ST JOSEPHS PASTORAL LEADERSHIP TEAM
The Pastoral Leadership Team met on Wednesday evening. The prepared agenda was put aside as the focus of the evening centered around the abuse that has occurred within the Church during these past years. We are grateful that Fr John shared his thoughts with us in his homily last weekend. We join him in welcoming the Parliamentary Inquiry and we look forward to an outcome that will give comfort and sustain those who have been abused, and one that will help us all go forward together as a loving and safe community. Pastoral Team: Michael Gray, Paul Venzo, Josephine Pangrazio, Peter Lafferty, John Finnigan, Evelyn Gurry, Tony Herbert, Brian Beirne, Phil Dwyer, Fr John & Mary Lancaster (executive officer) Bishop Peter Connors was interviewed by the ABC radio during the week and he acknowledged the horror of the abuse, welcomed the inquiry and acknowledged how important it is to provide victims with the opportunity to express their pain and their criticism of the Church. I think (parishioners) will be very pleased to know this is now coming out into the open and that our procedures which are currently in place can be examined and that what happened in the past can also be examined. I think its true to say in the past we did act in a way, which by modern standards was very inept. Overtime Bishop Peter has met with many victims of abuse to provide help and support. Maytime Fair: St Josephs School Annual Fair - next Sunday. Your support is very much valued, so please visit the school on Sunday and enjoy terrific food, fun rides and a wide variety of entertainment and activities.
