranet will not be achieved. Conversation of the networked marketplace
is good for the company because it encourages corporate ideas that are good for
the company. Corporate intranets that are not constrained by fear and legalistic
rules will also help the in creating a good atmosphere for their workers. Workers
would not feel restricted and they were able to more productive in working. The
atmosphere in the workplace is also the same with the ambience in the corporate
intranets, if the employees feel that they are not able to move in the company
then they tend to be lazy and inefficient. It will be the best move for a company
not to be strict in the communication of employees for they hinder the sharing of
good ideas between the workers and the bosses.

49.Orgcharts worked in an older economy where plans could be fully understood

from atop steep management pyramids and detailed work orders could be
handed down from on high.

During the old times a lot of companies use the hierarchy method wherein
they use the organization charts to be able to see the hierarchy of positions and
functions of each. Usually, the ones on top were the ones who came up with a
goal and they think of a big plan, the other employees downward were the ones
who strategize for the goal of the higher bosses, and they were the ones who do
the small things and details of the company. Usually, the workers downward are
the ones who really work hard to reach a certain goal made by the bosses.
During the old times, this step was the prevalent one because it makes the goals
look easy and achievable but if you are an employee of this kind of company, it
will be hard for you to climb up because you have many positions to go through
that has the same kind of job. The pyramid of hierarchy is a strategy of a
company to slow down the climb of the employees. Since a lot of things change
nowadays, the prevalent one the horizontal style of a company where everyone
has a chance to shine and be able to diversify work. Also employees were given
a chance to widen their work scope and they are able to try to do lot of things in
the company. Horizontal style of management is good for the company because
employees will be encourage to do their work and do their best in everything.

50.Today,the org chart is hyperlinked, not hierarchical. Respect for hands-on

knowledge wins over respect for abstract authority.

A lot of companies today use the horizontal kind of organization chart than
the hierarchical because it is not costly and is more efficient for the company.
The horizontal or hyperlink is economical for the company because it does not
have lots of positions for the employees and there will be lesser salaries for

them. An example of the horizontal or hyperlinked is the position of a manager, in
a hierarchical way there is a line manager, staff manager, general manager and
so on but in a hyperlinked chart there will be only one manager and he/she would
be doing all the functions of a manager. If we look at in the company’s point of
view it will good for them because there will less employees employed but if we
look at it in the employees’ point of view it will be much difficult for them because
there will be lots of work on their shoulders. Hyperlinked charts encourage
employees to be efficient and to work hard because they have to be the best in
this kind of chart in order to survive. Hands- on knowledge wins over the abstract
authority because in a hyperlinked chart there is no authority, the one who lands
a positions is usually the one who knows a lot, knowledgeable and skillful.
Knowledge is more important than authority, the one who knows more then
he/she will able to function and land the job. It is important for an individual to
keep himself/herself educated and updated because nowadays companies need
employees who are very reliable, intelligent and competitive.

51.Command-and-control management styles both derive from and reinforce

bureaucracy, power tripping and an overall culture of paranoia.

Command and control management usually build the administration of the

company. Administration or the organization of a company identifies itself from
the command- and- control management styles. Usually the command and
control management style identifies or represent the administration of company.
If a company was not able to set the difference between the command and
control of the management the company would be in chaos. It is important for a
company to draw the difference between the two because the employees will be
confused. If there is no different between the limitations and functions of the
command and control, then there will be a paranoia and confusion of power.
Employees and the company will not function well if there is confusion between
the command and control. It is very important for a company to avoid confusion.
The culture of the company sets the ambience for working; if the culture is in
paranoia then the overall culture does not set the good ambience for working. It
will be better if the company would combine the 2 powers to avoid confusion and
to avoid power tripping. Power tripping is not really good for a company, it will
just add to the paranoia of the whole workforce. Directors should be very careful
in creating a command and control because it is again essential for the growth of
the company. Confusion in the workplace will create chaos between its
employees so it is important to see to it that everything is running smoothly to be
able to reach there goal.

52.Paranoiakills conversation. That's its point. But lack of open conversation

kills companies.

Talking things out in a company is very important so everyone knows what
to do and where to stand. Conversations are very essential to a company
because in a conversation they will be able to know the needs and concerns of
the persons in a workplace. Indeed paranoia kills conversations and lack of
conversations kills companies. When there is confusion within the company, the
tendency of employees and directors is to stop conserving and just act as if there
is nothing wrong; in this situation it is better if there is an on-going conversation
where in they could talk things out. Conversation is for the betterment of a
company, through conversation companies will be able to know more of their
market. Without good conversations companies will die. Goals of a company will
be achieved through good conversations. Through conversation companies will
come up with strategies, goals, work plans and rules for a company to run but
without conversations a company will die because no one is talking and reaching
out. Through conversations companies will be able to respond to the needs of
the market, without conversations they will not be able to understand their
market. Confusion is caused by power tripping and it kills conversation and
without conversation companies will die. The success of the company depends
on the willingness of the company to connect with everyone in the workplace for
if they fail to connect and reach out, the company will experience little by little
death through the market.

53.Thereare two conversations going on. One inside the company. One with
the market.

This phrase also applies to us all individuals, there are 2 conversations

going on, one is our conversation with our one self and one with the outside
world or people that surrounds us. This phrase applies both to ourselves and to
companies although there is a slight difference but the concept and goal of both
are the same. In order to communicate effectively with other people, we have to
converse with ourselves also, we have to know who we are and how do we
converse properly. Also with conversing with the outside world, we can know
more about ourselves this also applies to companies. Companies have 2
conversations one is within the company and the other one is outside the
company. Companies converse within the company by talking and connecting to
its employees and other people inside the company, it is not limited to the people
but companies can communicate through articles, rules and regulations.
Conversation in inside the company is as important as he conversation with the
market because conversation inside the company reflects or mirrors the way
companies would communicate with other people. Through conversing with the
people inside the company, the company leaders and directors would learn more
about the market through the ideas and suggestions of the people inside the
company. People inside the company is just the same with market, they could
also give you some advice and suggestions bout the future or prospective
market, people inside the company can also be the company’s market.

54.Inmost cases, neither conversation is going very well. Almost invariably,
the cause of failure can be traced to obsolete notions of command and
control.

Conversation within and outside the company is very essential for the
growth of the company. Many of the companies today fail to make good
conversation. Failure to connect or to communicate within and outside the
company will be an omen to the company, first failure to connect and reach out
means failure to know the market and failure to understand the market means
failure of the goal of the market. Conversations fail because of the command and
control confusion. Companies usually create confusion between the command
and control because they fail to set the limitations and regulations of both
management styles. Command and control in a company is very important
because it creates harmony and sets the company in order but if the company
does not set clearly the borderlines of the command and control. It is good for
companies today to incorporate the two functions to avoid confusion and to avoid
power tripping. The obsolete notions of command and control are the power
tripping and confusion between these functions. Usually employees mix both
power and this creates confusion between the management styles. Command
and control styles usually abuse their power and extend to the limit which results
to the paranoia and confusion in the workplace. Confusion and paranoia will lead
to losing of the chance to be able to have a good conversation which very
essential for a company. Conversations in a company is very important because
sets the mood for a good future of a company. To be able to converse well
entails proper management of a company.

55.Aspolicy, these notions are poisonous. As tools, they are broken.

Command and control are met with hostility by intranetworked knowledge
workers and generate distrust in internetworked markets.

Whenever we hear the command and control word, we think of fear and
limitations. The reasons why we think of it as poisons because we associate
those words with fear. Usually words that are associated with fear are not good
on setting the atmosphere in the workplace. Command and control are met with
hostility, this statement is true because employees usually are not in good terms
with these management styles. Employees are confused by the powers and
functions of each style. Usually the command and control center of a company
abuse their power, cannot identify their limit which create hostility to the
employees. Whenever the command and control center would announce new
things via intranet and employees would ignore it and usually would not agree
with it. Employees distrust the management because of the command and
control styles, the distrust formed in a company is not good for the company.
Distrust will ruin the goals of the company specially the conversations inside and
outside the company. Indeed the company should avoid creating the command
and control styles because they will create confusion and distrust inside the
company. If the company would like to create a command and control, I think

they should study it very well in order to avoid distrust in the company. Command
and control styles should not be separated but it will be good to mix the two
powers because employees would have a hard time in obeying the two systems.
Thorough study of these styles would prevent distrust and will help the company
to grow.

56.Thesetwo conversations want to talk to each other. They are speaking the
same language. They recognize each other's voices.

It is said that it always ‘takes two to tango’ in everything in order to make a

good music, graceful dance and a successful company. It is also the same with
conversation, in order to communicate effectively both sides each should
respond to the needs of the other. Conversations inside and outside the
company is very essential for its growth. Both conversations within the company
and outside is the same, what the inside is talking or relating to the company is
usually the same with the market. Both of the employees within the company and
outside the company wants and needs are the same. Both of them talk to each
other in a very casual way so companies should hire really good employees so
that hey could get information about their market. Employees and market interact
with each other and usually they listen and respond to each others’ needs. It is
very important for a company to listen and communicate within the workplace
because what the workplace would speak of is the same with what the market
wants. Conversations within the company is very crucial to the success of the
company because if the employees would not like the conversation between
them and the company it will lead to the downfall of the company because they
would misunderstand the employees and the future market. Employees’
conversation with the company is the same with the market. So the company
needs to talk gently and carefully with the employees because conversations with
them is very crucial.

57.Smart
companies will get out of the way and help the inevitable to happen
sooner.

A good company knows how to foresee things and plans for their own
good because change is inevitable. A company who knows how to make plans
for the future will not be left out but they will be able to cope up easily with
change. Of course there are some things that companies cannot control like
things in the future though they cannot control some things they can prevent and
be ready for those things. Planning and strategizing is very important for a
company and that who thoroughly studies their market is a smart company. So
what really is a smart company? A smart company is the one to prepares,
strategize, studies their future market. Also a smart company knows to get out of
their way in case there is an uncontrollable thing in the future. Getting out of their
way means they can do things that are not required of them. Smart companies
plan things for the future and usually help the expected to happen sooner
because they are prepared and not afraid of it. Smart companies know what they

want and know how to get it. Since there are uncontrollable things in the future,
smart companies know of them and know how to handle them. Companies today
are smart and do some studies about the future market, since companies are
smart nowadays they want the future to happen sooner because they are long
prepared for it and they want to see other companies suffer changes. Smart
companies are very good in strategizing for the future that they sell the future
today so that the future will happen soon and so that they could be the number 1
and many companies would be left out.

58.Ifwillingness to get out of the way is taken as a measure of IQ, then very
few companies have yet wised up.

Companies should practice to get out of their way so that they will know
how to act on the future. Companies should be very smart so that their business
will not die. Things will not be the same in the future, companies who want to
continue business then they should know how to cope up with things. It is true
that willingness to get out of the way is taken as a measure of IQ, so companies
who are intelligent knows how to do get out of the way. Of course, yes, it is a
measure of IQ when a company thinks out of the box. In order to strategize well
the company should have a high IQ, high in the sense that they know how to
plan, when to plan and when to carry out their plan. Very few companies are wise
and a lot of them should invest more of the think-thank team of a company so
that they could wised up. Wised up means that they are able to think how to
strategize and make the most of their resources. Companies should also invest
on their employees to be able to wise and ace in the future. They could wise up
their employees by giving out continuous seminars and with those seminars
employees will learn and be able to contribute their learning to the whole
company. Getting out of the way by means of the IQ is not usually born in a born;
it is usually develop as time goes by. The IQ of the company will increase every
year because they are able to develop it with continuous studying by the use of
seminars

59.However subliminally at the moment, millions of people now online

perceive companies as little more than quaint legal fictions that are actively
preventing these conversations from intersecting.

People or the market usually perceives lots of companies to still be using

the old style or way of management where in companies were not
communicating with them. Conversation is very important for a company and
market to work hand –in-hand. Without conversations, the market would have a
hard time in understanding and knowing who their prospective market is. Market
or people have this connotation that companies would not want to talk to them so
the conversations between the company and people would not work out. During
the old times many companies does not want to interact with the people because
they are afraid that they would leak some information about the company but this
style had change to the present one because businesses and people change.

Changes can be seen through the interaction and response of both parties.
Interaction nowadays are every important for a company because through
interaction companies will know more about their market. People today also have
the opposite idea about the conversations between them and the company.
People today do not want to converse with the company because they are either
to busy with things or they do not want some information about them would leak.
Companies today should double their effort to converse with the people so that
they will understand more their market. Companies should befriend or give out
goodies in order to get information and to be able to interact with the people. It is
also important to assure the people that information got form them would be very
confidential.

60.This is suicidal. Markets want to talk to companies

Usually it is the companies that want to talk to market but if market wants
to talk to companies is a different idea. When markets want to talk to companies,
companies would be very nervous and sometimes want to keep their ears shut,
but market wants to talk to companies because they want to voice out their
complain, their suggestions and sometimes they even want to sue the company.
When companies hear that markets want to talk to them they want to hide
because they are afraid and the connotation that markets want to talk to them is
bad. When markets want to talk to companies is said to be suicidal because they
are pouring out all their information about them, it is also considered suicidal
because some companies would not try to listen to the complaints of the market.
It would be good for the two parties to communicate and find a common ground
between them so that they would be able to fix their problems without harming
both parties. Market should not take talking to companies as suicidal because
their communication would benefit them both in different areas. Companies
should be very open to listen to the complaints because these complaints would
make the company better and perform productively. Market should also
remember not to take the talk between them and the company as a suicide on
their part because once they talk to the companies, their suggestion or
complaints will be responded to immediately, efficiently and the out come for
them will be good.

61. Sadly, the part of the company a networked market wants to talk to is
usually hidden behind a smokescreen of hucksterism, of language that rings
false—and often is.

Although companies interact with their clients or consumers, they hide

something, something that each one of us has the right or rather to say it, the
privilege to know what it is, what will it feels like that your are providers are true to
you. They do not lie about their service or etc because as of now, marketing agents
roves around the street to sell their products on housewives or maids. They do some

sales talks and other gimmicks that might capture the interest of the buyer, knowing
that they are hiding something else. It is also the same with conversation of the
companies to their buyers on the net. They hide something that sales agents on the
streets do not tell; they simply show the image of the product, specifications and
other specifications that might tell that it is error free. They do not confess on how it
is being processed and what are the ingredients used in manufacturing the product.
you will just click the button “Buy” then a prompt will display “Please pay here, enter
your credit card, not a member yet, wanna upgrade and more...” So, they take away
from you the value of you, as a consumer that must be serve loyal, honest and
guarded at all cost.

62. Markets do not want to talk to flacks and hucksters. They want to
participate in the conversations going on behind the corporate firewall.

Like what I’ve said in number 61, buyers must be served with loyalty,
honesty and must be guarded at all cost. These traits may be shown to us by the
providers through letting us breach their 20 inches thick shield wall and let us be part
of the air they breathe and inhale. Let their thoughts be our thoughts, their ideas will
come from us, our suggestion will be their start up and our value as their motivation I
polishing their service. A consumer likes to be heard and to listen to their provider’s
plans because he cares for his own interests. It is a simple concept that the
companies must considered at all times, to let us be part of their geeky thing. As a
customer, I believe that in order to make the service of a certain resto or service
center be better, they must listen diligently from us. That is why whenever I go to a
restaurant and a waitress approaches me and lends a ballpen with a suggestion
form, I had no hesitation to fill up the form because they must learn to value our
opinions and for us to practice the proper way of addressing a problem rather than
confronting a waiter and making him/her ashamed on front of other customers.

63. De-cloaking, getting personal: We are those markets. We want to talk to

you.

When I am free from obligations in school and house, I usual go to a nearest

mall. I roam around an look for things such as cell phone gadgets, computers and
other technological stuffs. One time, a customer approach a sales lady, the sales
lady is “suplada”. She is the one who instigates to the buyer that she must buy this
rather than that. The buyer reacts and says, “I am the customer, so listen to me.” In
this scenario, the reaction of the customer implies that it already proves that we
express our thoughts on selecting items that may considered by the manufacturers
in knowing the customer’s taste. We talk to them through our ideas in choosing our
wanted products and service. They must listen to us because we give them what
they need, the money. We want to be heard, entertained and be cared in order to
give them the proper loyalty in which they crave from us. The markets are
conversation wherein continues flow of communication thrives in every words and

actions they portray. They prefer to be part of something rather than to be nothing on
the eyes of their favorite brand manufacturers.

64. We want access to your corporate information, to your plans and

strategies, your best thinking, your genuine knowledge. We will not settle for
the 4-color brochure, for web sites chock-a-block with eye candy but lacking
any substance.

In the beginning of the automobiles, Henry Ford only prefers his customer to
choose any color they want as long as it is black. No other colors than black. Why
Black? Is it only the color they know how to mix up? Or it is the only color that Ford
can give. They didn’t give any answer on the issue of car color but the buyers do not
give any violent reaction on that but rather than they patronize the available color.
Why does most of the company plans secretly? Maybe there are secrets if released,
might change the perception of their buyers to them. But this is all wrong, we are the
customer, we must know. We must know the details that might give helps us in
choosing the best product that may, not might, that may satisfy our needs as a
consumer. Hey companies, let us in! we are sick of the face of your brand actresses,
sick of gimmicks and other silly jokes. We want to be part of your planning and
actions because we are your mother, the alma mater, your brother, sister and your
foundation at all times. We are your voice and eyes. We spoke what we see and
heard so, listen.

65. We're also the workers who make your companies go. We want to talk to
customers directly in our own voices, not in platitudes written into a script.

In a workplace, it is encourage in letting your workers interact with their peers or

close ones inside to relieve work pressure and boost self esteem. This will also allow
them to express their ideas and the ones that might help you in motivating your
employees in working because they are in a team. Unity in the team will lessen the
burden of each person into a half because the weight is spread into a larger area.
Simple Physics, a building will not fall if the weight is distributed in a wider base area
which is similar to your workforce. The market is your medium in spreading the word
about your organization. Promotion is not being always done with advertisement
alone rather than it must be spread through the word of mouth. Word of mouth is
effective usual if there is a group of people that are talking about you. Your company
is already being advertise with a zero cost at all.

66. As markets, as workers, both of us are sick to death of getting our

information by remote control. Why do we need faceless annual reports and
third-hand market research studies to introduce us to each other?

Being a part of the market wherein conversation happens and being a worker or
a medium in spreading the word, we are tired of lies and cover- ups instead we do
our jobs perfectly. Perfectly in a sense that we are markets that transactions and
conversations happen and mediums that lets the current of conversation continues

flowing. We are given the privilege by our law to express our thoughts but, it is being
violated of those who hide their true colors from us. We do not need representatives,
we want them to explain and allow us to mix up with them and become a stronger
market. When we are already mixed up, there is no more top or middle
management, employee and employer or buyer and company but instead we are as
one. The stronger market can now perform tasks that the company alone cannot like
fast promotion of the product. The market is now counting on their known figures
and reports and scraps the reports that are once useless due it has no value.

67. As markets, as workers, we wonder why you're not listening. You seem to
be speaking a different language.

Speaking different language against the language widely used by the market is a
terrible problem that must be solve immediately rather it may cost you a lot. It’s
terrible in a sense that the market you are part of is increasingly growing into market
that is united in business industry. The market listens to those markets whose speak
in the same language because they believe that they are one who can interpret and
understand their perception about the e-commerce and other types of industry.
Jargons are minimized due they talk to their customers that majority of its part is
common people that has small amount information on certain aspects regarding on
their specific industry. In order to avoid this miscommunication, the company or
providers must lay down their knees rather than taking the advantage of the
weaknesses of their customers in the field. They will listen if you listen them first
because they will tell you on what kind of approach they need from you. Is it basic or
advanced, try to blend some mixes and you will find it right.

68. The inflated self-important jargon you sling around—in the press, at your
conferences—what's that got to do with us?

Jargons are minimized due they talk to their customers that majority of its part is
common people that has small amount information on certain aspects regarding on
their specific industry. In order to avoid this miscommunication, the company or
providers must lay down their knees rather than taking the advantage of the
weaknesses of their customers in the field. They will listen if you listen them first
because they will tell you on what kind of approach they need from you. It will create
difficulties as you communicate with your customer through the use of jargon words.
It will be spit out and never be accepted by many in which will flap your company.
For example you will discuss a certain specs and feature of your product to a starter
computer user. You use jargon words in explaining things up. Do you think he will
get it? He will only smiles but in the back of his mind, he will say to you that you are
nuts.

69. Maybe you're impressing your investors. Maybe you're impressing Wall
Street. You're not impressing us.

Impressing your investors and the Wall Street will help you in boosting your
company’s status through your techy words? Think again because we are now in
recession baby! No one will easily be fooled by your melodramatic words instead
you will make them pissed off because again your are nuts. The market simply
needs the right words that they may understood. They don’t need fancy serenades
rather they need guidelines that may help them in availing things in the market.
Impress the customers first, then the investor because investors will automatically
approach you if they observe and convinced that people patronize you. They are just
assuring themselves that they will profit from you due to it is so terrible to lose a
large amount of investment in a specific project. The investors need their investment
to returned back with collected interests in order to ensure them that they need to
support you at all cost or else they will need to bailout.

70. If you don't impress us, your investors are going to take a bath. Don't they
understand this? If they did, they wouldn't let you talk that way.

As far as I know, in the business world investors always look for ways that might
support their interests to bloom. They will invest on projects were the market will accept
it. They love figures that are high on popularity, high on profit, low cost and 89% risk
free. So if I was assigned by my boss to propose a 3 year sales forecast on the front of
the investors, I will see to it that they will be impressed and delighted if they invest on
our proposal or else, I will dump and be picked on a dumpsters. I will show on my
forecast that our product A is greater than the competitors product’s A, B and C or in
other words, it is one of a kind. Investors prefer factual reports and has basis to ensure
on themselves that they will invest on a project were they will profit. But, in order to
complete the task in impressing your investors first, learn to attract the market. Why?
Their trust and loyalty will support you in your proposal. No investors will reject a
proposal which is accepted by the market or if so, they are idiots.

71. Your tired notions of "the market" make our eyes glaze over. We don't
recognize ourselves in your projections—perhaps because we know we're
already elsewhere.

If you are in the Marketing and Sales management, I believe that we must
dedicate yourself in ups and downs if your job is all about interaction with the market. A
sales agent will encounter numerous reactions and opinions but still, they must do their
job. This step will encourage more people to use your product. So, sales will increase
and the return of investment is good. The figures will reflect on your reports which will
be review by the investors. If they see the high figures, they will be glad and request to
be more creative in selling products. They will invest on projects were the market will
accept it. They love figures that are high on popularity, high on profit, low cost and 89%
risk free. Investors prefer factual reports and has basis to ensure on themselves that
they will invest on a project were they will profit. But, in order to complete the task in
impressing your investors first, learn to attract the market.

72. We like this new marketplace much better. In fact, we are creating it.

The market likes the new world of interaction wherein they can interact and
experience the thrill of communication. In the new market place, people create new
things and express themselves in many forms such as daily speakers express their new
ideas through blogs. The BLOG world helps them in writing their thoughts while others
read and comment based on their own perspectives. People familiarize and develop
themselves to the new era where things become technological enhanced. Because of
internet expansion, companies like Armani, Nine west and other retailers focus their ads
on the internet. The expense for placing an advertisement is much cheaper than placing
in the billboards, TV commercial and other advertising Medias where in fact that many
viewers can be view their ads. Donations are also done in just 1 click like in facebook
and other social networks. So other gimmick are being born as it flows with the rapid
expansion of the net virus into each person.

73. You're invited, but it's our world. Take your shoes off at the door. If you want
to barter with us, get down off that camel!

If you are in the Marketing and Sales management, I believe that we must

born as it flows with the rapid expansion of the net virus into each person.

74. We are immune to advertising. Just forget it.

How does a company introduce their new line of products like cars, perfumes,
noodles and other stuffs that their customer uses? Why do they perform advertisements
in their pick Medias? Because they know that advertisements will save their asses from
failure. That’s right! Sales agents talk lustrous and hypnotizing talks that will make us
invulnerable from their strategies. Companies are fool if they believe that
advertisements in the net will serves as an advantage to their consumers. if they do the
latter sentence, let us give them a big laugh. I am one of the few that knows that
internets serve as a communication media throughout the world. It will allow people to
ask questions and express their ideas for an idea or object. So, the difference between
the ad in the TV against the ad in the net is big. Why? Because we can react as we see

the advertisements by a company in the web were it can be seen worldwide than seeing
it only at our TV and giving reactions about it to our families and close friends within that
area.

75. If you want us to talk to you, tell us something. Make it something interesting
for a change.

Talking to the consumers, is a very crucial part for a sales representative

because every word or ideas they says, represents the whole company. Let the action
set asides and the talk begins. Why do sales agents do the same routine every time
they face with potential or actual buyers? Sales agents must express their talks in one
pass with the main and sub details intact with it. They are also aware that their talks
must be as interesting as a cow that first perform the trip to the moon or the dog who
knows the dictionary well. Exaggerating on the part of the sales agent but, effective if
they do it correctly. If I were the listener, it will be interesting for me it will shows the
main features I want rather than being recommended due to it is unique or has the
lowest price in the area. Expound the good quality attributes then precede to the bad
ones after the first 20 minutes of talk. Elaborate things correctly and concise because
customers utilize their time correctly.

76. We've got some ideas for you too: some new tools we need, some better
service. Stuff we'd be willing to pay for. Got a minute?

The statement mentioned above simply shows the approach of all sales
representatives or even bosses that wants us to be part of their customer line. As they
approach us, what are the first impressions we do? We might ignore them, entertain
them or even say things that are positive or negative. Whatever our response, it is still
important on their part to evaluate their strategy in making their advertisement more
appealing to us. These representatives may suggest ideas like if a lady went to an
under garment shop, sales lady offers this that and etc until the suggestions piles up in
the mind of the customers. Although this method is being done all over the time, they
still used it because they believe that it may attract more customers to buy and
patronize their products.

77. You're too busy "doing business" to answer our email? Oh gosh, sorry, gee,
we'll come back later. Maybe.

Um… if someone calls you like your love one, will you entertain him/her? The
answer is yes but if a customer calls you to order or perform a transaction in the middle
of your personal activities. Maybe it may cause them to come back later which is mere
to happen or rather they had decided to look for another seller that might suffice their
needs. I believe that the first thing that a businessman or seller must remember that
they must learn or do to value their respective customers. Although it is hard for the part
of the seller to sacrifice something for the sake of entertaining a business transaction, it
is worth it because it will give the business extra income or higher revenue. Valuing the
customer is essential in establishing the company strong it will dictate the flow of the

operations and everything. As far as I am concern, every person in the market wants to
be part of a something or an event because they know it will be the cause of their
involvement in the society. So, companies are thinking of gimmicks or promotion that
might attract the attention of the market in which they will benefit more and more than
ever.

78. You want us to pay? We want you to pay attention.

I believe that the first thing that a businessman or seller must remember that they
must learn or do to value their respective customers. Although it is hard for the part of
the seller to sacrifice something for the sake of entertaining a business transaction, it is
worth it because it will give the business extra income or higher revenue. Actually the
customers are willing to pay if it will satisfy their own needs. These representatives may
suggest ideas like if a lady went to an under garment shop, sales lady offers this that
and etc until the suggestions piles up in the mind of the customers. Although this
method is being done all over the time, they still used it because they believe that it may
attract more customers to buy and patronize their products. In this way we will pay and
hope that the after service will be good.

79. We want you to drop your trip, come out of your neurotic self-involvement,
join the party.

As far as I am concern, every person in the market wants to be part of a

something or an event because they know it will be the cause of their involvement in the
society. So, companies are thinking of gimmicks or promotion that might attract the
attention of the market in which they will benefit more and more than ever. For example,
a new telecommunication company is rising, THE RED mobile. Red mobile offers 0.50
cents a minute call to their Red mobile subscribers where as it is only effective on Red
to Red mobile. Red mobile releases ads that are unique like a girl is telling her boyfriend
that she already loves him. So the guy respond but, did you know on what kind of
response did the boyfriend do, a disconnection or voice prompt notice if the one you are
calling is out of reach or unattended. It is very funny but the only point is the mass must
shift to Red mobile, as simple as that, but appealing. Other ads are like the one
mentioned above, companies uses the popularity of a certain celebrity like Rees
Witherspoon that in every lipstick you buy in Avon, a certain amount will be given to
those victim of aids and famine in Africa. Companies perform these strategies especially
in marketing, in order to convince people that if they subscribe or use their service, they
will have benefits fro it.

80. Don't worry, you can still make money. That is, as long as it's not the only
thing on your mind.

Earning money in every sold product is important on every salesperson in a store

because their own managers are pushing them to acquire a specific quota like the
required quota of jeans in one day is 50 or 100, the sales persons must think for a
strategy that can convince and attract customer to buy a jean. According to my own

understanding of the concept, reaching the quota, the management avoids the piling up
of their inventory stocks into a level that they are forced to held a surplus sales or
discounts in order to lessen the amount of items in their inventory due to it will
depreciate and acquire cost. but, there are certain stores that limits their inventory such
as Zara and dell based from the example of our professor. Our professor tells us that
Zara, a prestige fashion shop is limiting their stocks through they only order materials
that are in fashion or in season to lessen the cost and limit the inventory level. On the
other hand, Dell, a computing company will only assemble the laptops if it is in order.
The company will assemble it for 2 hours and 1 hour for shipment. In this case, you will
still earn money but, less cost ad time in manufacturing the product so in effect, the
revenue will boost on staggering values.

81. Have you noticed that, in itself, money is kind of one-dimensional and boring?
What else can we talk about?

Um… actually it is fun to talk about money, how it will rise and how to lessen the
cost. How does the money affect the choice of each customer in buying a pair of shoes
for her daughter? Is the price applicable for each Filipino mother knowing that moms are
he ones who are making the budget for the whole family? Money, money, money makes
everything round. But is their any ideas or gossips must talks about. Um? Is the
economic crisis will last long? Will it cripple the entire economy for at least a year? How
many months or years we can recover. I am a big aficionado of discussing things
related to the recession we are experiencing right now. We must blame the Americans
because if only they eliminate their habit in buying large houses knowing it is being paid
through loans or credits. Simple physics, if the foundation crumbles, everything also
crumbles. Recession is related to money but it is much more specific. I believe that if a
certain economy under went a recession, it will take 2 years to recover. New investors
will immerge and small business will boom slowly but the recovery period will only take
2 years? I believe not, we must only pray for miracles that god might turn the wheel
upside down again.

82. Your product broke. Why? We'd like to ask the guy who made it. Your
corporate strategy makes no sense. We'd like to have a chat with your CEO. What
do you mean she's not in?

I think that if you give the reason to your customer to be pissed, stop it now. It is
so dangerous for a company if they pisses or does not provide the right product or
service to their customer because it might result into something negative. I know
somebody that if he is not satisfied on the service of the store, he complains to the
highest level, ask for the presence of the manager, says negative things in front of the
buyers and other negative stuffs that might destroys the status of he company.
Protection of the customers against this type of bad services might not be avoided but
there are other ways that might suffice these majeures, for example, opening more
cashiers in department sale, more available helping person in department stores and
other convenient services. A good service is the first attribute a customer is looking for
because they look for something that may satisfy their needs and other personal wants.

83. We want you to take 50 million of us as seriously as you take one reporter
from The Wall Street Journal.

Valuing the buyers or clients is an essential task that must be done correctly and
smoothly in order to avoid the complaints or negative feedbacks against the company
due to inappropriate communication with its customers. I think that if you give the
reason to your customer to be pissed, stop it now. It is so dangerous for a company if
they pisses or does not provide the right product or service to their customer because it
might result into something negative. Good customer relations will be your advantage
against company that does not practice the Customer Relations Management due to it
help your representatives and employees to communicate with the company clients and
customers. As far as I am concern, every person in the market wants to be part of a
something or an event because they know it will be the cause of their involvement in the
society. A good service is the first attribute a customer is looking for because they look
for something that may satisfy their needs and other personal wants. Issues regarding
the relations of the company with the market must be taken seriously in order to
minimize or even avoid complications and negative results.

84. We know some people from your company. They're pretty cool online. Do you
have any more like that you're hiding? Can they come out and play?

Market or the people look for someone who is interested in entertaining the
customer to the fullest. Customer or buyers look for a person that will provide them their
needs and wants. Valuing the buyers or clients is an essential task that must be done
correctly and smoothly in order to avoid the complaints or negative feedbacks against
the company due to inappropriate communication with its customers. I think that if you
give the reason to your customer to be pissed, stop it now. It is so dangerous for a
company if they pisses or does not provide the right product or service to their customer
because it might result into something negative. Good customer relations will be your
advantage against company that does not practice the Customer Relations
Management due to it help your representatives and employees to communicate with
the company clients and customers. We don’t need those sales representatives that are
impatient and bossy rather we need those who might give suggestions that are good
and their primary concern is the satisfaction of the customer.

85.When we have questions we turn to each other for answers. If you didn't
have such a tight rein on "your people" maybe they'd be among the people
we'd turn to.

Companies always look for answers to their problem and a lot of times
they question those who are inside the company, the high position holders who
gave them blank answers. The answers that the companies need are from their
market and the people who work for them. Usually they search the answer or
solve for the answer inside the boardroom but nowadays it is different, answers
came from their market. The market or the target customers hold the answer for
every company’s question because they are the ones who the companies want

to please. The market has the answer to the company’s problem because they
are their customers and they hold the key for the company’s success.
Companies usually does not turn to their market for answers instead they work
on it alone, but it is important to get the opinion of their customers. Companies
have the Research ad Development team to study the needs and wants of their
customers but it is not enough just to put a R&D team, it is very important for a
company to regularly talk to their market to know what they want. Companies
should have a center for the concerns of their customers because it will be very
helpful in answering for their problems. If the company was be able to put up that
center for customers’ concerns then it will be easy for them to answer the needs
and questions inside the company. Companies should try working with their
market because it will be for the benefit of the company as well as their market.

86.When we're not busy being your "target market," many of us are your
people. We'd rather be talking to friends online than watching the clock.
That would get your name around better than your entire million dollar web
site. But you tell us speaking to the market is Marketing's job.

People inside the company can also be the company’s market actually
they are the ones who are very opinionated and what they have in mind usually
is what the market is thinking. The company should not underestimate the power
of the people inside their company. People inside their company are also their
market because they are also customers. People inside the company also know
how to be a customer and how to think as a customer. They are also people who
know what they want in a product and what attracts them most. Company should
talk to them regularly because talking and communicating with them is as if they
are also the customers. Company should have a relationship with their
employees because their employees would give them the keys to succeed. Their
employees are also a good example of marketing, so it is important for a
company to take good care of their employees because employees are the best
marketers for the company’s products. People inside the company should believe
to what is the company stands for and create so that they will be able to market
the products of the company effectively. It is said that the employees are the best
marketers so the company should regularly talk to their employees. Employees
are very important to the company because they are the heart of the company
and they are also the best advertisers of the company’s products. Companies
should not ignore their employees’ opinion but instead listen to them because
they can learn a lot from the ideas and suggestions given to them.

87.We'd like it if you got what's going on here. That'd be real nice. But it would
be a big mistake to think we're holding our breath.

Target market or the customers are keys to the success of a company so

it is very important to please them. Customers will bite any idea of a company if it
is made for them and it is very reasonable but customers will not bite the idea if
the idea is not focused on the customers. Customers know what they want and

they are willing to talk their wants to a company so that the company will
concretize the ideas of the customers. After listening and studying the concepts,
the needs and wants of their market the company will be able to come up with an
idea to satisfy and please the customers. Customers usually patronize things if it
is focused on their needs but customers also have the power to ignore and
eventually lead to death of a product. If a company thinks that customers are not
completely telling what they want then they would be ignoring the concepts of
their market and the market will not patronize the product produce by that
company because they feel that it is not made for their use and it is not focused
on the customers. Customers usually are very sensitive to new products; they
would study it and ask many questions about a product before trying it to make
sure that the product is really beneficial to them. Customers who enjoy the
product will be loyal and patronize the company. It is very important for the
company to listen and make sure that the needs and concerns of the market are
addressed well because the goal of companies will be achieve through pleasing
their market or target customers.

88.We have better things to do than worry about whether you'll change in time
to get our business. Business is only a part of our lives. It seems to be all
of yours. Think about it: who needs whom?

It is hard to please everyone but companies have to please their market

because the life of the company rest unto their market. It is hard to please
customers but once you have please them, rest assured that customers will be
loyal and forever support the company. Usually it really hard to get information
from the customers, companies have to build good and effective relationship with
them and should give incentives so that could they could both communicate with
each other. Also the company should build a good reputation because customers
are very nosy about the reputation of a company and they will not be willing to
give information about them if they know that the company is not good and
competent one. Companies need market and customers who are loyal to them in
order to survive the business and eventually expand. It is in the customers that
lay the life and success of a company. Without the customers there would be no
company so it is very important for the company to please them. Company
should engrave in their vision and mission the needs and concerns of their
market; they should also keep in mind that they really need customers in order to
survive by keeping that in mind. Pleasing customers is a sign that the company
will grow in the future because it is in the customers that the future of the
company rest. Companies need to build a good reputation so that customers will
trust them and be loyal to them and lastly companies should always remember
that they need customers for life so they have to work hard to get because after
getting customers for life they will be success in the future.

89.We have real power and we know it. If you don't quite see the light, some
other outfit will come along that's more attentive, more interesting, more
fun to play with.

It is in the market or customers that lies the life, bread and butter and
lastly the future of the company. It is very important to acknowledge the need of
the companies for a market that will be loyal to them. It is also important to take
note that market and customers are very powerful. Customers and target market
are very strong and manipulative when it comes to businesses because they
know that they are the heart of the business. In a snap of a finger they could tell
whether a company could stay or not in the business. The market is indeed very
powerful so companies should be alert to their needs. If the companies are not
competitive enough, they do not take in mind the needs of their market then their
market could shift directions and eventually this shift will lead to the death of the
business of the companies. Companies should remember that they are not the
ones who are controlling their profitability and stay in the business but it is in their
market. Companies should keep up with other competing companies to get the
attention of their target customers because it is all about the business of the
survival. Companies should make good relationship with their customers so that
they could both talk or communicate regularly their ideas with each other. The
company should have a customer center so that they will be able to know what it
is in their customers’ mind. It is all about pleasing the customers.

90.Even at its worst, our newfound conversation is more interesting than most
trade shows, more entertaining than any TV sitcom, and certainly more
true-to-life than the corporate web sites we've been seeing.

Customers are hard to please so the companies need to triple their effort
in knowing the things, trick that would please their customers. Target market can
be easily swayed by rumors and bad news, so the company needs to protect
their reputation. Customers always shift their buying power to other companies if
the recent company would not listen to their needs. Customers are said to be
hard to please and they do not just easily believe commercials and websites but
they are easily swayed by rumors so the company needs to triple their effort to
please the customer. What the customers want is real conversations with other
customers, company and people inside the company. Target market wants real
conversation because through the real conversation they will be able to know if
the company really is doing their job or they are just putting a mask. Customers
or target market can easily converse with competing company and competing
company can either spread bad rumor about a certain company or they could
use the information from the customer to compete or launch another product.
Companies need to make sure that they are delivering the best for their customer
and they also have to protect their reputation. Company should also make sure
that the people inside their company will not backstab them and will talk to
customers about good things about the company. People inside the company are
the best advertisers but they could also be the worse enemy of the company
because they could spread bad rumors about the company so the company
should take good care of their employees.

91.Our allegiance is to ourselves—our friends, our new allies and
acquaintances, even our sparring partners. Companies that have no part in
this world, also have no future.

Customers or target market are very powerful, they could make a

company rich but they could also make the company go down. Customers who
are not satisfied with the company could just bad mouth the company and from a
group that would destroy the company’s reputation. Since customers can form
allegiance, they are very powerful that they could define the future of the
company. Customers have also the power to talk to the competitor company and
they could both make a company go down. It is very important for a company to
know and understand the needs of their market. They should always put the
customer’s concern first on their list. It is very important to make the customers
feel that they important because if they feel so then would not shift companies
and would support the company all the way. Customers need to feel good and
important because companies need to please them because they are indeed
very powerful. Companies who do not make their customer’s concern their first
concern then it is implied that the company would not stay long. The company
needs the support of the customers to stay long in the business and grow.
Customers know and feel if the company is doing their best to please them and
they are happy about it but if companies don’t then they will not support the
company. Company and target market works hand in hand so that both of them
could enjoy the benefits of each other. Conversation between the two is very
importation because it keeps the business growing.

92. Companies are spending billions of dollars on Y2K. Why can't they hear
this market timebomb ticking? The stakes are even higher.

Companies know what they, they know their goals but a lot of times they
do not know how to achieve those goals. Companies prioritize customers or
target market but then they do not know what the best method is where in they
could prioritize their customers. A lot of companies put attractive websites and
commercials to please the customers and to advertise their new product. Yes, it
is also good to do those things but what is important is the product itself. The
new product of the company mirrors the concern of the company to its
customers. The innovated products also show the level of conversation between
the company and the customers. Products that well studied well researched on
for the benefit of the customers will be successful and be well supported by the
target market but if companies do not make such effort for the product then the
customers will not bite it. Every time the company innovates or produces a new
idea, their market time bomb will be always ticking, it would either explode
successfully or explode into the dumps. It is in the hand of the company to please
the market also it is in the hands of the target market the future of the company.
The company should not just invest on the advertisements and websites but they
should also study and converse with the customers. Market is very powerful

because they know that the life of the company depends on them so the
companies need to triple their effort in pleasing and understanding the market.

93.We're both inside companies and outside them. The boundaries that
separate our conversations look like the Berlin Wall today, but they're
really just an annoyance. We know they're coming down. We're going to
work from both sides to take them down.

Power is not just limited to customers but it extends to the people who are
also inside the company and they are the employees. Employees’ attitude
speaks about the company and they are as powerful as the market. Employees o
people inside the company could converse and relate to people inside the
company may it be customer or competitor. Employees can brag about how good
the company is or they could also bad mouth the company. People inside and
outside the company can make the company go down. People inside the
company are also powerful because they hold the key to the success of the
company. People inside the company should be well taken care of because they
could also predict the future of the company. Conversations should not be limited
to customers but should be extended to the employees as well. it is very
important that employees feel good and important as well because without the
employees there would be no work done. Employees and target market works
hand in hand, if employees brag how good the company is then the customers
will believe them. If companies would make a wall between the people inside and
outside then they would be also building a bridge to the death of their business. It
is important to make both people inside and outside feel that they well taken care
of, well listened to and attended to. Conversations between the outside and the
inside people is very important because company could pick strategies and could
learn a lot form both of them.

94.To traditional corporations, networked conversations may appear

confused, may sound confusing. But we are organizing faster than they
are. We have better tools, more new ideas, no rules to slow us down.

Technology gives everyone the power to be very powerful. Companies

that are traditional do not how to be cope up with the new technology and they
find themselves confuse for they have been left out a long time ago. Traditional
companies are usually left out because they do not know how to converse with
their market, being left out is just like dying every second. Traditional market
feels confused because everyone is so fast but then they are not. Competitor of
companies could use the weakness of the other company as their strength and
using this as strength could make the competitor as a strong company.
Customers or target market also converse through networks such as internet, cell
phones etc and they could use it to transfer information about their likes, needs
and concerns. If companies know how to use such things then they will be able
to cope up with the changing environment easily. Organization of ideas,
strategies and transfer of files would be easy if the company is able to cope up

with the new trend. Customers would be happy to know that the company is
walking with them as time changes, they also like convenience in convening their
suggestions to the company. Traditional companies usually die a natural death
without even trying to be techie and companies who know how to study their
market and go with the flow does not die but eventually grow as a business.
Customers like companies who connect to them in many different ways and in
that way they knew that the company is working hard to get their attention and
please them.

95.We are waking up and linking to each other. We are watching. But we are
not waiting.

The market is good place to experience things that may contribute to us

as a well being. We are able to discuss certain things with other people regarding
it is a factual conversation or just a damn gossips still, we can talk. Ideas come
out that sometimes leads us to an invention like Hackers are able to experience
and learn the way of hacking through other opinion and experiences. Um, I think
that the market helps us to be one. Am I right? Maybe, everybody has a different
point of view regarding on this topic. It is good to be linked to other people isn’t
it? Yeah, I know some that their happiness is he or she is being talked by other
people, a guy with small minds. But the fact is, we are linked, we are linked on
our thoughts and souls. We longed for acceptance and to be patronized by other
people. The long wait is over. It is over. As we live with the market, we watch
other’s actions and talk about it. we made their success and failures as our
subject and post it through verbal or non-verbal conversation. We talk and talk
without knowing that the time is running out for us to do things which is much
important than talking irrelevant things. But we still make fun of it because it is
the only way that will make us connected to the system of nothing but rather talk
alone.

Quote: “but if I were looking at where the real opportunity to reach the majority of the
world is, it’s not going to be in the PC in the home” (Mancini, 2008)

Learning Expectation:

I am expected to learn the true essence of online selling through knowing the
side of Ebay, a successful online retailing web site due I am eager to learn new ideas in
marketing and selling as I use the present technology.

Review:

Ebay, a big online selling website established by the team of Max Macini with the
help of Paypal and Skype, allows the market for a great web experience. This great web
experience has been described as an interactive one in a sense that it implies that
“Markets are conversation”. You can experience online selling with a little twist like
imposing the social networking interaction and using the current technology to allow this
interaction happen. It enables the market to create new ways or things in selling and
other social networking purposes in which it establishes the concept of good web
experience.

Ebay has a feature that addict online shoppers want, the presence of a specific
product all the time. It allows them to compare, pick or even buy online wherever they
are in the world. The concept only defends the great web experience that Bradley Jones
instigates on this chapter. Ebay allows his users to utilize their budgets through
comparing their picked products to other ones were freedom in buying is applied, it
lessens the hassle in looking for products and most of all, the ability to bid wherein the
buyer can get a larger amount of money as h/she sells the product.

Ebay or web 2.0 is using the ability or attribute for an online retail store the
openness to its buyers or users. It allows them to create things much more valued than
before in a sense that a seller can earn money whether it is a non-profit or profitable
product as they sell it to the web. It pushes the traditional way of selling into innovative
and more interactive one. Due to its innovative and interactive attribute, Max Macini and
his team allows the impossible to be possible that selling will now be done online but,
with security measures implied in order to protect its customers.

Ebay allows bigger or smaller companies to control their service. They can count
or monitor the amount of products will be released due to it is order basis and small time
sellers will control the transaction through they perform it into bidding.

What I have learned:

Based from this chapter, Ebay or online retailing allows us to experience the mix
of retailing and technology, strategies in selling or marketing products and the ability of
the sellers and buyers to interact in way it is hi-tech in nature. Experiencing the mix will
knock our heads that time passes by with the ideas that things also innovates such I
you want to sell a car, sell it now because the car is 1 year older than the present year
and the value is depreciating. Bidding is an example of selling strategy wherein the
price will be determined on the race of the buyers in buying it and customers will be
familiar to the new fashion of selling things, Ebay…..

Quote: “Going back into the 1990s, I believe that there really were Web 2.0 properties;
it’s just that nobody knew to call them that. In fact, they were mocked.”—Alan Meckler

Learning Expectation:

My learning expectation from this chapter is to know about the internet on Allan
Meckler’s perspective. Will the Internet help the fast growth of business and personal
needs which continues to grow in time? What are the things that the internet might help
us…?

Review:

The Web 2.0 is a place or tool for convenience. The scarcity of information is
minimized on its lowest level because anyone in the world can share or post such
information and it serves as an entertainment ground for those people who seek for
fun. It is also being used by the companies in performing work related activities such
as online meeting, placing product or service advertisements and other things that
might be done on the internet. Due to its convenient and reliability, it turns the tide, a
tide in which it is a slow and low in demand technology, it becomes fast and high on
demand technology. The feature of the web will allow for it users to experience a new
level of internet wherein a much interactive internet will provide their needs. In order to
attain this feature, it takes a lot of time for our experts to integrate technology, software
and speed in a one powerhouse.

The powerhouse is present but, it will now profit alone. The innovation and
guidance by an experts or ordinaries people will make it a profitable and reliable one. If
no one uses the internet, will it flow? Will the web survive on the test of time? Who will
establish protection if no one uses it? Will the companies advertise on it? These are
the questions that might come up if the ones who establish it are gone.

Any web that implements a transaction process after a selling and buying, it is
good has the extension or support from an E-commerce system. This will allow the
transaction reliable and secured because of certain security measures being followed.
For example, the use EON card by the Unionbank enables the customer to perform
transaction on an internet whether the E-commerce system is on Paypal or Asiapay. It
will protect the rights of a consumer form identity theft wherein it will cause a big
problem for credit or debit card users. If the E-Commerce is widely accepted now, it will

be embraced by its future users because of greater risks will immerge as new bunch of
identity thieves will arise.

Because of fast expansion of E-commerce, it might erase the impromptu

shopping with a one sitting online shopping. The customers will only browse the net
because I have mentioned earlier that information has a low probability on being
scarce due to its many contributors. The use of cellular phones in internet browsing will
be stronger due to telecommunication companies takes the opportunity in bringing their
internet services to their customer’s mobile phones.

What I have learned:

As I’ve read the chapter, Max Macini and Allan Meckler has the same
perspective about the internet, it provides the needs for each of its users. It limits the
scarcity level, integrates the technology, software and speed into one powerhouse and
provides satisfaction.

“Web 2.0 brought the learning curve down
to a really low level so you didn’t need to be a computer engineer
to be able to run your own blog site.”
—Eric Engleman, general manager, Bloglines

Learning Expectation:

My learning expectation is to know the point of view of Eric Engleman about

BLOGLINES. Is true that Web 2.0 will lessen the learning curve of those who will use it
in constructing a web site? I’ interested in knowing the different uses of blogs..

Review:

Web 2.0 is a different one than Web 2.0 2005 base from this chapter. It offers
new features and surprises that even a high schools student might create a blog site in
just 20 minutes if he or she master the software. It is easier than the previous one due
to more explanation and guidelines are present that will help the users in using the
web. So, the difficulty in studying of a certain software may be lessen into half due to
resources like Blogs for that certain study might be available, source codes are already
downloadable for free and other tutorials form the experts with a certain prices
attached.

BLOGS can be used as a tool in advertising products, services, and trips and
other marketing related activities. Like the Google Adsense of Google wherein you will
simply copy the Ad codes and paste it on your site where you want to come out. In
every click of the ads will be paid by the companies advertise on your site.
Advertisements on website is cheaper than placing ads on TV’s where you will pay a
30 second play on your ad, a billboard that expands 2 blocks of lot that might threatens
your budget in placing the ads and the people who live there.

The web becomes more secured and efficient in a way that you can perform
your daily transactions with the help of E-Commerce system at the same time; it
secures the identity of the buyer as well as the seller. Although this concept is still
weak due to customers prefer to see and criticized the product before they will buy it.

Majority of the customers buy through cash, but those who uses credit cards or debit
cards, it is not 100% safe. There are possibilities that their cards might be cloned and
used in buying purposes of the thieves. So, the companies that are encouraging the
market to uses the E-commerce system are being supported by the feature of intense
security on every transaction occurred.

New software and updates immerge but still average person doesn’t know
how to operate the system, only the experts and aficionados know the system. So,
constant interaction with the users must be done in order to educate them in using the
product. it may be in a form of bazaars and conventions or tutorial for only to help them
understand the whole functionality of the system or product. if the companies does not
do the tutorials and etc, they are the ones who will suffer the consequences because
no one will buy and use their products…..

What I have learned:

I’ve learned that the new Web 2.0 allows its user to become creative, innovative
and passionate on creating things because it is easier to manipulate and create due to
new resources and guideline that are present. Because the web is now flexible and
open source is being done already, participation of the market in the development of
software is being done already. So, the IT experts know that participation of the market
is in creating IT infrastructures; they implement security features in protecting and
maintaining the integrity of their web sites.

“I think the freedom that is enabled by the Internet
and what people are doing with it
today is just really profound.”
—Gina Bianchini

Learning Expectation:

My learning expectation is to know the point of view of Gina Bianchini about

Ning, the effects of social networking Medias on the society. What are possible
contributions it may give to the personal behavior and perception of each individual.
What are the possible effects to the whole society? Will the social networking Medias
connect or destroys the true meaning of conversation.

Review:

The social networking becomes a big hit in these days. Everyone is participating
on every social networking websites. For example, I am a member of facebook,
multiply, friendster, youtube and other known social networking websites. On these
interactive medias, I can do chatting, play games, send gifts or even watch videos.
Actually, all of us are now hooked on these interactive Medias. As the expansion and
boost increases, centralization gradually looses its power from these social networking
Medias. It makes users more updated, interactive and informed on the events
happening in the industry. Because of massive participants on these social networking
Medias, Selling companies penetrates is slowly penetrating it. Ads are now seen on
every header or footer of a web page, a pop-up box that comes out every time you had
clicked an ad or it appears automatically without notice.

As more people join or register on different networking web sites, sales team for
every company grabs the opportunity in attracting more and more clients because they
believe that there is the possibility of revenue from it. For example, Yahoo itself
advertises products such as cars, houses, gifts and other stuffs that are seasonal or
non-seasonal. Advertisement is present where the presence of the market is there. That
is why Google Adsense is been made. I think?

I believe that each one of us breaks or destroys the firewall or the wall that
separates us from the industry itself. Why does Yahoo messenger is been created?

Why does Friendster becomes popular in mid 2000? All of these social networking
Medias breaks that wall and defends the statement that “Markets are conversations”.
That’s right Markets are Conversation and that is why programming teams develop
these social networking Medias, to use the power of conversation. Conversation
strengthens the bond between each person here on earth. It makes us more agile in
making things more reliable, informative, and effective in a fast manner that everyone
on earth can read your BLOGS after you post it in your site.

What I have learned:

The concept of Ning by Gina Bianchini is to explain and elaborate to us that

engaging on social networking Medias such as Facebook, Wordpress, Twitter, Ning and
etc have benefits that can be enjoyed by us, Web users. Certain companies uses the
social networking media on their advertising operations because they believe that it will
lessen the cost and difficulty on advertising their products. They will garner from web
advertisements and endorse themselves as a company that are now embracing the new
technology.

Technorati.

Review:

Web 2.0 lets people recognize each other, build communities, and create
connections where they couldn’t before. It’s public social discourse that lets people
connect, that gives an opportunity to have an open sharing of ideas. Anybody can pick
up a cell phone or a digital camera and shoot some photos or video and upload it
instantly, and millions of people have the opportunity to see it. Web 2.0 allows creativity
and innovation on each one of us like www.flickr.com allows its users to upload large
amount of pictures which it can be viewed by hundreds of times. Youtube’s good image
in uploading video lets its users to view and upload their favorite videos or even their
own videos. So, creativity is triggered as you create videos that can be uploaded on
www.youtube.com and innovation in uploading pictures that can be view by many
people.

People can now communicate with a mass audience, most of whom they’ll never
encounter, and not know who saw their stuff. Instead of getting your morning paper with
just one editorial view, all of a sudden you have hundreds—if not thousands—of views
about and reactions from others about these things. www.wordpress.com can be used
as a BLOGGING site where many of its users are experienced or addict Bloggers. You
can learn new things from them due to they share their expertise and other valid
experiences that might motivates us in creating or experiencing the use of social
networking Medias.

Any social networking websites allows us to be more transparent in a way that it

will not affect our privacy. We can share experiences, facts which are present on the
society today, events that are interesting and other relevant ideas that might be reason

on forming a debate. Debates are good, it makes the conversation more interactive and
interesting due it will allow us stand on our points against our debate opponents.
Standing up fro a point will develop the communication skills of each individual.
Technorati strongly recommends that people don’t just cherrypick the “best” posts. It’s
really good to have some opposing points of view.

The masses can now be part of every company’s plans. We can now suggest
and give feedbacks that are valuable to their operations. It will help them to do the
appropriate approach to us that might knock the top management heads in
implementing new guidelines and any other decisions.

What I have learned:

The impact of web 2.0 to the society is; it allows the mass audience to to
communicate with wach other through the use of these socila networking Medias.

Review:

Users are communicating with the content publishers, and the users are part of
the content publishing. That, in general, is Web2.0. Web 2.0 is also a combination of the
wisdom of the crowd and the Read/Write Web. As the market is now part of the
everything such as decision plans, strategic plans, reports, events and any other
possible outcome that can be joined by us, is now widely accepted by them. It will help
them in formulating things that are in need of our support or participation in which in
return, it will help them boost their status. Wikis are going to die or merge with online
word processors.
Public Wikis that are now used by people that needs to store amount of data such as
www.pbwiki.com, will finally come to a halt due to new immerging social networking
Medias that doesn’t need wikis any more. It will fade out due to users prefers that are
interactive and interesting rather than just posting and saving it on their respective wikis.
Real-time collaboration and real-time communication is what is enabling the web-based
word processors.

Enterprises have some complex work flows, and online applications are not really
ready to fit into to the complex work flows in enterprises. Although the use of these
social networking Medias starts to rises for some time, companies are not ready to
embrace and accept these media due to they are still confused. They are still reviewing
some measures if they will go or not for the new trends of communication. For example,
Security is not something that you address in a day. It’s a common thing that has to be

addressed regularly. It takes time to implement or even test first if it will still hold the
tight security of their operations.

Due to the fast pacing of Information Technology, Software is now in demand

and good to have profit. It will be the next car of a certain car manufacturing company or
rather say, it will be the new model for the next generation, it will provide the needs of
each individual in terms of operational or entertainment purposes. As software arises, it
is the same with the web. What if you mix the two in demand media into a one meal? It
will be a great one because if you integrate the tracking system for a product on a web,
it will allow an efficient monitoring for their clients. If all your data and all applications
you need are online, there is noreason to depend on a particular system. Mobility will
eventually follow.

What I have learned:

I’ve learned from the article that Enterprises have some complex work flows, and
online applications are not really ready to fit into to the complex work flows in
enterprises. Although the use of these social networking Medias starts to rises for some
time, companies are not ready to embrace and accept these media due to they are still
confused.

Read/WriteWeb & Web 2.0 Workgroup

Review:

Web 2.0 has come to be a marketing term. In a nutshell Web 2.0 is defines the
era of the Web we are in right now, just like dotcom was used to describe the last era.
Whereas in the last era of the Web, professionals published and people visited a site to
read it, with the current era anyone can contribute and write content. According to
historical accounts, internet was only used for the U.S military. It s in black and white
color, no images, videos, ads that are attached on each web site, plain text in white
color. But, as the time passes, the internet develops. It displays ads, pictures and
videos and any other materials but due to hackers and programmers, it became a place
where freedom in communicating is present. Social networking immerges and online
chatting has been created. Everyone can now contribute and suggest. If they are not
satisfied, they can simply post a comment or even develop the site. But, because
everyone can contribute content, it is hard to find the best content. There are now many
possible suggestions or ideas that can change or develop the web.

We are seeing a lot of activity in search at the moment. In the next few months
we will see more applications having offline functionality. We’ll see a lot more action on
the mobile front in the next few years. As everyone can now contribute, more ideas that
are made as software or sites, it will seek for new expansions like Alexander the Great.
As Alexander the Great conquers the terrain of the all parts of Middle East, Greece, and
Russia, he plans to conquer India. So, internet providers extend their reach to their
clients’ mobile phones where in they can brows the net, listen to news and music or play

games. So, maybe in the near future, we’ll see more Microsoft software delivered as a
service over the Web. This will happen to a lot of other types of software as well.

Premium content is kind of a lost art on the Web due to the fast innovation of the
net and it becomes an intelligent place where people becomes artists and Gurus on
their own respective fields as the use the net as their playground. The big dream is that
the Web becomes more intelligent. Intelligent in way that conversation becomes
smarter, efficient and fast due to social networking Medias.

What I have learned:

I’ve learned that, there is continues upgrades and new features will immerge due
to fast and sydictated relationship of the market. We are seeing a lot of activity in search
at the moment. In the next few months we will see more applications having offline
functionality. New technology will be used as a tool in expanding the fever of Web 2.0.

My learning expectation is to know the point of view of TJ Kang about ThinkFree

Review:

As TJ Kang is also aware of what is happening with Web 2.0. He had established
a concept that “Software as a Service,” but back then it was called ASP (Application
Service Providers). On my own perspective, software serves as services provided by
the companies to its customers. It eases the hassle in performing activities on school
and office. Although many features are imbedded on a software, still security is the
primary concern of our customer so, there are two main issues or barriers that keep
people from moving from the desktop to the Web: security and the offline issue. Security
is more an issue with enterprise customers. Security is being studied by the
management before they shift their system into a well secured because they are
assuring themselves that it is safe and the transition process is easy. The best example
of this concept is the boost of E-commerce system. E-commerce is different on a bank
transaction, it is much safe due it will keep the reference number and personal identities
secured where as in some banking transactions, and there are the possibilities of
identity theft.

People do most of their work inside the browser, except when they have to use their
office software that they run on their desktop. You, therefore, need to provide a way to
cache data and the application so that they can continue use when not connected. In
this case, the purpose of intranet will came up. It is like a local area network wherein the
employees can still operate and view their records although the internet is down. So,
reliability is the key factor in proper execution of processes. Employees are much
familiar on software they used their entire work for example, Microsoft Office has been
so dominant for so many years, that most people don’t even remember there were other
office productivity solutions. We’ll see some real changes taking place in an area of the
market that had been stagnant for the last 15 years (online applications). So, transition

to software will take time and hardships but, because there is an Transition business
plan, it will guide the whole transition process. But, when the computing platform itself
changes, then people are forced to change the way they work. So, it will still take time
for them to learn the new software implemented.

What I have learned:

I’ve learned that, there is continues upgrades and new features will immerge due

LinkedIn

Review:

LinkedIn is likely one of the most referenced Web 2.0 sites due to its ability to
connect people together and provide social interactions among them. Actually, I am
registered in LinkedIn.com where I can post my resume and can be recommended by
my friends or close- relatives. It is a good tool in exploiting information that might help
me in looking for jobs.

Web 2.0 re-establishes the relationships we have in the offline world, puts them
in the online world, and enables that group consumption to again happen. Web 2.0 and
social networking is not a fad. We are familiar in creating resume that are enclosed on
an enveloped but the has change that concept, we can now send resume or application
forms through online in which it can be viewed by recruiting or the Human Resource
Department of a certain company. It is now available and open to other people in which
they can also recommend your expertise to their colleagues that are looking for your
stature. It matters hugely to people that they do well and that they are seen as doing
well in their chosen pursuit. LinkedIn’s unique take on Web 2.0 and unique take on
social networking is such that those relationships
that are formed are a reflection of you, and you need those relationships for life.
LinkedIn is responsible to release such credentials online where it represents your
expertise and yourself in a social networking Media. It also establishes human relation

with other people due to your are linked in to them. So, Patrick Crane considers Web
2.0 a new technology that solves an age-old problem. The age-old problem is
maintaining and keeping alive human relationships that matter to you.

As you become of the LinkedIn community, you become transparent and

reachable to other wherein they can sent feedbacks and other good stuffs that might
convinced a Human Resource representative to hire you or not. It is like an
advertisement you are promoting but in this scenario, you are already promoting the
only product you have, yourself.

Learning Expectation:

Review:

Web 2.0 can be broken down into a number of different quadrants in terms of
functionality and user expectations: user-generated content, social networking, a search
and syndication of contents, and the rich user interface, which really exploded onto the
scene with the adoption of AJAX technology, Flash, and Microsoft Silverlight. Due to
Web 2.0 flexibility, it is available for user-generated contents such as email, chats and
etc. it is also available for social networking wherein a user can upload a video through
Youtube, post BLOGS though Wordpress and multily. Search engines are well used for
browsing purposes like Yahoo and Google, torrents for downloads such as videos and
music and AJAX that are used in constructing web page, Adobe Flash or Macromedia
Flash for viewing videos ads, promotions and games such as miniclip.com. It provides
whatever the user wants regarding it is for entertainment and personal purposes.

There are a lot of ideas around Web 2.0 that are more networks oriented,
human-oriented, rather than just pointing at a specific piece of technology. For example,
in downloading stuffs like games, mp3’s or videos, you will gonna need a downloading
software such as Azureus in which it will download the needed file as a torrent file.
BLOG sites are also human oriented networking wherein BLOGGERS can post their
BLOGS, pictures or videos on the site. The Web 2.0 technology was the best attempt at
coming up with a nice buzzword for a whole lot of new technology and innovative ways
that people are using the Internet.

When you look at the numbers, the millions and millions of users that are using
some of these services seem like a lot. If you look at the grand scale of things, there is
still a lot of untapped potential in the world. Bigger coverage of social networking will

trigger the need for a bigger database to store information about a specific person
knowing that there still others using these social networking Medias.

Learning Expectation:

My learning expectation is to know the point of view of Biz Stone about Twitter.

Review:

I use Twitter like Plurk, If you are using Twitter, you will simply post a feeling or
expression and let your friends respond to it. It is like a post it paper, that can be posted
on a refrigerator or desk that may give you notes about tasks that must be done
immediately. In using Twitter, around 90 percent of the people do not check the privacy
box on Twitter. They want their posts public. That’s something that is not entirely unique
to Twitter; it’s something that’s happening in blogging, MySpace, Facebook, etc. People
are increasingly okay with others knowing what they’re up to and hearing what they’re
saying. There seems to be a lot of value in keeping that openness. Because now that
people are transparent to the society it is okay for them to let others read their posts.
They are happy if someone responds to their post rather than no one react on it.

Web 2.0 is this big, growing realization that the Web is increasingly a social
environment and that people are using it to communicate with one another, like they’ve
always done—but now in such an open way. Social networking is now well accecpted
by the society as a form of communication tool in expressing themselves to others.
They can do whatever they want knowing that new features are added such as
Emoticons can be sent to friends, send cards or items that are not true like in facebook
and etc. in this manner, it gives a boost excitement in using the social networking
Medias. Ideas and opinions can be expressed out though just Plurking on Plurk, twitting
someone through twitter and sending cards.

It is just that Web 2.0 is not a 2.0 version rather than it is a Web. A web where
conversation starts, ideas are culminated into a realistic or fantasy one, where online
creation starts that made Twitter a popular one in expressing one’s mind regardless its
confidentiality.

Learning Expectation:

Meebo.

Review:

Meebo has seen phenomenal growth in a short period of time. While relatively
new, by having over six million unique visitors monthly, it has taught its founders key
lessons. The role of Meebo on the social networking grew fast due it is the substitute for
Yahoo Messenger in case of no install software on a particular desktop. It has the same
features as the Yahoo Messenger.

According to Seth Sternberg: Advertising on the Web is now very, very efficient—
an efficient, liquid market. Advertising on web lessens the cost of advertisement and it
become more available to users in viewing and reviewing a certain ad posted on a web.
What does liquidity means on accounting? Liquidity is the flow of cash or money in the
market. So what does it implies on Web Advertising? Simple, it generates larger
revenue for site owners once they allow companies to advertise on their sites. So in
short, money keeps coming as long as the ads are present in site. Ads or promotions
makes the company survive because if no one knows your product or services offered,
no on will buy or avail. So, learning the web is a must because flows and updates are
always present that can be accessed any time and any where you want.

According again to Seth Sternberg, if you don’t do Web 2.0, then you’ll lose
market share and you’ll wish you did. Loosing market share is a nightmare for each
company. Companies will invest more money in order to acquire their aimed market
place, to be a top provider for the society. Through this investment, more services are
gonna show up as long as companies are eager to suitor their respective markets but,
efficient and good quality services must be provided to the society in order to avoid
conflicts between them.

My learning expectation is to know the point of view of Joshua Schachter about

del.icio.us.

Review:

Instead of spending millions of dollars on technology, people are able to build a

low-end PHP/Linux sort of environment for building pretty much anything. As such, you
are able to try out a lot of ideas, many more than previously, because there are lower
transaction costs for trying things out. It true that it is much expensive on investing on a
certain technology but, there are still other ways that might help the company in doing
their operations. For example, of building a new web site for Blogging purposes or a
Shopping cart, I believe that it is better to simple download a plugin from Wordpress.org
the Shopping cart Plugin and install it on the company’s domain. Simply attached a
contact form and linked it on an E-commerce system then presto, the company has
already a working Shopping cart.

The Web or Web 2.0 is strong, popular and embraced by the market. Ideas might
come up due to people are willing to contribute on the improvement of the web. They
are will to dedicate their time because they believe that they are also gonna benefit from
it because Web 2.0 is less the name of a specific phenomenon, and more of a label we
put on particular observations. People don’t agree on terms, methodology, technology,
parts, or components, and there are radically different ways that people implement and
even think about problems. Right now it is deep, magical voodoo. As the web is being
used by the society, they are more interested in describing the web as place where
stability is not constant, changes can occur. So, they perform some experimentation like
implementing tight securities, updates that strengthens firewalls and implements anti-
spam security. Creation and experimentation is being applied on the construction and

constant developing of the internet. If the development stops, think the possible threats
that might come up…..

—Ranjith Kumaran

Learning Expectation:

My learning expectation is to know the point of view of Ranjith Kumaran about

YouSendIt

Review:

I’ve already used YouSendit where you can send files to anyone which is the
same with the mail in yahoo mail or gmail. If you are not a member of YouSendit, you
are only limited at least 10 MB size of the file but if you want to upgrade into 100 MB
size, you’ll need to upgrade from premium to professional with a certain amount.

According to Ranjith Kumaran that the ability of the Web to connect people and
enable collaboration is enabled through allowing the re-syndication of data and services
by anyone. It is true that the collaboration of people will be possible if there is the re-
syndication of data. What does re-syndication means? Re-syndication means that to
reorganize the data that are present. So in order connect each person in the web,
applying an organized will smoothens the flow of data transition. At a high level, Web
2.0 is about enabling interesting conversations and collaboration. The more people you
can service, the more value they get out of it. It is very important to be able to push
some of these applications back out of the browser and onto the desktop, but make it as
accessible and easy to use and connected as possible. Certain software which is ready
to be downloaded anytime is good way of open sourcing with the approval of the main
provider but, it will be great if the software is compatible with upgrades or update so that
it is easy for the user to use the program.

There’s kind of a balance between how you want to enable your team to be
productive and at the same time, the onus is still on vendors to make sure that we live

up to the promises that we make on security and usability and availability. Additionally,
by outsourcing a lot of the services through companies like ours, people are becoming
more productive.

Chapter 1 – Organizing for Improvement

1.1 COMPANY BACKGROUND

1.1.1 Company Overview

Official Name: Greenwich SM Valenzuela Branch

Address: G/F SM Super Center, Karuhatan Valenzuela

Headquarters: Pasig City, Philippines

Type: Subsidiary of Jollibee Foods Corporation

Line of Business of the Company: Restaurants

Logo:

1.1.2 History

Greenwich Pizza is one true Filipino pizza chain – a small entrepreneurship that
made an extraordinary leap to the big league. What started out as a small over-
the-counter pizza store in the Greenhills Commercial Center in 1971, is now the
Philippines’ biggest pizza chain.

The initial steady growth of its business is credited to the entrepreneurial spirit of
Mrs. Cresida Tueres. By 1994, her store counter grew to 50 branches. It was
then that fast food giant Jollibee Foods Corporation saw the great potential in
venturing into the growing market of pizza and decisively obtained a deal,

acquiring 80% of Greenwich shareholding. The new company became known as
Greenwich Pizza Corporation and went through exciting rapid developments with
the mobilization of experienced marketing and operations teams.

Successive innovations happened for the company immediately after the

acquisition. In September 8, 1994, Greenwich opened its first store at Ever
Gotesco Commonwealth Shopping Mall, sporting the new and vibrant image of
Greenwich. New packaging designs were introduced in June 1995 and 7 different
pizza flavors were launched in July of the same year. The Greenwich Special
Pizza, with 7 toppings, became the classic favorite of customers.

In October 1995, the Greenwich marketing campaign went into full swing. With
the young and the young-at-heart as the target market, a tri-media campaign was
launched to reveal Greenwich’s new image. By year-end, Greenwich had more
than doubled the previous year’s sales from Php100 million to Php200 million
with a base of only 53 stores.

The ensuing years saw a remarkable boom in Greenwich’s operations and

revenues. In 1996, launching local actor and personality Rico Yan as the image
model proved to be a successful campaign strategy. By the end of that year, the
number of stores had grown to 80 and sales rose to nearly Php500 million.

In September 1997, Greenwich opened its 100th store in Fairview Regalado –

that’s twice the number of outlets in just three years! By year-end, 20 more stores
were added and sales doubled to Php1 billion.

To support the expected growth in 1999, Greenwich acquired new pizza

equipment in late 1998 and complemented its state-of-the-art pizza crust
production line in the Pasig commissary. This automated system produces
consistently high quality pizza crust to ensure customer satisfaction and meet
operational efficiencies.

In August 1999, Greenwich made a significant improvement by loading all pizza

flavors with more toppings of choice meat and vegetables without increasing its
Page 95 of 127
selling price. Within the same year, new appetizing Pasta Supreme dishes were
launched: So Meaty Spaghetti, Lasagna Supreme, and Baked Chicken Macaroni.

Today, Greenwich is present from as far north as Tuguegarao to General Santos

City down south. With over 240 stores and sales of more than 3 billion as of end
of 2005, Greenwich continues to write business history by consistently improving
its product offering and quality through research and development, as well as
continuous expansion of its stores nationwide.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The critical business process of Greenwich Pizza Corporation is their manual

customer relations management system. They get the feedbacks of their customers
manually. They do it every hour but only up to 3 pm because the scholars need to
tabulate or summarize the whole survey done by the customers and produce one
tabulated report and that was needed by the branch’s manager before their working-
hours end and they are asked to do it everyday. The whole process was done in a slow
manner and very tedious. The question is, what about the feedbacks of the customers
beyond that time? What if the service let us say, differ before 3 pm and after 3 pm? How
would they know? And also the answered questionnaires were handled by the cashier/s
up until the scholars get it from them around 3 pm and that means that those answered
questionnaires are at high-risk of getting lost and a lost of just one is also like a waste of
information resources. The following are the specific problems that have been
occurring:

• Feedbacks beyond 3 pm are not honored.

It is already a routine everyday for Greenwich’s scholars to get the

surveys from the cashier station every 3 pm because they have to tally it and
then summarize the tallied information and come up with a report regarding that.
The group’s main concern is what about the feedbacks after that said time? What
if the service provided after and before 3 pm differs maybe because their
employees may be tired already by 6 pm let us say? What if the people who
works during the mornings performs differently from the ones working on the
night shift? Customers won’t know that the service is great during the mornings
but not during the evenings so once they get this bad impression about the
company’s food or service then that could be a big blow for Greenwich.

• Answered questionnaires are at high risk of getting lost.

There are many people involved in handling the surveys if it could only be
done at least by one person. Cashiers would give the surveys upon ordering then
it would be the service crew’s responsibility to ensure that their customers
answered it and at the same time safely return the answered surveys back to the
cashier station. At around 3 pm the scholars would get it from the cashiers. The
group observed especially during peak hours the service crews do a lot of stuff
and that they sometimes forget to encourage or at least get the feedbacks back
to the cashier station and that means waste of resource, paper, and information
and if that would happen a lot (and if they allow that to happen most of the time)
then what is now the use of doing the activity in the first place? Just to get 2 or 3
people’s feedback? That would be a poor basis to begin with.

• Arriving at an aggregate report based on the survey results eats a lot of time than
needed.

After the scholars received the surveys then they would be tabulating the
survey and come up with a report based on that. After, they will present it to their
branch’s manager and wait for his comment, feedback, or opinion then they
would have to produce another report based on their manager’s thoughts and
suggestion then they would keep it in their database and would e-mail all the
reports gathered to their head office every end of the month. After that, they
would print the files to be kept in a special storage. The group’s main concern
about this is that the scholars are trained by Greenwich themselves to be the
next managers of the store. If they would just keep on doing these things over
and over again instead of doing some other things (like engaging more with their
customers, giving an extra hand to other employees, etc), then how would they
be more productive and more competent? The group wants them to be more
exposed in relating to their customers and with the activities in the front end and
back end of the store and not just spend a lot of time in doing this activities if in
fact these activities can already be made automatically. For the group, it’s okay if
they continue doing these activities if there is really no means for them to make

things much faster but with our technology today it made possible that the reports
could be generated in a matter of minutes or seconds.

• Their current system’s slow and ineffective processes affect decision making of the
company regarding quality control.

One of the main reasons why the company does this survey is to ensure
that they are in line with their customer’s expectations and to know whether they
are providing the best quality service and products for them. Quality control
should be well regulated around their stores and this would be done if they would
change their current system.

1.3 OBJECTIVES OF THE SYSTEM

The goal of the study is to optimize the time spent on getting the feedbacks of
their customers regarding their products, environment, and services. This also aims to
reduce the risk of loosing a questionnaire that has been answered therefore reduces the
probability of wasting information resources, minimizes the time spent on tabulating the
survey results (as it is supposed to be), and to make their whole CRM process quicker
to make efficient decisions for quality control. This could be done by changing
Greenwich’s current CRM system by automating it.

• Improved Resource Control

The proposed system ensures that the results and reports are safely kept on a
database by limiting the access and exposure of the results to only 2-3 people. Now they
have a much more grip of these resources and could be retrieved in a timely and orderly
manner.

• To Reduce Human Errors In Tallying Surveys

Reduce human errors by providing firm foundation or metrics of the system that
assures security of the feedbacks or answers (not hackable or be manipulated) of the
customers and efficiency in processing the results and in coming up with an accurate
aggregate report.
• Information Processing Efficiency and Increase Speed Of Reports

To increase the speed in tallying the survey results and coming up with a
tabulated report which are manually done by changing their current system through
automating it, providing a much more efficient and faster accumulation and tallying of
results and generating a much reliable tabulated report.

• To Increase Speed Of CRM Activities And Increased Accuracy In Clerical Operations

To increase the speed in coming up with a report based on the tabulated report
therefore affecting the speed of time it needs to be submitted to the branch manager for
final assessment and the time it’ll be submitted back to them up to the point where they
need to submit the final reports to the main office and the time spent in accumulating,
tallying, and tabulating the survey results by changing their current system, which is
manual, and automating it providing a much more reliable and faster results.

• Improvement Of Management Planning And Control

The proposed system will ensure improvement in management planning and

control because it brings with it the benefits and the promise of a much faster and
efficient generation of results needed for analysis, assessment, and for decision-making.
Now, the heads of the store could be rest assured that they are assessing and analyzing
the accurate results, free from the typical human errors such as miscalculation of the
tallied reports and the likes.

• Faster Decision-Making

Faster decision-making by improving and speeding the tallying and tabulating of

the survey results therefore scholars can now present to the branch manager the report
in a much earlier time. The branch manager could also react to it much faster therefore
enabling the scholars to submit final report to the main office much earlier (than doing
the monthly basis). The main office now could also react to the survey result much
faster.

• To Improve Asset Utilization

The proposed system will do the works done tediously by the scholars. Now,
these scholars can have more time relating and exposing themselves in the works in the
front end and back end of the store enabling them to be more aware of the things
happening inside. Those experiences will help them grow, think, and react as future
managers of the store.

1.4 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

One of the significance of this study is to improve the performance of the
company by changing their current CRM system and automating it. This would reduce
the time spent on tabulating the survey results, more efficiently and quicker than with
what they have now. With their current system, they have to gather all the results of the
survey as well as the manager’s report and email it every end of the month but with the
propose system they could send the manager’s report everyday and the main office can
access the database of the branch so there is no need to email the result to them. Now,
customers who wish to participate in the survey, either customers who eat in the
mornings or those of the evenings or anytime of the day, can do it so because with their
current system only people who eats or buys in their establishment before 3 pm can
participate in the activity so only the feedbacks of what kind of service, food,
environment they have during mornings or before 3 pm can be assessed. How about

after 3 pm’s service, environment, food? How would they know if the same service,
cleanliness, and food were offered to its customer all throughout the day? Now,
customers who eat anytime of the day can actively participate because their feedbacks
matter A LOT.
Greenwich now can train and expose their scholars to the work they are
supposed to manage and not just the tabulating part. They would have more people to
attend to their customers needs because the scholars don’t have to do the tabulating
part anymore, instead the automated system would do it for them. Greenwich can now
have faster and more efficient report as a basis for their monthly assessment for each of
their branches nationwide.
Customers wouldn’t find the whole activity boring. The system proposed would
make sure that the survey activity would be fun, very interactive, relating, and simple to
do. Now, customers who wish to be heard by the management can actively participate
in the activity. Because of this, they could expect a much improvement on the areas
they want improvement in the first place. Now, there is this higher possibility and
assurance that their comments and suggestions be heard.
For the group, this study may be used as a reference or as a solution to purge
common problem/s in the future.

1.5 SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS

The boundary of our study is limited only to the Customer Relations Management
of the Valenzuela branch. We only focus on the manual survey process of the store
which includes the time when the cashier/s give questionnaires to customers, the time
when service crews gets the answered questionnaires and return it back to the cashier
station, the time when the scholars would get it from the cashiers then tabulates the
survey results daily, the time the scholars send a hardcopy of the tabulated report to the
branch’s manager (everyday) up to the time when they’d e-mail it to the main office
(every end of the monnth.

Chapter 2 – System Analysis
2.1 Use Case Diagram of Greenwich’s Current CRM System

2.1.1 Primary Actors

a.) Customer - People who buys and eats in the establishment and participates
in the activity (survey to get their feedbacks about Greenwich’s food,
services, and such to ensure quality of the said elements).
b.) Cashier/s - A person who handles the money transactions of the
establishment. He/she is also the one who gives questionnaires to its
customers, upon ordering. She/ he gives out questionnaires to a sample of
customers every one hour.
c.) Scholars - People who are literally scholars of the store. The company pays
for their tuition fees, in some selected universities, to take up business
administration. They educate and train them to be the next managers of one
of Greenwich's Stores. Scholars get the answered questionnaires everyday
around 3 pm from the cashier/s then tabulates it in Microsoft Word and e-
mails it to the main office every end of the month.
d.) Service Crew - Employees who serve the ordered food, clean the tables,
surroundings, and such.
e.) Branch Manager - Every branch has its own managers. Branch managers are
the ones responsible for the assessment of the surveys. Managers, everyday,
assess and examines the feedbacks of the people and when she/he have
read bad comments, she/he quickly or as soon as possible contacts their
customers to clarify things.
f.) Main Office - A certain department from the main office handles the tabulated
report from the branch's office. They make final assessment of the situation
and decides what to do next to improve more their products and services.

2.1.2 Use Cases

a.) Order Food - People who wish to eat some of the great tasting food only
offered in Greenwich orders food, directly in the cashier station.
b.) Answer Questionnaire - Customers who were given by the cashier a
questionnaire are asked to answer questions related to customer satisfactory
about the store's service, products, environment, and etc. Not all customers
were given questionnaires, only a sample of the whole population of the
people who ate or bought something in the store were given.
c.) Give Questionnaire to Customers - Cashiers give out questionnaires to a
group of people every 1 hour therefore not all customers were given these
questionnaires.
d.) Handle Answered Questionnaires - Cashiers keep the answered
questionnaires and wait for the scholars to get it from them to tabulate it.
Usually, scholars get it from them around 3 pm.
e.) Tabulate Answers - Scholars summarize the feedbacks or answers given out
by their customers. They place it in a Microsoft Word document and save it in
a folder.
f.) Email Final Report - Every end of the month, the scholars send all the
tabulated files for the month in the main office via e-mail.
g.) Collect Questionnaires from Customers - Service crews monitor the survey
questionnaires. After each customers done eating and leaves the place,
they'd quickly get the papers and return it to the cashier station.
h.) Assess Report - The branch manager of the store handles all the tabulated
surveys. He/she monitors it daily to ensure their product's, service's and etc.
quality and also to respond and clarify quickly to the bad comments provided
by their customer/s.
i.) Make Final Assessment - The main office then makes the final call. They
assess the surveys and makes final decision of what to do next.

2.3 Activity Diagram of Greenwich’s Current CRM System

a.) Order Food - People who wish to eat some of the great tasting food only offered in
Greenwich orders food, directly in the cashier station. Their system is Pay-As-You-
Order unlike in Bario Fiesta where they have this buffet style.
b.) Answer Questionnaire - Customers who were given by the cashier a questionnaire
are asked to answer questions related to customer satisfactory about the store's
service, products, environment, and etc. Not all customers were given
questionnaires, only a sample of the whole population of the people who ate or

c.) Give Questionnaires to Customers - Cashiers give out questionnaires to a group of
people every 1 hour therefore not all customers were given these questionnaires.
d.) Receive Questionnaires from Service Crews - Cashiers keep the answered
questionnaires and wait for the scholars to get it from them to tabulate it. Usually,
scholars get it from them around 3 pm.
e.) Tabulate Answers - Scholars summarize the feedbacks or answers given out by their
customers. They place it in a Microsoft Word document and saves it in a folder.
f.) Email Tabulated Answers - Every end of the month, the scholars send all the
tabulated files for the month in the main office via e-mail.
g.) Get Questionnaires from Customers - Service crews monitor the survey
questionnaires. After each customers done eating and leaves the place, they'd
quickly get the papers and return it to the cashier station.
h.) Assess Report - The branch manager of the store handles all the tabulated surveys.
He/she monitors it daily to ensure their product's, service's and etc. quality and also
to respond and clarify quickly to the bad comments provided by their customer/s.
i.) Make Final Assessment - The main office then makes the final call. They assess the
surveys and makes final decision of what to do next.
j.) Give Back Questionnaires to Cashier/s- After the customers have left, service crews
would return answered questionnaires back to the cahier station for safekeeping.
k.) Pass Questionnaires to Scholars – At around 3 pm, the scholars would get the
answered surveys and would start tabulating those because by the end of the shift
they have to ready for an aggregate report which will be given to the branch’s
manager for assessment.

l.) Print Aggregate Report – The scholars must be ready by the end of their working
shifts a summarized report containing the frequently answered questions, feedbacks
or comments, and etc.
m.) Call Customer for Clarification - Managers, everyday, assess and examines the
feedbacks of the people and when she/he finds bad comments, she/he quickly or as
soon as possible contacts their customers to clarify things and to assure them that
they’d do anything to improve or mitigate their concerns.
n.) Continuously Do Quality Control- Even if there weren’t bad comments that the
customers provided, the management must still not stop from continuously improving
some areas in their business as well as quality control.
o.) E-Mail Final Report - Every end of the month, the scholars send all the aggregate
reports for the month in the main office via e-mail as well as the branch’s manager
report.
p.) Inform Scholars about Findings – Branch managers informs the scholars what
he/she has found out or learned about the survey’s results, suggestions fro
improvement, customers’ bad comment (if any) so the scholars could include this
branch manager’s report to those files that the scholars would be sending in the
main office via e-mail.

3.2 Use Case Diagram of the Proposed System

3.2.1 Primary Actors

Customer - People who buys and eats in the establishment and

participates in the activity (survey to get their feedbacks about their
food, services, and such to ensure quality of the said elements).
Branch Manager – Every branch has its own managers. Branch
managers are the one responsible for the assessment of the
surveys. Managers, everyday, assess and examines the feedbacks
of the people and when she/he finds bad comments, she/he quickly

or as soon as possible contacts their customers to clarify things and
to assure them that they’d do anything to improve or mitigate their
concerns.
Scholars – Who tracks the log-in and log-out database, who e-mails
the summarized report of the manager to the main office, who
helps in handling and maintaining the database/s (customer’s
details, log-in and out, and customers’ feedbacks), and who gives a
hardcopy of the report to the branch’s manager.
CRM Automated System – A system that is responsible for tracking
down the identities of the people who enter the site. The system
wouldn’t allow an account to enter the site more than once in a day
and beyond the branch’s working hours. It records, in a separate
database, the customers’ records and their feedbacks. It also
authenticates whether your username is legal and matched your
given password and also summarizes the survey activity.
Main Office - A certain department from the main office that
handles the survey results from the branch's office. They make final
assessment of the situation and decides what to do next to improve
more their products and services. They would also provide the
people who would maintain the databases and the system of the
branch.

3.2.2 Use Cases

Sign Up – A person must first sign up before she/he could

participate. The signing up process would be simple and is done
only once (not every time they wish to participate in another survey
at a different time and place). They will be asked to input their full
names, address, contact numbers, gender, birthday, username,
and password.

Log-In – Before a customer could participate in the activity, he/ she
is supposed to be logged in first so that the person’s identity who’ll
be answering the questions could be known by the management.
The time they gave logged in would be saved in a database.
Answers Questions – Customers would be asked to answer simple
questions. They would only pick out the answers provided for them
(more like a multiple choice questionnaire: good, better, best,
satisfactory, etc).
Log-Out – After answering the questions, they will be asked to log-
out and that ends the session. The time they have logged out would
be saved in a database.
Process Customer Answers – CRM Automated System would
record, in a database, the answers of the customers. The system
would assure that there would be no unanswered questions left.
Generate Summarized Report - Everyday, it will generate a report
about the answers or feedbacks of its customers. The aggregate
result would then be stored in a database and the scholars could
easily click print to print out a hardcopy of the report which will be
submitted to the branch’s manager for assessment. With the new
system, the scholars don’t have to spend hours just tabulating the
result, instead, the system does it for them and they don’t have to
email the results of the survey because the survey results would
then be stored in a database that could also be accessed by the
main office and now they only have to email the report of the
manager.
E-Mail Report - Every day, the scholars can now send the branch’s
manager report for that day in the main office via e-mail unlike in
the past where they would have to send it every end of the month
with the survey results report for the whole month.
Handle Database – The scholars track down whether there are any
problems in one of the databases example: an account was able to

participate in the survey twice at the same Greenwich branch
(which is not allowed) then certainly there’s something wrong with
the system or such.
Monitors Participants – The scholars also track down the people
who have participated in the survey. If there would be an account
that is just making fun or saying none-sense stuff and did it more
than twice then the scholars can ban or terminate the account.
Assess Report – The branch manager of the store handles all the
tabulated surveys. He/she monitors it daily to ensure their
products’, services’ and etc. quality and also to respond and clarify
quickly to the bad comments provided by their customer/s.
Makes Final Assessment - The main office then makes the final
call. They assess the surveys and makes final decision of what to
do next.

Pizza Hut, home to the country’s Pinaka – pizza, was 1958 by two enterprising
college students, Frank & Dan Carney, in their hometown in Wichita, Kansas. Since
then it has become the largest & most popular pizza chain with over 12,000 restaurants
in 90 countries around the globe in 2004.

Pizza Hut is now more than just a pizza place. It offers a unique casual dining
experience that is different from the usual fast-food environment. The casual dining
restaurant now has an expanded pizza menu, appetizers such as ribs and a new line of
desserts, soup options, smoothies, a variety of pasta dishes and a whole lot more.
Veering away from plastic and tiles typical of fast-food joints of old, Pizza Hut now has a
very classy, casual-dining feel with sleek wooden furniture, warm, ambient lighting, and
a touch of whimsy dominating the whole interior. With the new ambience come more
customer interaction and service that is made doubly fast and extra friendly.

Philippine Pizza Inc., the franchise owner and operator of Pizza Hut, has over
140 restaurants, here in the Philippines since it began in 1984. Its locations are
strategically located from Baguio to Mindanao & are now the country’s most popular
pizza restaurant, with its dine-in restaurants, delivery units and express counters. For the
more discerning food enthusiast, there’s Pizza Hut Bistro. A breakthrough concept in
dining, Pizza Hut Bistro concept offers the best of casual dining, giving you the chance
to enjoy the best Italian-American, along with classy ambience and first class service.

3.4 Streamlining

• Standardization
Instead of just getting the feedbacks from the people who eat in their
stores before 3 pm, now people who eat anytime of the day could participate in
the activity and this is to ensure that the services or the food being served
anytime of the day are of best quality as well as the store’s environment and its
employees behavior could be well assessed and monitored.

• Automation
CRM is such a very vital part of business. Businesses need to find ways
on how to improve theirs. The current CRM system of Greenwich does not
generate much information as expected. They only get the opinions of the people
who eat before 3 pm. And the group’s main concern is how about the service,
environment, and food served after that? For sure there would be a difference
between those times and the group wants them to capture everything and that
may only be done much efficiently and much faster through automation because
Greenwich only gets the opinions of the people before 3 pm so they could give
time for their scholars to summarize the survey activity, tabulate it, print it then
pass it to their manager then the manager would give his assessment.

• Simplification

Instead of doing the usual process of tabulating then coming up a

summarized report based on the tabulated information, now the proposed system
would do the storing of data into a secured database, come up with a report
(more like a crystal report in SQL), and tabulate the data for them. The main
office could now access or view the survey results in that branch from time to
time instead of the scholars gathering all the results for each month then send it
every end of that month. Now the scholars who usually perform the tabulating,
storing, and presenting the survey results could do a much more productive stuff
like to engage more with their customers and offer help in the kitchen. This way,
they could be more exposed to the real operations of the store. Experience
matters the most and the more you gain one, the more you become competitive
and that is what the store needs (reliable people).
