What does this program cost me?


CAE provides all books and training at no cost. However, any costs related to travel and lodging are your responsibility. Selected training centres through out CAE's global network. centres are listed on the application you will complete. Centres offering this program may be added at a later anytime.

Is the program available at any CAE training centre?

I currently attend school or work during the day or night. Can I still be part of the program?
Yes, the program times vary and range from daytime to nightime as well as weekends.

Can I log this time in my logbook?

Some Regulations allow a percentage of simulator acquired hours to be credited towards certain categories of flight time.

Will I be provided with training records and a certificate of completion?

Yes, a full set of training and service records will be kept and provided to you ..

Will this program qualify me to fly as a Second in Command in a turbojet aircraft?

The completion of the Supporting Crewmember Program applies only to the simulator. Upon completion you should be eligible for a type rating. If you meet takeoff and landing requirements in the aircraft, you may qualify for the Second in Command position in a turbojet.

Can I get a job with CAE if I complete this program? Can I get grant money from CAE in lieu of the type rating? How do I sign up?

The Supporting Crewmember Program


CAE is a leading aviation training provider offering a uniquique opportunity to pilots.

The Training Program includes:


A three-day indoctrination focusing on the expectations and duties of the position. An instrument competency program using a full-flight simulator or flight training devices. A complete review of Cockpit Resource Management. Enrollment into an SIC curriculum for a turbojet aircraft in a full-flight simulator. Certification as a CAE SimuFlite Supporting Crewmember (SCM). Following completion of the training program, you will be required to provide supporting crewmember services to clients attending training at one of our training centres. Within a 24-month period, you will be required to provide CAE with support at approximately 80 individual training sessions, each approximately five hours in length.

The program trains and qualifies personnel to provide first offcer support at selected training centres at no additional cost to the student. You will be trained to fulfill the co-pilot role while one of our clients is in pilot training, and also during check rides for various Instructor and client certification.
Following completion of the 80 training sessions, you will be enrolled into a program with the goal of attaining a full type rating that may be negotiated with the program manager. In addition to the formal training described above, you will be provided with access to many of the Advanced Program courses provided by CAE: Icing RVSM International Operations Special Airport Operations All it takes to be considered is your time, and your desire to enhance and further your aviation career. CAE will provide this type rating as an educational grant, at no cost to the student. The type rating training will be conducted at selected CAE training centres. All costs for travel and lodging are the responsibility of the student.
