Optional "alpha-numeric" node names can be defined for piping element node numbe rs.

These names are automatically used in output reports and graphics. You can switch between "Global Y" vertical or "Global Z" vertical on the fly. Friction can be controlled on a "load case by load case" basis, by defining a sc ale factor for the coefficient of friction. The "Undo/Redo" feature of the input processor can undo an infinite number of ch anges. CAESAR II can perform a "hydro test" load case, with "locked" spring hangers. All output can be sent directly to MS Word. Spring hanger usage can be controlled on a "load case by load case" basis. Load cases can use: the designed stiffness, a rigid stifness, or no stiffness at han ger locations. A "Data Export Wizard" can guide you through transfering selective CAESAR II dat a to MS Access, a flat text file, or an XML file. "Warnings" produced by the "Error Checker" can be reviewed at the output level, in a "Warning Report". The [Help] menu provides an option for "Animated Tutorials", which explain progr am operations. Results from "hanger design load cases" can be viewed by changing the load case status from "Discard" to "Keep". The CAESAR II static load case builder allows a wide range of load case combinat ion methods: Algebraic, Abs, SRSS, Max, Min, SignMax, SignMin, and Scalar. The restraint filter can be used to include only external supports in the output reports. Clicking on the [...] button next to the "delta dimensions" brings up a dialog f or element definition using local coordinates (cosines). CAESAR II supports hydrodynamic loading (offshore waves and currents). For the support of offshore piping systems, CAESAR II provides the B31.4 Chapter IX, B31.8 Chapter VIII, and DNV codes. When in the piping input module, you can use your "mouse wheel" to scoll up and down through the input speadsheets. To get extended OPErating cases you can specify temperatures and pressures 4 thr ough 9 by clicking on the "ellipse" button to the right of the Temperature 3 fie ld. CAESAR II supports fatigue analysis for both static and dynamic analysis. When reviewing static output, the report content can be narrowed down through th e use of the "filter" menu. When on the output menus, options can be deactivated by using [Ctrl] while left clicking with the mouse. Multiple options can also be selected using [Crtl] whi le left clicking. The "Help" menu includes options for on-line registration as well as on-line doc umentation in PDF format. To activate/deactivate an "auxiliary" dialog (bends, restraints, etc.), double c lick on the appropriate check box. When building a model, new spreadsheets can be added using either [Alt+C], or th e C-> tool-bar icon. COADE, Inc. has been providing Engineering Software to industry since 1984 and h as users in over 60 countries. When in graphics mode, the right mouse button can be used to display a "context" menu with additional options. The expected units for all input fields can be obtained by positioning the curso r over the field for a few seconds. A "ToolTip" fly out will appear with the ex pected units. Parameters used to control the solution and stress computations can be modified using the Configuration option. If you are viewing a directory listing in "Explorer", you can drag and drop an _ A file onto the CAESAR II icon to start the program. The COADE WEB site (http://www.coade.com) contains technical information on prod ucts and services as well as the ability to download the latest enhancements to our products.

You can view both the input spreadsheet and the input graphics simultaneously by pressing the "spreadsheet" button on the graphics tool bar. Piping models created by Designers using CADWorx/PIPE can be seamlessly transfer red into CAESAR II for analysis. B31.1, B31.3, and similar codes do not consider the OPErating case a stress case , and therefore there are no allowables provided or code checks performed. The LIST facility provides "block" operations for duplication, rotation, and ren umbering groups of elements. You can add or modify items in the Material Data Base from the Tools option of t he main menu. Technical Support is considered as the top priority at COADE. Telephone calls a re directed to the engineers developing the software, faxes and e-mail are answe red within minutes. COADE provides PV Elite and CODECALC for pressure vessel analysis and design. You can create custom units files to address client needs using the "Make Units Files" option from the Tools option of the main menu. Context sensitive help is provided for all input fields (and includes expected u nits) by pressing either [F1] or [?]. The distance between any two nodes in the model can be acquired by pressing [Alt +D] in the input module. Multiple piping input files can be combined into a single model, using the Auxil iary menu of the input module. Static load cases can be constructed by dragging and dropping components in the "load case builder". The WRC-107 module can be used to evaluate local stresses on nozzles. The "LIST" view provides a concise table of element details and allows data modi fication. Activate this view with [Alt+L]. The value of "ambient temperature" can be changed in the "Special Execution Para meters" dialog. COADE offers Pipe Stress seminars through out the year in Houston, and periodica lly at other locations worldwide. The "buried pipe modeler" will remesh the model and apply soil stiffnesses autom atically, based on user defined soil properties. Expansion joint data bases from various international vendors are supplied to al low automatic generation of complex expansion joint models. COADE provides TANK for the analysis and design of above ground storage tanks ac cording to API-650 and API-653. The graphics modules provide a "4 view" presentation of the model, shown the iso view as well as the X, Y, and Z views. The "uniform load" dialog can be interpreted as "G loads" by checking this optio n in the "Special Execution Parameters" dialog. FRP material properties can be changed on: the individual element spreadsheets, in the configuration module, or by providing vendor defined .FRP files. Various expansion joint and structural steel data bases can be activated via the configuration module. Each version of CAESAR II must pass an extensive Quality Assurance procedure, wh ich includes comparisons to over 300 archived jobs. The API-610 module can be used to evaluate nozzle loads on pumps. CAESAR II can read in the neutral files produced by many popular CAD packages. Structural steel input files can be included in a piping model, using the Auxili ary menu of the input module. CAESAR II has a built in accounting module which can be activated via the Tools option of the Main Menu. The COADE WEB site (http://www.coade.com) includes a CAESAR II FAQ (Frequently A sked Questions) page, as well as a public discussion forum for the exchange of i deas and information. Once a static analysis has been completed, CADWorx/PIPE can use the results to p roduce "stress-isometrics" in seconds. Global coordinates for specific node points can be defined by pressing [Alt+G]. When in the "LIST" view of the input module, the right mouse button will bring u

p a context menu with additional options. An input file can be "archived" to prevent unauthorized access. This is control led via a user specified password. The API-617 module can be used to evaluate nozzle loads on compressors. Up to 40 jobs can be run in series using the Stream processor from the Tools opt ion of the main menu. Anyone who has suggestions for additional "tips" should feel free to e-mail COAD E at techsupport@coade.com with suggestions. This is the last "tip of the day", subsequent startups will resume at the beginn ing of the list.
