The political fire is in full fury these days as the elections 2013 are approaching nearer, and even

the youth is not untouched anymore. To see the youth so involved in the country politics is in fact a great pleasure, however this is essential that these energies are utilized in the right manner and what currently is happening is that certain political groups are on purpose manipulating (I must use the word)the youth to get their own, indeed personal, wishes fulfilled. Probably referring to such, did Thomas Sowell describe politics as : the art of making your selfish desires seem like the national interest. These political groups claim to bring about a revolution in the country, once they are given power, they say. A question arises in my mind at this point (and I am sure their may be others like me too)and that is Why does one need power to bring a revolution? What is required for a revolution to occur is actually a revolutionary personality, and a revolutionary personality is by definition one possessing all the characteristics of the revolution he is trying to bring about. And only if these characteristics lack would somebody demand power for causing changes to occur. In fact those currently talking about revolution are themselves not sure of what is actually needed. Pakistan is a profound blend of landscapes varying from plains to deserts, forests, hills, and plateaus and literally ALL other landforms that exist on the face of the earth, and ranging from the coastal areas of the most versatile combination of climates. The land of Pakistan contains suffice rather abundant the Arabian Sea in the south to the mountains of the Karakoram range in the north. Within that land is resources of fuels including natural gas, oil, coal .Its rocks bare precious minerals including uranium,

lignite, rock salt, limestone.copper.gold,iron and numerous others. The land of Pakistan consists of soils the world's largest producers and suppliers of the following according to the 2005 Food and Agriculture Organizatio of The United Nations and FAOSTAT given here with

that are fertile and grow almost everything, and that too of an amazing quality and quantity. It is one of

ranking:Chickpea (2nd);Apricot (4th);Cotton (4th);Sugarcane (5th);Milk (5th) This land is one that lacks absolutely nothing and therefore it does not need to change. This was infact my answer to the stereotype: Pakistan ka kuch nai ho sakta..My point is that we should be proud of Pakistan, appreciate its flawlessness and value it.Ours ancestors have sacrificed all that they had just for that one hope that if they couldnt live a peaceful life their future generations will. But this is what we have done to our ancestors hopes. We have ruined our homeland as well as our reputation in front the whole world.

Salman Haqqi(a California return) said in his article 'a Pakistani State of Mind'(published January 4th 2012): It may have always existed, but I wonder if something happened to the Pakistani psyche that makes almost everyone constantly hostileand in that same article was given a reference: Christopher

Hitchens wrote that if Pakistan were a person, He (and it would have to be a he) would be completely

humourless, paranoid, insecure, eager to take offense, and suffering from self-righteousness, self-pity,

and self-hatred.And that is partially correct, unfortunately. So here my point is, what actually needs to

be changed about this country is the attitude of its residents. We Pakistanis need to change our entire modes of life. No revolution can occur ,none of the problems can be solved, none of the conventional inhumane norms of the society can be changed unless WE change!

Criticizing the government has become a common practice over the past few years, though I do not mean that the government is right but I do believe that the problems faced by Pakistan today are as what they do so is every ordinary man corrupt in whatever he does. Therefore criticizing the government alone or changing the government only would not lead anybody anywhere. much a result of our own mistakes as much it is of the government. If those in power are corrupt in

government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected

The form of government in Pakistan is democratic. Democracy by definition is: A system of

representatives. Or in yet simpler words by U.S. president Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) who defined democracy as: Government of the people, by the people, for the people From the definitions quoted above (from different sources)explains that in a democratic society the government alone cannot be

held responsible on any isssue. If a certain problem occurs it is as much the duty of the public to resolve of the public to take charge? Unless the public is interested in only criticizing and not coming up with an alternative. And since the government is formed by representatives elected through public voting, and is from among the general public, therefore the characteristics of government since the last few decades represents the characteristics of the general public of Pakistan. Hence before criticizing the

it as much it is of the government. If the government does not do its duty perfectly then is it not the duty

government one should take a glance on their own actions and to change the government one should

try and change themselves. We have to become more patient, more honest, more humane, more sensitive and everything else that our religion tells us to do. The trouble with our country is that weve ruthlessly neglected our religious laws. These are the laws which the western side of the world has adopted and has ,as a result become prosperous and enlisted themselves amongst the civilized states, as they say. And fortunately or unfortunately these laws were for us to follow!

Those who wish to see Pakistan excel must first make an individual effort to improve their own selves leading to a collective improvement of the society. Though you may be just a single fraction of 170 million, but when multiplied by 170 million makes 170 million! Drops gather to make an ocean,

similarly TRUE Pakistanis will gather to make a wonderful Pakistan! And a true Pakistani according to

me is one who is honest, sensitive, unbiased, optimistic, hardworking and honest towards his work, kind at heart, genuine, reflects simplicity in his actions, is ready to accept and apologize for his mistakes, and lastly has a sense of sense or responsibility towards the society. Only such Pakistanis can change nation. Pakistan and a single man who claims to bring revolution can do nothing but cheat and disappoint the

The improvements that are to be made are simple and none is unaware of those. The only problem is the lack of institutional guidance given to positively reforming our personality.
