This book was created in order to supplement the partial


requirement is our course Vertical Solution. This book covers the
topics such as Retailing and evolution of Web 2.0 which separates
different concepts and methodologies about how we understanding
the current state of our marketing industry.

Basically, I prefer to choose this quotation by Herman Melville as for we can


relate this statement to the “stage one” or shall I say the first phase of the Internet
into be introduce to the world that we have right now, thus applying to the IT word as
it started, the people in charge or the developer of the Internet, in general don’t
know if they really will introduce the Internet into the present situation they have that
time. Because people in turn may not embrace because of a lifetime change the
could bring their lives in a much competent level, but the twist is that Internet is all
new that time aside from the fact the, information technology is not that important to
the people for that time, they may just ignore and disregard the beauty of surfing
and engaging in the Internet world.

In the long, I must say that I really agree to the statement given by the man,
Herman Melville. Because, I believe that show your weaknesses as a sign and of
expressing yourself is courageous and in fact amazing and a brilliant idea to stick
into.

Applying the statement in the present situations and issues right now as a
citizen of the country would mean that for instance, just like to the NBN ZTE scandal
which involves PGMA, his husband Atty. Mike Arroyo, the witnesses such as Mr. Joey
De Venecia and Mr. Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada, tagged as the “whistle blowers” of the
issue. Until now, the people of the country still don’t know and confused including I,
who to believe in both parties regarding the overpricing of the mega broadband deal
contract. But as for as to us be enlighten the only key is to for the people involved
speak in their behalf with whole honesty and conviction if they have committed any
flaws during the time. Anyways, this would be imply that who will speak for the sake
of the truth to be heard whether right one or the wrong, it still show valor not just to
the people of the Philippines but also to himself/herself most especially to God.

Learning Expectation:

As for my learning objectives and expectation are concerned, I would say that
I would expect the first chapter of the “Cluetrain Manifesto” to teach me about
retailing applying the field of management also equipped.

Review:

As I read the book, I would say that in first I was a little bored in reading but
then after reading a while. I come to realize that this book is quite interesting that
contradicts to what I have thought and first impression about the book.

In general, I would say that enjoyed reading the book eventhough I’m not that
of a book worm, because the book is informative in a perspective of the IT world. The
author used the common language using familiar terms instead of complex words
that as you read the book will give a hard time because of its vocabulary.

What I’ve learned:

In the end of the chapter, I have learned that the history of the Internet
tackling in the discussions of a typical stages of life cycle. Internet was designed to
the 21th century we have as of now, because many people may use it as a form of
communication with no strings attached, can be freely as an individual would wish
and want. In form of anything you a user would want it thus internet can be used as a
purpose of acquiring information in fun and easy manner.

Also, you can enjoy into many different ways as for the forms of variation such
as entertainment, communication, leisure, other personal uses and etc. As I have
read through a source when surfing one time, websites after the next 4 to 5 years
would be not free for the users anymore but instead to be paid in order to gain
access. It sound quite disappointing at the same, an interesting for me if that assume
happening will transpire in the future. Disappointing in a way that it will be added
through our daily expenses, it is sad to say that if that would really happen
information in the long run will not be free anymore and this is what really makes me
sad. On the other hand it is interesting to know because, if that is destined to happen
then everyone can wait for it and if not how lucky we are.

This quote attracts me than that of the others statements present in the
chapter, this statement was stated in the last portion of the chapter as for impacts as
the discovery of human through new things if they are really determine and eager to
do what they really want and so, to explain it much completely of one the best
inventions of man here on Earth – is the Internet. But this is not the topic that the
chapter talks but instead a specific part of the Internet which is the webpage and
how is it appeals to human to construct any.

As I have said, humans are eager to develop and enhance new innovative
discoveries to apply in our everyday life by using technology that are from the
present resources they have gathered, observed and even experienced. I must say
that, we, human are extraordinarily fantastic for he can achieve his goals through his
hard work, determination and self esteem.

As a proof, Internet is there that is present together with the personal


computer we have in our homes which connects all of as in a complex and intricate
connection of systems that involves objects and human to produce information and
spread it all over the world.

For the history speaks for itself, I believe that for me Internet is really one of
the best contribution of men to his living as he lives for the fact, that information can
easily be shared through this workstation of connected system.

Learning Expectation:

As for my learning objectives and expectation to be stated I just at first
consult the title of the chapter but then it didn’t because it is just a phrase that
comprises of lacking a complete. Then it let me think that what is it that the author
trying to tell his audience about longing. Longing for what? In exact words as a may
expressed. So, as I begin reading the chapter I started to puzzled up my mind that
the longing as the title state is longing for a new exploration of invention — and then
came the Internet as for its rhythm and perfect timing. So therefore, my learning
objectives are supplementations of what are the other things I don’t know yet about
the Internet that this chapter would teach me.

Review:

As I read the chapter, I became to realize that web pages are the interface or
shall I say it in jargon “the face” of the Internet. For me, this article is fun to read as
go between through the lines because it’s a mix of telling about the web pages in a
joke and serious manner. In fact, it had entertainment me too, as learned what the
chapters trying to point out.

Well, to evaluate the page number of the chapter is that it is shortest chapter
in the book of “Cluetrain Manifesto” compared to the other chapters all in all. Still you
can gather a lot of information cited by the author himself.

What I’ve learned:

The new insights that I have learned is that we can create a web page as the
source of data in order to produce and transform it into information, which is far more
better than that of the a data because an information is a collective organization idea
that states a fact which can be use and utilize informing another facts because an
information is a collection of ideas that are both relatively connected with each other
when one consider it as a whole.

As for other topics that were discussed included in the chapter, are the
comparison of the construction of a web pages as you have been fired in a job
because in creating a web page can be done as simple as you eat and chew your
food, as I have understand it.

The statement that I have chose shall I say caught my attention when I
reading the between the lines because this chapter presents and proves the “The 95
Theses” put into fact. In other words the quotation means that voice is really a vital
form for a good communication depending on how you transmit the communication
to the receiver of that specific information.

Moving on further, people who are engaged in a business should learn how to
practice a good communication system so that they will be able to inform the

customers with all they want to say regarding any of their new presentations and
featured products, goods and service as well.

Learning Expectation:

Basically upon reading the title, I understand it immediately that yes indeed
talk is cheap as far as my learning expectation are concerned I must say that as go
through the pages of the chapter I have met my desired learning expectations and
objectives.

These objectives includes communication in a much broader sense that yes


it’s true that in a communications have the characteristics of: people which is the
(sender and receiver), channel where the information passes and of course last but
not the least the message/ information you want to convey.

Lastly, my as I have said my learning expectations are exact as it was


presented topics in the chapter, so for the following chapters of the book I must
recognize that this (communication) will follow through and mentioned every now
and then because just like for example when I read this book that is a collection of
words that was research, compile by the author. But as of now, they author wants to
communicate to the audience such as his/ her reader just like what am I doing when I
read its informative books.

Review:

To review the things and to react to the chapter, frankly saying this is one of
my least favorite chapter (upon reading chapters 1 and 2, and this, now), although I
knew at first that yes in fact that the topic covered in the chapter was relevant and
the backbone of all the chapter if my assumption were right.

It didn’t I have a quality time than that compared when reading the previous
two chapters. I don’t know why, but the chapter was fine. Anyway, I hope that I would
learn to love this chapter when I continue to read the following other four chapters
and much better, can use it to understand unclear topics to be compensated by the
information presented in this chapter.

What I’ve learned:

The reflection I have gained by reading this chapter would allow me to speak
that yes “talk is cheap” it is because anywhere you can relay your message as long
as you wish but the important thing to consider regarding this chapter is the unity of
understanding by the information presented in any given way.

As when the Internet was introduce to planet Earth. The forms of


communication have been expanded because they again a new of messaging your
love ones, friends and even enemies as for you wish. With the presence of internet,
many have forms of communication have been developed by different sectors such
as email, ebusiness/ecommerce, blog, chat and even open source platforms (known
to wiki/s)

Well, as of now it is a good thing to try, treasure and utilize all of this forms of
communication presented in variations. In the future, there might be a trend of new
line up of upgrading these forms through the use of computer. But as for now, let’s

just enjoy the resources and availabilities we have whether in the IT industry or any
field because I believe that these are strengths and opportunities for us, humans to
share our own of creativity and craft of artistry and professionalism to share unto
others.

As for we can right now, once again to wrap up and close this essay just utilize
and enjoy all of the availabilities because we are very lucky to have all of these
things and one more things, every individual should also learn to welcome change
because as we all and familiar to the statement that” change is in the only thing that
is constant in this world” and also remember that simplicity is a good as a you are
being through unto others, to yourself and most especially to God.

The statement is one of the chapter quotation that have struck me in a


different level. I don’t know what but out of all the quotations I have read through
books and also did experience. The is one of the quotations that I have to deal with
and to say that one of the best quotations I have encountered.

Personally, the statement for me means a lot of things that we can apply to.
First stop would be, yes indeed that the author, Garrsion Keillor in fact choose English
as the language in his statement its because English, as we all is the lingua franca
meaning the universal language that is being spoken if not majority. So, for it follows
that it is a perfect language. Thus the next implication is that preachers even its
followers of any aspects should and would speak the said language to communicate
and interact to his/ her people. So with this, English becomes a medium or bridge to
gap people’s ideas, thoughts and emotions.

Learning Expectation:

After reading the first page of the chapter comes to me to think of what would
be my learning expectation as for I go and read the chapter. Well as I go to it page by
page, one by one my expectations begin to be formed.

My learning expectations are that I want to prove that markets are really
conversations. In what sense, and how is possible to interact by not looking to the
one you are talking with for the concern of networked markets.

Review:

My book review would start tackling of what have I felt during the reading of
the chapter. Well after reading and analyzing the concepts presented and scenarios
of the chapter, I felt that it is quite interesting to read it all eventhought at first, I
really bored of make how to convince myself to read a book.

The chapter talks about the ways and facts that really markets are
conversations in the sense that I had presented to me each concept one by one on
chronological order and perfect timing of the factors involved in the market. It is
divided into several sections which discusses the evolution of different famous
companies in the Information Technology Industry, but still you can apply I to the
general market so to speak.

Going further it have told us, the readers that market is all about
craftsmanship, advertising, marketing communications, pricing, positioning and
public/ private relationship. With this two abilities you would be able to exchange
information as stated by the author of the chapter “interchangeable workers creates
interchangeable products” . Then with this statements comes the production of the
product which in time would be the customer to buy and purchase. Craftsmanship in
the market will deal with the ability to compete with other markets (specifically
companies).

What I’ve learned:

Many things I have learned throughout reading the chapter, first would say
that the genuine purpose of mark is to insinuate the message to our consciousness
for us to along with the environment that we have especially nowadays.

Another is that, out of all the many forms and ways of advertisements just like
posters, radio and television ad the best practiced advertisement still would be the
spread through the word of mouth because by doing such you can past through a
decades of generation.

A quotation that I chosen would have to say that most of the time, everything
that is expected is totally weird with what expectations we have set in our mind. This
statement discusses that not everything is controllable by you or I, everything that
we do is not in the verge of our hands and decision. But still we should always
remember that we are only and only ones who are responsible with are doings and
course of actions. So think twice before doing any.

Learning Expectation:

My learning expectations would lie in the one word which is the “hyperlinks”. I
expect that the chapter will teach me anything and much better everything about
hyperlinks. Facts and trivia are included with what they can do, handle and manage
hyperlinks.

Review:

My chapter review for the chapter is somewhat negative and not that good,
it’s because it didn’t met what I have expected to learn as I have mentioned above.
Things that I have learned during the reading of the chapter would lie on the topics
that hyperlinks subverts hierarchy. As it applies to me, hierarchy is set of ranking
which comprises different level based from a major and minor category. As to apply it
to what the statement is trying to say, when clicking and going for a hyperlinks yes
it’s true we go through are hierarchy of information, it is because by click such you
are able to set of different or even library of websites stored in your history folder
where in anytime you can return and visit to it again.

The chapter entitles “Hyperlinks Organization” then therefore it has to say


that hyperlinks do have a organization and hierarchy, as for it applies to
specifications of websites available throughout the access of the internet.

In the chapter also it presented the characteristics and qualities of websites


and guess what hyperlinks are the first to be on the list, maybe because through
hyperlinks just like internet it connects networks of people that can interact and
communicate with. Other characteristics comprises as decentralization, hyper time,
open and direct acces, rich data, broken and borderless. All of which refer to the
limits of the internet which is not to have a limit.

What I’ve learned:

Basically, what I have learned in the chapter are not that of a hyperlink
approach, but eventhough it didn’t reach my desired learning expectation. I have to
say still I have learn different thing with that of a characteristics of a website and
dependents of the website without hyperlinks. Eventhough it didn’t discuss my
expected insight I’ m lucky and happy to learn such new things that I am not aware
as of before.

There are not as many quotations we he in this chapters than that of the other
5 previous that I have because the chapter is a short only for you to choose from a
bunch of quotation. Anyway to discuss the quotation would be having the setting that
the literature is the question but yet it is only that not anymore to expand about the
answer. Basically that is the meaning of the quotation for me as it applies.

Learning Expectation:

The expectations that I want to learn as I begin the chapter just referencing
using the chapter title. It would teach me answers to various of question regarding

the technology called “Internet” and thus discussing in a much a exact and concise
what would this implications, benefits, advantages and even disadvantages.

Review:

As contrary to I have expected, the chapter is not that informative in dealing


with the topic it tries to tackle. I don’t know why maybe because this is just for me
personal opinion not referring to others, as well. Or maybe it just fit the different topic
in a very compact review that for me resulted in complexity of the chapter idea of the
topic.

Anyway, my review would start that again it have been emphasize that
markets are conversations indeed, But for this time it had come that it had down it to
specifics and thus rephrasing the statement and making it “business are
conversations” . Here we can see from markets is have been change from business. It
refers not to the tasks of the people where doing and that is—business transactions,
not anymore the working environment of the people which is the-- market.

Making it specific is the way to address problems and risk in a market because
by doing so you are letting your self identify your problem in a reachable manner,
making it one by one at a time. By doing such, you could also define what are the
root cause and effects of such problems. So by identifying general problems versus
specific risks and possibilities of problem with such corresponding solutions that they
can do.

In the end of the day, by applying and this process you would come to realize
that you have already come up in a solution you never expected or nor imagine in
our whole life. In addition have done it in a way that make you comfortable and
satisfying for yourself, as well helpful.

What I’ve learned:

Basically what have I learned with the chapter is that how to address a
particular problem, risk and threat in a way that can help improve your business
systems to deal with the fast changing environment such as the markets. Identify
first the problem so that solutions and answers will follow through it—basically that is
the principle of this chapter, chapter 5 which is entitled “EZ Answers”.

The statement strike me most, well to tell you at first the there just few of the
quotations present in the last chapter, so having that you can just select from a
number of few lines. Anyway, for the quotation means that once we have adopt to a
thing and/ or a system would it be anything, its hard for us to eliminate that system
in our daily lives as you try to do. That’s just it as simply as it was stated.

Personally for me, I would say that the statement is true for us, humans. Once
are used to a system it would be hard for us to remove it or improve if it was a
system of” you” for so long. That’s just the way its and life must still go on. The
lesson is that we must be flexible and versatile at all times.

Learning Expectation:

I expect to learn from the last chapter, which is entitled “Post- Apocalypse” a
summary of the entire book. As well as making into conclusions all that the authors
have presented to their audience. Furthermore, I am also expected a lot of follow up
answers to the question that is unclear for me.

Review:

My review for the last chapter would be an emphasis to the Internet being the
general topic, and thus subdivided into its few divisions, and such would be how did
the humans come to get involved to the Internet, the evolution of internet,
managements and many others.

First, I must say that really internets are truly of everyone’s life not including
the technologies we have as of the past. But yes, internet is a large trend to the
humans nowadays, maybe because a lots of things can you do. One click away and
your there to your destination. Internet is knowledge and knowledge is power. All
information now are carried throughout the net. Communication, interaction to
anyone anywhere and anytime are some of the functions of the internet for human to
like it.

Management was also discussed through the chapter stating that information
in the internet are also needed to be examined for factual and realistic data. Many
people love internet so also we must learn how to maintain them as a source of
everything.

Individuals are not afraid of the fast changing world in terms of technology,
fad, trends and to many other things, that’s is why we have easily embrace the
beauty and art of the internet. We are able to adopt at once and make our way of
exploring and discovering.

Changes made by the internet in our lives are not just simple changes, so to
speak, radicals changes are the new opportunities given to us by the internet. But
having this change we must always put into our brains that Internet is just a
technology compared to our life and don’t indulge yourself too much with it because
as well know, technology is the application of science, so if abuse it could disastrous
for all of the human race.

What I’ve learned:

As read the book, well in fact that’s my learning expectations and insights
were met by the last chapter. It just that many informative facts are also presented to
support the principle that the book is trying to convey to its reader. Such topics
relevance of the internet and web and the changes it have made to the planet we
have right now. Also the technology is really advanced to our time compared to the
past.

Learning Expectation:

Upon reading the title, my learning expectation for this particular book is to
basically put into minds the concepts that can help in establishing a business if ever,
in the future. New and fresh concepts to be introduce through this book hopefully and
easy to apply procedures.

Review:

The first chapter talks about the ways on how a business minded person can
engage in putting up his/ her own business specifically in the field of E-commerce.
Here, it stressed about that before making plan of actions in the business, you must
of course first know who is/ are your target markets. In a way, this can be a good
ingredient in making a difference is the business field that I have just stated. Learn to
prioritize also in dealing with your prospect so that a good transaction and
harmonious one would transpire, who in turn can benefit both of you and your buyer.
As much as you can learn how to attract them in a different way, so to speak. And
then, after some time make them persuade to stay to surf and look what your goods
and products are.

One thing also an ideas that put in to focus is to build your own brand in terms
of making your own identity freely forming an impact to the customers on how to
consider your products. Having this can ease the business to it’s way to success.
Brands are not just considered to be the name of your company, but in general it
means the whole image of your company or business. I know that this is quite hard to
do but the mere fact to strive for doing this would allow your business boom and be
known reaching to a larger scope of markets and individuals. Tips that you can make
to do this is to construct a web site with your domain name that is easy for your
customers. Easy in the sense that it can be remembered immediately by your dear
customers. Your online website and e-commerce constitute it all, because it is fact
that not all of your customers are fun of the internet, right? That’s why also
concentrate in promoting and marketing also offline through the public relations and
advertising.

In this way it is guaranteed that you are reaching your business available in a
large number of customers, who might way to buy your product. Keep into mind that
in online business, the general rule of your branding in any filed to arrive on the Net
has the best branding opportunity. Thus, I can relate this to the statement “first
come, first serve”. In the internet competition still exist so you can remove the fact

Lastly, my over all reaction to the book having read it for the first is that it had
really make the readers to examine new ways, concepts and ideas in a different
approach. A good start for your business to start with.

What I’ve learned:

Insights and learning of mine would make me think that there are a lot ways
and a lot more of manners in make out and put up your own little and simple
business. One of the easiest way is via internet especially nowadays. For the present

Learning Expectation:

In continuation, my learning expectation set for the chapter are as follows: 1.)
Technical strategies that you can make to achieve better success in your business; 2.)
Ways of integrating your system and lastly,3.) how to deal with your customer in a
different approach.

Review:

To evaluate the whole chapter with its new approach and points of views, I
must say that an organized system of data is what a business should have to make it
through the top. Systems are essential part of any business you may want to do,
because of curse without systems many outstanding organizations now are not as
successful as they are now if they don’t have an organized and clear system.
Employees all engages to any system that they are task to do and other person still
doing and practicing systems as a big entity of their work. If you would have notice
that the setting of an business and corporation of setting up their departments would
four divisions, and these are as follows: Sales and Marketing, Accounting and Finance,
Operations and Production and last but not the least the Human Resource. For the
simple reason that without this a business cannot function well to perform and
achieve what are their vision mission for the existence of their organization. Also,
they all of the four departments that I have just mentioned are interrelated so as for
the one is not present, this can be a potential hindrance as well, for the company to
make their goals.

With this particular chapter of the book, I have proven that every storage tool
of a data are not of the same with each other, and these are the data warehouses,
data marts, data minings and etc. For the generic among the three are the data
warehouses wherein you store all your files, data, and pertinent documents and

Learning Expectation:

In fact, my learning expectation for this book is not that of a great interest at
first. For the reason that I can relate to the title, but fortunately as I read the 8 pages
of it, I soon realized that a management concept is now again to boost my knowledge
about business management.

So far, I expect to learn to relate the title to the context and statement that
they books wants to say. Understanding this book I believe is not enough, but for
further learning you must apply it can be now or in the future.

Review:

Frankly speaking, the book was interesting to read, as you go between the
lines. Back catalog is the magic word to depict the book in general. For it explains the
potential of any product that can be brought to life again because of certain
situations. Just like for the example of “Touching the void” and on the other hand, “In
thin air” as it was briefly justifies in a clear manner the concept of back cataloging.

What I’ve learned:

In general, I have learn that in retailing we must have hope of making such
product again and again because your customers needs and wants are always of a

learning experience for this particular chapter is to understand the message of eBay.
Secondly, how did the eBay make it to the business in the field of commerce? A brief

strong connection to its customers worldwide. To understand it all are my learning
objectives for this one as it comes from one of the influential people that I think

As soon as I finished the chapter, I have realized that the approach of this

The review that I will make as of now is a review is not as similar like the other

My learning expectation for this particular chapter would be not of a complex


one, for the fact that the website of LinkedIn is a familiar site for me. By the way,
what am I expecting to learn are the impact of the Web 2.0 to the website.

you can do using your internet as a resource, therefore with all of this present,
companies have gone their way off to the impact of the people.

21. Companies need to lighten up and take themselves less seriously. They
need to get a sense of humor.

It is by good rhythm and timing to have a sense of humor and at the same
time seriousness in all that we do in life, as the saying goes laughter is the best
medicine, right? Everything that we do in life is of a good thing as long as it is in the
right and perfect timing. When speaking about companies and corporation, this could
and should also apply- to all the workers, employees, CEOs, OIC, President and all of
the staff should require themselves give themselves a short break even for minutes
of relaxation to ease their minds and even their hearts after a hard day’s work. I think
this is what the statement “companies need to lighten up and take themselves less
seriously. They need to get a sense of humor” wants us to realize in our daily lives.
Life is not about making yourself stress out with all of your tasks and missions you
have and need to make in the future. Sometimes, make it a point, even time after
time to see to it that you can balance your life in terms of IQ and EQ. It is also of
great achievement that having a balance life inspite of many problems and
endeavors in your journey called life, you might want to just laugh it out loud for
there would be no of good effect to think and think about what are your adversities in
life instead all of this can just bring you down and make you despair. You might want
also to consider and look to the bigger picture that the life can offer you despite all of
the challenges you are encountering. As for my conclusion goes life is really short,
therefore we must not waste time to live each and everyday with no
accomplishment, but instead make your life meaningful and remarkable for others.

For every individual I believe that each of the term and vocabulary we choose,

and last but not the least, especially the customers. In this specific statement, humor

companies and corporations should shown respect to the customers that they have in

Some companies, nowadays tend to forget this concept because as for their main
objective is just to create their business to have gain high profits in return. But in fact
this shouldn’t be the case because companies are established in general to respond
to the people who will need their products, goods and services for a specific
purpose/s. Every company has it’s own purpose to be founded and so, as long as that

are established because of their consumers, but when you try to look at the other
way around stating that consumers are here because of the companies it is quite not
a good and fitting logic to think about. Anyway, I believe that the first priority and
concern of a companies are of course their consumers because without them they
could make their business grow in term of any aspects such as financially and making
their name world wide. Positioning in a good sense is a good indication of relaying to
your customer that they your first concern. Try to look for the good and well known
companies, may it be local or international. Let just have the example of Microsoft,
they became well known and became popular because of Bill Gates who have
created the operating system called the Window, which to be remained to be their
position as of today in the IT world. Many people have embraced their products and
thus they give what their customers wants so as for today they are one of the leading
computer companies we have nowadays. So with this, we can position to make our
business and create customers relationship as well.

24. Bombastic boasts—"We are positioned to become the preeminent


provider of XYZ"—do not constitute a position.

A negative impression that may reign to the customers forever unless proven
may lead to the statement that “Bombastic boasts—"We are positioned to become
the preeminent provider of XYZ"—do not constitute a position” as stated above. It is
by great boast to declare some kind of an announcement especially addressing to the
market that they are targeting but nonetheless to their competitors as well. A
company as far as ethics and norms are concern should not be boastful and/ or
arrogant about what are their achievement, in general because the tendency as I
have said earlier is that less and less customer should are waiting for them to see
and look for their product. As it was said that the statement in a sense is not a
position is really of a good “point-out”. Being aware of what are your products, goods
and services are enough to boost the company objective to build a relationship to the
customers to make them like or moreover dislike you. But if the latter happens,
always remember that innovation is the solution to re-address their needs and wants
to clean for a new slate in building a new relationship with them. It’s not too late to
improve and develop your product for a company if customers reject because I
believe in the saying that there is always a room for improvement, this is good way of
making business rather than being arrogant and be proud of having the greatest
“anything” in the world. Because in this way, you are admitting indirectly that you’re
perfect in nature and nothing for any aspect that you possess that is in need of
change or improvement—which is impossible.

should listen carefully to their customers so that they may be able to get what is it

For me, in simply term the primary meaning of the statement, is that

a big impact for the customers of big companies to make this strategies because
what they may think is that companies are hiding for them not to know a big trend

there to support what is it really that the customers would want and need for a
specific period of time. Companies must exert effort to interact to their customers
regarding what are their products are for it is the only key that may affect what
strategies that they would be using to ensure that what is that they are making is a

harmonious relationship between its people in terms of communication, interaction
and extending your hand through helping your own way, regardless of whether in a
little or big way. Same concept also applies in the market integrated with the human
communities that are practicing discourse in their own respective ways. Markets are
able to make the most of it from their business if they will do and continue to apply
this concept through their observance in a great way this is a great benefit for them.

In fact, markets are community of discourse, this particular statement is an

for solving the problem would be a great help as well because when have to examine

simultaneous would be a hard time for them to make, even though in time they can
make it all but of course in proper allocation of time to start with, so to speak. For this
not-so-good experience both of the company and the customers are not mindful of
the time, much for the customers concern. But in fact, these are the things that the
companies should be focusing and concentrating. Money in the business is not the
only thing that is important for the corporations because if you try to think it
repeatedly about the thought that how does a company produce money, mainly
because of their customers. As I always say that for with the customers, company is
nothing. Furthermore, not only of the marketing’s job to communicate to their
customers but the whole company as well. From the time the inception of the
company, every department of that company should speak the language of the
company to the people they would like to please because in the end, benefits shall be
with them.

87. We'd like it if you got what's going on here. That'd be real nice. But it
would be a big mistake to think we're holding our breath.

The time wherein the customers have to act for their respective needs and
wants would be quite absurd to talk about, but for my own understanding of this
specific statement say so, this is what the mere and primary topic. The customers are
waiting for the company to the first step to initiate about the transaction that would
just happened, but in case that companies fail to do things that should be done in
order to complete the cycle all it would be a hard for the both of them to pursue their
own benefits and personal interest. It says here that for the customer side will like it
more if the company are into that mood too, but if in the other hand, customers will
unfortunately not to like if the all the things that are going in front of them are not
pleasing to the eyes. Nice scene shall be expected to happen and admiration of the
company are to happen if the lucky circumstances are about to happen. It is a

misconception for the company to think about the things coming out in their way are
the ones also fitted and the suits the customers interest and intentions. For a time,
when customers are to hold their breath in some cases is not a good sign at all for
the reason that referring to these customers are not happy about the products, goods
and services that are being offered to them. For that reason as well, a improvement
for the company’s part should be done in order to response in such cases.

88. We have better things to do than worry about whether you'll change in
time to get our business. Business is only a part of our lives. It seems to be
all of yours. Think about it: who needs whom?

The customers are not always there to admire and buy all of the products,
goods and service of a particular company in the market that is taking into
consideration. As time goes its way in becoming older and longer, so as for the
people interests as well. In speaking for this topic will make a lot of subtopics to be
covered too, so as much as possible I will try to make my explanation for this as
simple as it can be. First, as I have mentioned earlier, customer are not always there
to be with the company’s products and service, companies must accept the fact the
people changes too in terms of disposition, mindsets, emotions and thoughts in life.
Together with this change will make a progression with the fast changing world that
will include that market itself. But that is not the overview or shall I say the school of
though being pointed out here in relation with the statement. Business is just a part
of every customer’s life, meaning a lot of things and activities are also needs to be
done by an individual. But if you take it into analogy, companies in the simplest
sense, only concerns about making about for their business, in the first place. After
all, companies are established because of business. Moving on ,to incur all of your
time for the business will make a hard time to do all the activities for the customer’s
part, that is why all of them are telling to the companies to weigh the things that
should be prioritized so that everything shall be put into place in the end.

89. We have real power and we know it. If you don't quite see the light,
some other outfit will come along that's more attentive, more interesting,
more fun to play with.

As the world changes a lot of things are also changing, what am I talking
about here are the mentality changes of the customers to shift from one brand into
another. It is not an easy thing for the customer to shift one brand to another as I
may say, but if the companies give them the reason to do this course of action then
they must really do such because there are no other choices left. It is not easy thing
for the customer to make and this kind of move for the reason that there are no
guarantees that the company that they would be choosing is much better in terms of
the products, goods and services that they are offering. For this time also, a point of
comparison can never be eliminated because a reference have already been there to
stay in the mind of every individual. The power that are being talk about here are the
things that a customer can do to make a way or specifically speaking an alternative
way to compensate with all the flaws and glitches of their previous companies. I
would love to reiterate that it is not always a bad thing if one person chooses to shift
from his/her previous unto another company. Variations and a lot of motives are also
to be pondered when speaking for this one. As for my own point of view, what is
being focus for this thesis is that they are lot of companies that are there to help a
customer to cope up. Technically speaking, there are the competitors, so to prevent
all of these things to happen a company should always improve all of their offerings
in terms of their products, goods and services.

90. Even at its worst, our newfound conversation is more interesting than
most trade shows, more entertaining than any TV sitcom, and certainly
more true-to-life than the corporate web sites we've been seeing.

Another topic statement that are in need to be talk about and are subjected
for clarifications. For this stage comprises the things that are focusing to the
weakness of the company being evaluated. If time have allow all of these things to
happen: the shift and change of environment by going to another company acted by
the customer then, everybody must also accept the fact that all of these are really
going to happen if not now maybe later. But take note, for all of the companies out
there that the only way to prevent this is the continuous improvement of the
companies offering. Always put in mind that the first rule should make an impact to
your customers meaning do not make your customer bored with all of the things
he/she has been seeing for years. Of course, change should always be the thing to
connect this all that is why do not ever make them think that they are not important
and significant in line with the goals and objectives of the companies because if one
of this things have happen then that is the end of the presence and existence of your
customers to the company you are into. Maintaining the rapport to always connect to
the customers because keeping in touch of them will enable the company to make a
lot of things such as conversing, transacting and many others. Finally, making all of
the things that I have mentioned will make your customer prosper its interest to stay
to the company because once they have realized all of the things that are being done
to them and for the fact the company that they are into are doing their best to serve
them then there is no reason for them to leave and look for another company that
will respond to their needs and wants.

91. Our allegiance is to ourselves—our friends, our new allies and


acquaintances, even our sparring partners. Companies that have no part in
this world, also have no future.

The loyalty and the main concern of the customers are themselves of course
when dealing with the company’s products, goods and services. Of course it will be
their selves first before anyone else because what is talked about here are their
personal needs, wants interest. For that reason as well is a good sign to stick to the
companies that they have right now. Companies that are not striving to the qualities
that they must bring should stop their operations for there are no reasons for to exist
in their field of business as well as in the market too. These are the things that the
statement are trying to say in the first place. Moving on, the whole cycle would not
be complete if the companies are not there so for this one, companies in its bare
meaning should not really stop its operation but instead improve and revise their
products, goods and services continually for this will also help them discover and
explore new things and techniques to innovate their business. Also, it is not only for
the customer’s benefit as well but for the whole community too. Companies in
serving their customers, clients and others should not be in that of a narrow minded
but instead open minded because this will be an advantage for them more than in
that of a disadvantage. What your status in present can also reflect what would be
your status to happen in the future that is why making an investment throughout the
days of the existence will be a reward as in the future.
92. Companies are spending billions of dollars on Y2K. Why can't they hear
this market timebomb ticking? The stakes are even higher.

Companies at all cost will continue to invest in all of the things that can make
and help them better all of their products, goods and services. We all know that doing
this process will not be easy at all. Money spending will always be the thing to be talk
about when upgrading any system. The analogy of course will make a picture that

much expenditures would make more quality to the system that are in to the
coverage that will be upgraded. Especially now, the year of Y2K is not a joke, for the
technologies are to be expected to really be advanced that are destined to address
the much heavier and hardcore problems that may happen. But wait still there is a
problem to be considered for the customer, they are complaining that along with
these systems that they are upgrade why can’t they inform as well their target
market with the way that are happening to them. It is such a bad news for the
customers to know that at all cost they are ready to spend millions and billions of
dollars for the entire company but why can’t they also spend for all of their customer
service. What at stakes here are the ones who make their business flourish, but how
come it is not an asset or awarding for them to serve their customers. Anyway, with
all of the questions that are coming to the minds of their target market one thing for
sure should be done companies must know how to prioritize all of their activities and
make them done in a chronological order.

93. We're both inside companies and outside them. The boundaries that
separate our conversations look like the Berlin Wall today, but they're really
just an annoyance. We know they're coming down. We're going to work
from both sides to take them down.

The barrier between the company and its customers is such a sad fact that
should be put into reality for all of the people involved in the cycle of the business
and in the venue of the market. If anyone did not do something about surely the
relationship between the two will not go far beyond in becoming a mutual
understanding. For my own opinion, both of the entities involved should make a
move to resolve such major problems. Companies must learn how to reach out for
their customers while on the other hand, customers must also know that for a fact
they must reach out as to the companies that are trying to make a relationship at
them. The human voice is always one of the factors to be considered to connect
because with such circumstance everyone can now pay attention and relate to the
topic if they are genuinely executed. The unity of language is another factor that
should also be made so that the language can be understood by the customers.
Annoyance at all cost should be eliminated because this cannot help to save the
pending transactions that are yet to happen to open for a lot of opportunities and
strength for the company and the industry as well. Communications despite of all the
flaws that can happen should be achieved for the reason and proof of connection
shall also be take into consideration. For all of this recommended actions will not
make a sense if both, the customers and the companies don’t have the sincerity and
commitment into their hearts and minds in the first place.
94. To traditional corporations, networked conversations may appear
confused, may sound confusing. But we are organizing faster than they are.
We have better tools, more new ideas, no rules to slow us down.

Competence is always their to make any business challenging and to motivate


every employee as well, that is why networked conversations are formed as a result
to the aim of the efficiency and competition. But confusion is the thing that can make
these networked conversations to push through. Yes, these things are confusing to
hear for everybody for the reason that coming from the keyword itself network
conversations meaning interrelated discussion of anything but for now, we are talking
about the market which involves the companies and its target market. Customers can
organize things faster when comparing to the company’s overview for the reason
that everything regarding the customer are not of a complex just like the company
itself. When you say customers, most of them have the align and similar interest and
train of thoughts when it comes to their ideal products, goods and/ or services. We
can’t get rid of the fact that customers are demanding with all of theirs needs and

wants. But we can accept the fact that these customers are ready for them to say
what are their demands and intentions. Coming from this demands companies can
now organize their new products, goods and services to slow the processes down that
in time will make a new ideas, better tools and reinforcements of rules shall be
implemented for the company’s intention. After all, companies and customers are to
be satisfied if all of their intentions have been made in the end the betterment of the
society have been uplifted.

95. We are waking up and linking to each other. We are watching. But we
are not waiting.

Now is the right time to wake up after a long sleep. With all of the thoughts
that this 95 theses coming from the book entitled Cluetrain Manifesto have pointed
out, this is the right time to act and try to apply of teachings that have been
mentioned. Personally, all entire 95 theses have helped to realized that putting up a
business is not easy and simple because they are a lot of things that should be
considered so that you can fulfill everything that are necessary for a corporation to
exists. The statement simply says that may it be company or customer, they are all
ready to start a new life to apply the new techniques, strategies and insights. To link
and to connect each other to form a cycle of business will take a lot of time, so to
speak. Coordination and unity should be the first steps in achieving for a higher
working environment. Furthermore, communication shall always be intact so that
covering of complaints, inquiries and other pertinent questions can be addressed as
much as possible. With the power of communication too, will make be an informative
way of going and moving from one topic into the other topic and helps us think out of
the box. In the long run, this can also help make a good exercise for our imagination
to expand about the topic being discussed. Finally, when all of the companies and
customers have stop all of their arguments and discussion, business for everyone will
be a good deal in any sense in pursuing our life for our own self, for the community

Consejeria de Economia y Hacienda with business tax identification permit
number (CIF) B38788998 based in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands,
Spain.
The company was created as a forwarding agent of personal effects,
balikbayan boxes, for Migrant Filipinos working in Tenerife with plans of
covering the whole of the Canary Islands.
Alongside with our regular shipments of personal effects to the Philippines,
we do money remittance acting as an official agent for BPI (Bank of the
Philippine Islands) Money Remittance Center based in Barcelona, Spain.
One other product is SUNSTROLLERS.COM an independent product and will
work alongside KABAYANBOX as a travel company. This is to promote Tenerife
and the Philippines via the internet re accommodations and local tours. A
Travel Office will be created in Tenerife to address clients’ needs.
The company will be known as KESP (Espania) with future business openings
in Italy (KITA) and the United Kingdom (KUK).

Our vision is to bridge culture and tradition.
The company’s mission is to showcase the best of Philippine products and
produce. By supporting the small cottage industries in the Philippines, we
hope in a small way to help market and provide a means of livelihood to a
small group of talented artisans’ in the Philippines.
We look forward to our first import of the best handpicked products from the
Philippines. As a cargo forwarder, we were able to encourage hard working
migrant Filipinos, especially in Tenerife, to send gifts i.e. food and other local
products to their families in the Philippines. Apart of their monthly financial
help to their families.
To help further the community, we were able to tie up with a reputable bank
called BPI (Bank of the Philippine Islands) the most prominent bank in the
Philippines. This bank facilitates our Money Remittance service via BPI
Barcelona giving the migrant workers better exchange rates and value for
their money. We guarantee the cheapest service rates compared to other
competitors. In return, we do our best to give back something to the
community. We have allocated a certain portion of our income to help the
community. We offer free shipping of personal effects for migrant workers
who lost a family member. We have a larger place to encourage the
community (please see photograph enclosed) to use our facilities.
We will have a Filipiniana section. This will have a small library containing
reading materials on Philippines. We will be subscribing newsletters issued
monthly from Filipino Communities around Europe. One project is local
community integration. We will have Spanish language classes and seminars
through the local government key speakers. Also, a weekly Sunday mass is
what we hope to achieve.
So one way of giving back to the local government, we created
SUNSTROLLERS.COM. This company will work alongside KABAYANBOX in
providing service and promoting culture. Our future staffs will be highly

trained customer service people. They are expected to attend Travel and
Trade Shows to further their product knowledge and confidence.
KABAYANBOX S.L. is a young, bold and dynamic company who is not afraid of
change within the business world in providing excellent service to all its

Background or History
KABAYANBOX S.L. was created as a center for Migrant Filipinos in the island
by providing them with the services they require such as balikbayan boxes
and Money Remittance. We do regular shipments of boxes for the Filipinos to
their families in the Philippines. A cultural trait for overseas Filipinos who
enjoys sending gifts, clothing and other personal things regularly to their
families in the Philippines. This can only be understood by someone who
knows the culture itself.
The company is a partnership / co-ownership between Filipino Nationale,
Johnny Tomo, and a Norwegian Nationale, Per Bakke.
Don Per Bakke has been living in the island for more than 30years. A well
known figure within the Travel and Tourism Trade in the Canary Islands. One
main reason why the company was created in Tenerife. He will spearhead
the creation of SUNSTROLLERS.COM accommodation and travel company.
Please browse through our long standing website waiting for its launching.
Johnny Tomo, a british resident for almost 15years. He will help to organize
the Filipinos in the island. One of the core points why this company was
created.
Our new business location in the city will further boost the Filipinos morale in
the area with a larger business space to further give them the best service
they need a place where they can meet and do their weekly meetings point
rather than in public parks.
Our future Filipiniana section will surely promote more of Philippines to the
locals. We will be selling Philippine products and produce.

Statement of the Problem

Being both a store and a package shipment company for years, the
Kabayanbox mostly performs their Package Placement System under the
Operations department traditionally for a more hands-on approach.
Processes that oppose adaptability:
•Filing and purchasing boxes for placing a package consume
much time mainly for those clients who were considerably prefer
to be less active.

•Waiting for the package to be prepared and finalized by the


customer also consume much time. Its instance to become more
tedious makes the process even more costly for both customers
and Kabayanbox.

Processes that reduce efficiency:


•Repeating transferring, checking, and reconfirming of the
customer’s package by the Sales Clerk, who performs the task of
maintaining all possible communication as possible with
customers, to the necessary personnel increases the cycle time
especially when the company is managing more placement of
package than the usual. This requiring of much time determines
the wait for confirmation of the client.

•Not having any file support system that will enable a


computerized record to be more accessible for further updating
of customer information and transaction only make the company
more liable for inaccurate details.

This led the analysis team to confine the study within that department
specifically on the processes of purchasing the boxes necessary for the
shipment, requesting for package pick up, and storing the actual package for
the shipment quota. In response to the firm’s mission to serve the clients to

the fullest and create an environment where the client’s needs comes first,
the analysis team aims to provide options for the improvement of its
decelerating efficiency and adaptability.

Objectives of the System

The goal of the study is to set an overview of the possible changes for
the enhancement of efficiency and adaptability to the changes in the way
the market wants their package to be processed. In order to achieve such
goal for the benefit of the company, the analysis team intend to:

• Move from meeting basic requirement to exceeding expectations


• Adjust and adapt to changing customer needs
• Provide nonstandard activity to meet special client need
• Reduce total cycle time
• Remove unnecessary administrative tasks, approvals, and
paperwork

Significance of the Study

Aware that the Package Placement System within the Operations


Department performs a significant role in the relationship and agreement of
the customers and prospective clients with the Kabayanbox in mind, a study
on the Package Placement System does not only define the actual internal
threats in the present processes of the company but it also identifies the aids
and the barriers to the goal of slowly boosting the efficiency and adaptability
of the system. Because Kabayanbox does not advertise their services nor
apply any other technology, the current system is the only point where
clients can inquire about them, thus opening more opportunities for the
improvement of the firm and adapting with the needs of the clients. Also,
once the clients apply with the new modified system, the experience of the
effortless process of placing their packages and confirming to ship them in
an account should guarantee the client’s trust. Gaining the client’s trust and
serving them with preeminent satisfaction will bring the company on step
closer to the vision of being the number one Filipino focused package
Shipment Company in Spain.

Scope and Limitation


The study on the Package Placement System of the analysis team
concentrated on the processes of allowing a customer in updating existing
information and new clients to apply for placement of their package.
Although the study included the placing of packages of customers and
preparing their packages, it did not encompass the computation and the
recording of all transactions and the payment of the company to the actual
shipment company. Kabayanbox being only an intermediary for customers
who seek to place their packages to be shipped is the only concern. The
physical shipment will be liable to the shipping company contracted by
KAbayanbox which ensures safety and time bound delivery of goods and
services.

Sales Clerk:

The Sales Clerk accommodates the customer and records all the
transaction. He/she is also assigned to answer the confirmation whether the

Narrative
1. The customer will buy boxes of their choice from the main office of
Kabayanbox S.L at Tenerife, Canary Islands. It depends on their items if
they want to purchase 2 or more boxes. Regarding about the weight of the
box if there will be an extra charge. Also, it is optional to buy the tape for
packaging.

2. The sales clerk and the customer will have a transaction regarding on
how many box they purchase, how much is the weight of the box. And all
other requirements of the company. The customer comply all the
requirements of Kabayanbox S.L for the issues of loss or damage and
must also comply with the shipping company who is responsible for
shipping their items.

3. Customer will pack all the items that he/she wants to deliver. When it’s
finished, the customer will call the main office for pick-up.

4. The assigned clerk in main office will call the Transport Agent or their
hired people specifically to pick up and transport the package to the main
office.

Note: As Kabayanbox S.L wait for the packages to reach the quota, they
will contact the Monark Customs Brokerage Corporation who is
responsible in forwarding or delivering the customer packages all around
the Philippines. Kabayanbox S.L will confirm Monark that there will be
arriving boxes.

2. Then registers for the transaction. Listed are the following information
prompted to be filled by the user.
• Fills out personal information of the customer. His Last Name,
First Name, Contact Number, Home Address, E-mail Address. This
primary information would be used to reach the sender of boxes
being transacted to us.

NOTE: From now on, from time to time, there will be a cancel
button present in the page asking the user if he wants to continue
or not. If the cancel button is selected it will always be directed to
the home page of the website.
3. If continue is selected, after the filling the personal information page, now
the user will be inputting shipping information. The shipping information
details are vital information which would be used by the Kabayan to inform
them to whom and to where boxes being transacted will be transported.
Without this relevant information Kabayan will no longer give their service to
the customer since the company has no information on where to ship the

4. After having the necessary information about the shipment venue, the
user would be able to view the estimated quotation on how much he
would be paying for the shipment of his goods. The value would vary on
how many boxes he had pointed out he would be sending.
5. If the customer agrees to the price delivered to him on the quotation, he
will fill the necessary information of the payment terms. We have
assumed that the customer will be paying in pay pal.

6. Once necessary information is given for the PayPal, the website connects
to the PayPal and confirms the PayPal account if it is authentic and real.
7. Then, the PayPal validates the account. If it is valid, it will perform the
operation. On the other hand, if the PayPal account the website will
automatically go back to the page where it is asked to input information
for the payment for PayPal.
8. If the PayPal transaction succeeded, the customer will be given a tracking
code where he can track the status of his shipment. The tracking code will
be generated by the server of Kabayan.
9. Finally, the customer will get to view his registration details. Anytime he
has the right to know the status of his shipment by just going to the
company’s website and click on the button, “view my shipment status”.

Activity Diagram Narrative

A. Supply Shipment Data

a. The customer will go to the homepage of the company to view the


form for application. Upon filling it up, the customer will then check
and submit the form.

b. The system of the company will now check if all of the required fields
by the customer are supplied completely. If it is valid, the system will
notify the customer, but on the other hand if it’s invalid the system will
ask to the customer.

c. Upon supplying all of the necessary information the system will now
process all of the paper papers.

B. Track Package

a. The customer will go to the website of the company to enter the


particular Tracking number assigned to him/ her.

b. The system will show the form for the tracking of package/s and will
the update for the specified package from the database.

c. The system will be able to view the package status when if his/ her
tracking number is valid, otherwise if it’s invalid he/ she can’t view the

C. Pay Transaction

a. The customer to pay a transaction should first accomplish and finalize

The analysis team chose FedEx and EMS Postal Express because they
are the same industry with Kabayanbox S.L. FedEx occupy almost all
countries in the world and it is one of the leading shipping companies in the
world while EMS is focused on local shipping services within Spain. Since
Canary Island is a province of Spain and many Filipino’s are working there,
they need not to go to the city and look for the branch of EMS or travel to
Spain just to find the branch of FedEx and to ship their items. Thanks to
Kabayanbox S.L because Filipino’s will just go there to buy boxes, pack items,

Bureaucracy Elimination:
 Removing of the unnecessary tasks to minimize delays and wait-time of
the client
 The elimination of the following process will address the client’s need for
short cycle and wait time:
•the initialling the Sales Clerk
•the multiple check and re-checking of the Sales Clerk
•the constant calls in order for the transaction to be finalized

Simplification:
 Simplifying the application form particularly for making it available online

1. How many people working in your company?
The staffs are place in Spain at the moment. We hire 2 or 3 people to
collect the boxes and responsible to take all boxes to the pier for loading in
the container, 1 person transacts to the customer, and the owners who
manage the company and provide other services. All in all, we have 5 people
in all operations including the owners. When our company expands, we will
hire more people and follow the organizational chart as indicated.
2. What is the form of your business ownership?
The form of ownership is a partnership. We share profit and ideas for
the business.
3. How many regular customers do you have?
We have 100+ regular customers. All of them are Overseas Filipinos
Workers (OFW), our target customers.
4. How many transactions you receive in one shipment?
Normally, we have 60 to 80 OFW Customers per shipment depending
on the season. If the period is peak season, high number of customer will be
sending their items for shipment.
5. How many shipment of boxes in a year?
Based on the shipment chart covering the year 2005 to 2008, the
maximum number of shipments is 4 in year 2006 and the minimum is 1 in
year 2005. It depends on the demand of the customer. (See shipment chart
for details)
6. How they purchase the shipment service?
Customers calls or visit KCIF to order box and other optional items such
as packaging tapes. It depends how many boxes they want to purchase. In
every box they purchase, they should also purchase a tape to wrap the
package/s. They have a choice what type of box they want. This is all
regardless of weight. All items should be fit in the box. This is self service;
therefore they are responsible for packing items in the box and they will tape
it. We will ensure that each box is completely sealed. Upon purchasing the
box, they should pay in full.
7. How many number of boxes to be collected?
80 or less are the minimum boxes to be collected. We will store it first
to our storage room and ready for the shipment. If it exceeds to a hundred,
other boxes will be placed to the next shipment.

8. How transactions are going between KCIF and the shipping company?
Tenerife Customs clears container and Maersk Line will issues Bill of
Lading and accepts container on the first available ship according to itinerary
prepared. Maersk lines assigned container for loading at CAPSA Tenerife

(Container Terminal) where all boxes will get loaded in preparation for
shipment
KCIF prepares all documentations for Tenerife Customs for the
container to get cleared for sailing.
9. How much time for the duration of shipment? What are the routes of the
ship?
Usually, it takes 41 days of shipping from the Port of Canary Island to
the port of the Philippines. This day might exceed depending on the arrival
of the ship. These are the routes:
• Tenerife, Canary Islands (Spain)
• Algeciras (Spain), main hub for all containers within Spain
• Singapore - Kaoshiung (Taiwan)
• Philippines (Port of Manila)

9. Who will receive and distribute all of these boxes?


Kcif meanwhile sends all documentations to its counterpart in Manila-
Monark Customs Brokerage, to prepare in advance container clearance
for immediate release on its arrival at port of Manila. Monark as a local
handler for Kcif, will then unload container and double checked the correct
number of declared boxes in the container.
Boxes are then being delivered by Monark to its final door to door
destination and get the recipient to sign a receipt confirming that the box
has been delivered.
10. How do they confirm the delivery of boxes?
Monark provides copies of each box delivered to Kcif as a form of
receipt for the sender in Tenerife. Only on collection of box at the sender -
they hand in signed Packing Lists and full shipping costs including delivery
charges if box is addressed outside Metro Manila.
11. Why is the store located in that particular area? Does it bare any significance to
your market?

Store location - business address - this is a very central location for all
customers in the island. Since our target customers are Pinoy OFW’s, they can
easily access our main office because of our location.

12. How many are your expected hours of operations? How many employees are
needed to serve your customers? Why that number of employees?

Hours of operation 9AM to 7PM-Monday and Tuesday close. As I said before,


we have in place one driver and pick up person - 2 or 3 persons as the box can be

heavy. We employ an extra person on loading the boxes to the container ready for
shipment.

13. What goods and/or services do you offer? Discuss its general level of quality.

Goods and services

Quality: We offer balikbayan boxes to help the community of Filipino workers. It is


much cheaper compared to send them by post or as extra luggage on their flight
home as the box is cost not per weight but by box. Level of service is first class
as we deliver the empty box and we collect them from their apartment.

14. What basic pricing strategy do you implement?

Pricing tactics - pricing of products and services are regulated depending on


the market. Right now we increased the price by 3% as opposed to 5% by
competitors.

15. What type of store atmosphere do you have?

Store atmosphere - we have in placed free coffee and tea on help yourself
style while they wait to process all of the documents. Cold and hot water with
disposable cups are given to them.

16. Are there particular services you offer to certain customers aside from what you
present in the market?

Customer services. - We are proud of our customer satisfactions and


handling of any complaints. Normally we act on any complaints straight away
to the customer satisfaction.

Terms and Conditions
1.) KABAYANBOX S.L. will decide to accept and shipped box subject to client’s full
understanding and acceptance of this terms and conditions.
2.) We charge an extra Euros 20.00 per box and Euros 5.00 per week until the container
arrives in Manila. Otherwise, an extra storage fees ensued until full payment is received
from the sender.
3.) Client will get advised via sms message or text one week prior to container’s arrival in
Manila.
4.) All outstanding balance will have to get settled or paid in full before container’s arrival at
the warehouse of our delivery agent in Manila.
Otherwise:
a.) Daily charge of Euro 1.00 per day against storage and security fee ensued.
b.) KABAYANBOX S.L. will only keep your box to a maximum of 30days unless prior
arrangement has been made to further keep the box in storage due to non-
payment.
c.) Remember: KABAYANBOX S.L. will never chase ‘payment’ for box’s on hold. It is
your full responsibility to contact our office at Calle General Serrano 37, Santa

d.) After 30days storage of your box’s, KABAYANBOX S.L. will dispose your box
accordingly to pay for shipping, storage, and security costs.
e.) Late payment also will affect the delivery time of your boxes as it will wait for the
truck to get filled of boxes before it goes.
5.) KABAYANBOX S.L. Delivery Agent in Manila is not part of our company. It is an
independent company and facilitates our shipment papers and smooth distributions of our
boxes throughout the Philippines. So, this company is in no way able to comment or
answer questions in behalf of KABAYANBOX S.L. based in Tenerife especially box’s on hold.
Please, read and understand ‘DECLARATIONS’ as per packing list.
6.) Your box on hold will only get released in Manila on receiving a release paper from
KABAYANBOX S.L. Tenerife.
7.) So, any complaints or disputes must be settled in writing addressed to KABAYANBOX S.L.

8.) For claims on missing items, is per packing list terms and conditions please read and
understand it carefully. You must know that our Company will not pay for any lost items as

EXISTING FORMS DESCRIPTIONS

Bill of Lading – is a document issued by the shipping company for the


container that has been shipped. It is a very important document to certify
and declare the contents of the container. This document is needed to
facilitate release of the container on arrival. It has to match the content
description of what’s inside the container.
Box on Hold - this is a form of giving a client the chance to send his/her
balikbayan box without prepayment. The cost will have to be settled and
paid for in full on containers' arrival to destination. Otherwise, the box incurs
storage fees and security fees to make sure that the box is safe until it is
ready to be delivered to the consignee.
Packing List – is a form listed by the customer for all items that will be
placed inside the box. The sender should indicate the description and
quantity of that particular item. This is to avoid missing of items inside the
box and ensure that they packed their box accordingly. The sender must
accept all terms and regulation of KCIF. The sender of the box needs to fill in
that form as required by customs officials.
Promo – this promo is only on during off peak season. This is to encourage
and attract more customers to ship their items here. This is a great help for
sales to increase.
Shipping Instructions - this is to verify that KCIF, the shipping company,
Maersk, and Consignee, Monark Corp., officially agreed they have an official
transactions. Also, it is included all the quantity of boxes to be shipped.
Official Complaint form – this will conclude the quality of service of KCIF.
The customer can report any damage and loss all about the items. But, the
customer needs to conform first in this form.
