at the Salmo Village Offce at 423 Davies Avenue from Monday to Friday
during the hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
A person who owns a property included on the Parcel Tax Assessment Roll may
request that the Roll be amended on one or more of the following grounds:
a) there is an omission respecting a name or address on the Parcel Tax Roll;
b) there is an error or omission respecting the inclusion of a property;
c) an exemption has been improperly allowed or disallowed.
A request that the Parcel Tax Assessment Roll be amended must be made in
writing to the Village of Salmo by 4:30 pm on April 20, 2012.
The Parcel Tax Review Panel will meet at the Salmo Village Offce on April

Monday, April 16 to Saturday, April 21 is Prevention of
Violence Against Women Week. Tis is a week that is used
to raise awareness about the issue of violence and abuse
perpetrated on women and children and it is an invita-
tion for people to learn about the issue of violence against
some of the most vulnerable in our communities.
During this week, Salmo Community Services will have
silhouettes on display in the lot on the north side of our
building. Tese silhouettes will display information about
the issue of violence and abuse. We invite people from the
region to come by and have a stroll through the crowd
and perhaps learn something new.
We are all afected by violence and we all have a role to
play in prevention. Come fnd out how you may help in
that prevention and may we all live in peace.

Every spring, bicycle hungry folks look forward to the
bike swap to buy gently used bikes for all ages at great
prices. Te swap is also an excellent opportunity to sell
the biking gear that you no longer use or no longer fts.
Mountain bikes, road bikes, childrens bikes, parts, cloth-
ing and accessories are all welcome at the bike swap. Te
annual bike swap is also the clubs biggest fundraiser of
the year.
Te public is invited to drop of items for sale between
11 am to noon on Sunday, April 22 at the Nelson Rod and
Gun Club. Te sale will begin at 12:30 pm sharp and end
at 2:30 pm. All unsold items and money must be collected
between 2:30 and 3:30 pm. Nelson Cycling Club members
pay a 10% commission on all sold items to a maximum of
$75 per item. Non-members pay a 20% commission up to
a maximum of $100 per item. Only cash and cheques will
be accepted. No credit cards.
Nelson Cycling Club members receive discounts on
bikes, parts, clothing and services at local bike shops.
Memberships will be available for sale/renewal at the
swap. Individual memberships are $10 for kids aged 12 and
under, $15 for teens 13 to 18 years, $25 for big kids aged 19

Exploring Mother Culture:
Grow Mushrooms!
Tis mothers day, join Peter McAllister from Under-
belly Farm and Kootenay Agroforestry Society in a mush-
room growing demonstration, slide show and discussion
at the Scout Hall (Kaslo and Area Youth Centre) on Sun-
day, May 13 from 1 pm to to 4 pm (rain or shine). Tis
educational event is a money and awareness gathering for
the Kootenay Spawn Bank. Part of the proceeds also go to
the Kaslo and Area Youth Centre.
Tis all ages event welcomes those interested in growing
culinary and medicinal mushrooms indoors and outdoors
for fun or for proft. Te workshop begins with a dem-
onstration of simple methods to start mushrooms using
spores, stem butts and commercially prepared spawn. Te
second portion of the workshop is a slide show and dis-
cussion on how to grow and maintain mushroom cultures
such as yogurt, miso, tempeh, beer and wine yeast, shii-
take and oyster mushroom spawns, kombucha, amasake,
sourdough cultures etc. Tis event is for those wanting to
work with mushrooms for culinary, medicinal, spiritual,
nature craf or gardening enrichment.
Te Kootenay Spawn Bank (KSB) would be a network
of people wanting to save, multiply and share spawn. If
everyone takes on culture to nurture, our lives will be

See Me, Meet Me, Hear Me
Freedom Quest Regional Youth Services has been sin-
gled out for exclusive funding in the West Kootenay re-
gion by Embrace BC. Why? So that Freedom Quest can
generate an increased awareness on issues of hate-crime,
racism and discrimination. Tis will happen in the form
of a youth dialogues event called See Me, Meet Me, Hear
Me on Tueday, May 15 at the Selkirk College gym in
Castlegar. With youth speakers, an included lunch, dia-
logue and a puzzle art project, multiple perspectives will
be integrated, assumptions uncovered, and stories will
be shared. Dont miss this opportunity to work towards
building an inclusive community where everyone, includ-
ing youth, is heard and respected. Come celebrate multi-
culturalism!
Youth, adults and seniors are all welcome. Limited space
available please register by Wednesday, April 25 to ensure
a seat. Travel and childcare subsidies are available. Informa-
tion booths are welcomed.
