Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you.

" When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

Welcome Sunday
We invite you to serve! Two great challenges today face a growing Catholic Church in this country: the declining number of clergy and the diminishing level of contributions. Fortunately, two flourishing contemporary developments have emerged to meet those challenges: More and more lay people are donating a significant portion of their time and talents for building a better Church and world. More and more lay people are likewise starting to realize we have all been given an immense gift, our Catholic faith. What an amazing privilege to be Catholic and live the Catholic faith with clarity, passion, responsibility, zeal, and joy. Having been given this treasure, we must be passionate and responsible stewards of the Church. As passionate and responsible stewards of the Church, we live out our commitment through the witness of our way of life. However, being good, avoiding evil, is not enough. We are called to be living members of the Church. It is precisely through the passionate and responsible use of our time, talent and treasure that we contribute to the growth and development of our parish family. Each of us has been empowered to be an active member of our parish family and we have the responsibility to live out our commitment within our parish. Let us be filled with gratitude for the great gift of the Church. Hopefully, the Holy Spirit will bestow upon us a profound sense of commitment so that we will be passionate and responsible stewards of our parish family. We invite you to serve! Please consider giving of your time and talent to our parish family. Join us on Welcome Sunday, May 20, 2012. Welcome Sunday will be targeted to welcome all new registered parishioners and an open invitation to all parishioners to get involve in one way or another with our parish life. We have many ministries to choose from and every one of them welcomes you and is waiting for you to become an active part of our parish family!

MOP and the Parish Youth Group

Christmas in July Jewelry Boutique

Each year, the resale jewelry boutique attracts crowds of shoppers who support our parish school through their purchases during the OMMS Christmas in July fundraiser. As the boutique chairwoman for the 5th year, I can tell you that the school is very grateful to the generous ladies who have donated jewelry in past years. Once again, we are collecting AND WE DO NEED YOUR HELP. If you have jewelry that you never wear, please consider donating it to help the school raise funds. We accept costume jewelry of any era, gold or silver jewelry, broken chains and watches, and old rosaries. Without your generosity ladies, there would be no boutique. We rely entirely on parishioners for donations. THE NEED HAS NEVER BEEN GREATER. If you have a large collection or valuable pieces to donate, I am happy to meet with you personally. You may also drop off jewelry in the OMMS office on week days. I can be reached at the number below or contacted through email at ChristmasinJuly1@yahoo.com. SLOW DOWN
How can I hear what God is saying to me? We try to listen more closely to the voice of God within us. One of the ways for me to hear Gods voice is by noticing what is going on in my life, Gods words through reading the Bible, and listening attentively to other peoples stories. God works powerfully through people helping each other to make connections between everyday life and faith. There is often so little time to notice what is happening to us. A Small Christian Community can be the means of becoming aware of Gods help within our lives. A Small Christian Community is a group of 8 to 12 adults, or families, who come together, usually in each others homes, weekly or every other week to share something of their stories with one another. They also dig deeper into the Sunday Scriptures to discover Gods story. They are much like the early church. The Mission San Luis Rey Core Team invites you to consider joining an SCC. All cultures are welcomed to join or start a group (8 to 12 people). Find out more from Eileen Costa (SCC Coordinator), at (760) 231-9930; or Bartolo Mendez at (760) 945-3701; or Tavale Tavale at (760) 295-4088. Be a part of bringing the presence of Christs love to your Family and Mission San Luis Reys Parish Family.
