Husnain Usman stainless steel industries Gujranwala is the richest city of Pakistan in steel products and Husnain Usman is the one of the best contributor in the steel pottery products mostly the products are deep draw able stainless steel products which includes Milk cans, Tiffin ,Plates ,Buckets .etc Operations involved in production The company is make to order company at the start of the month they take orders from all the customers which are predicted and little variation can take place on phone For my own convenience i take a single piece production of milk can doolh in the production of this piece the following steps take place Process in production Inventory They start from deep drawn able steel plates which are commonly in stock Pre shaping In pre shaping they mould the plate a little bit not the whole Heating Heating took place in the oven kiln which has temperature of more than 1000 c Cooling and full shaping After heating they cool the doolh and mould again till the full shape Drying After cooling & full shaping, drying with wood powder take place due to the oiled before every pressing. Washing Washing is the process of acid cleaning of moulded piece Over mould cutting Mostly in the pressing some pieces are over pressed and became de shaped so they are being cut to normal by this process.

They mostly work 8 hours a day and 6 days a week And 3 parallel processes chart are working for this doolhs so the capacity for a week becomes 60*8*6=2880 2880/6.6=436.36 436.36*3=1309 doolhs in a week But normally they cant able to produce as much due to the gas and electricity problems Recommendations They must reduce their bottleneck They must do process reengineering and reduce the process like cutting over mould Reduce buffering which are at the begging of polishing it will help the continuous momentum of work flow Technology innovation (if feasible) like conveyer belts Use good raw material it will reduce process like heating and remolding and washing Use trained workers on the press it will reduce cutting process
