COMPANY BACKGROUND/CULTURE Alibaba.com (HKSE:1688), a member of the Alibaba Group of companies, is the world's leading B2B e-commerce company. They provide an efficient, trusted platform connecting small and medium-size buyers and suppliers from around the world. Their international marketplace (www.alibaba.com) focuses on global importers and exporters and their China marketplace (www.alibaba.com.cn) focuses on suppliers and buyers trading domestically in China. Together their marketplaces form a community of close to 30 million registered users from over 240 countries and regions. Their operational headquarters is based in Hangzhou in eastern China. They have field sales and marketing offices in more than 30 cities in China, Hong Kong, Switzerland and the United States. The company had more than 5,200 full-time employees as of December 31, 2007. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Based in companys HQ in Hangzhou China, the Vice President, International BD and Marketing is responsible for identifying, structuring, negotiating, and closing partnership with international trade-related services providers and online companies. The incumbent is to work in an inter-disciplinary manner across various departments and geographic regions. Specific responsibilities include: Develop strategy for international growth and expansion in Europe and US and negotiate deals with international partners. Identify suitable partners to achieve new member acquisition and website traffic goals. These partners include trade associations, trade promotion organizations, online partners etc. Grow the brand awareness among customers in different markets Assess and negotiate with partners to come up with a mutually beneficial proposal. Manage ongoing partner relationships, evaluate and explore strategic opportunities. Promoting confidence and trust in the Alibaba team and represent Alibaba brand image in meetings with senior executives from other companies. Work out monthly BD/ marketing plan, developing campaign briefs and reports. Perform analysis of market opportunities and emerging trends, collect and synthesize new ideas for future product development. Establish and manage a strong and efficient International BD and Marketing team with locations in Hong Kong, Europe and US. Work cross-functionally with production, creative, and technology teams to execute business objectives. Manage a team of approximately 25 people equally dispersed at their offices in Hong Kong, Santa Clara and London Serve as a Cultural Bridge between China and the rest of the world both internally and externally Other duties may be assigned as business needs require.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate will be a nimble, influential and results-oriented leader who can develop and manage relationships across the company and with a wide variety of stakeholders. He/She will have at least 12 years of collective experience working in multi-national, publicly traded companies engaged in highly competitive and rapidly changing market dynamics. The Vice President must bring a strong sense of accountability, process and planning in a fast-paced, high pressure environment and meet deadlines accordingly. The ideal candidate will be a proactive visionary with the intuition, creativity and requisite sense of immediacy to capitalize on opportunities in the market. Specific areas of expertise required are: 10 years of marketing or business development experience, preferably multi-national in an international setting. Excellent business acumen & strong understanding of online business preferably in e-commerce sector. Strong organizational and project management skills with an eye for details. Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written. Strong positive interpersonal skills influencing and working crossfunctionally across all aspects of the company. Capability in forming enduring teamwork across an organization and geographies supported by strong networking skills and ability to build alliances. Extensive China experience or China background with superb written and spoken skills of both English and Mandarin Chinese. Willingness to travel internationally.
