2010 - January: Cadbury plc accepted a revised takeover offer from Kraft Foods Inc which valued Cadbury at $21 billion. 2009 - April: Sale of Schweppes Australia Beverages to Asahi Breweries Ltd finalised. Total purchase price approximately A$1.19 billion. - September: The world's second-largest foodmaker, American owned Kraft Food Inc, made a $16.7 billion takeover bid for Cadbury Australia's parent company, Cadbury PLC. Cadbury rejected the offer and analysts predicted other players including Nestle and Hershey to counter-bid against Kraft. 2008 - The parent company announced its intention to sell the Schweppes Australia beverage division to Japanese brewer Asahi, for a total cost of 550 million pounds. 2001 - Launched Cadbury Dream chocolate. 1998 - Launched the Time Out chocolate bar. 1995 - The company expanded into China with the establisment of a factory in Beijing. 1980s - The company acquired the Red Tulip confectionary company. 1969 - A global merger between Cadbury & Schweppes resulted in the creation of Cadbury Schweppes Australia. 1966 - The company acquired local confectionary manufacturer MacRobertson Chocolates. Caramello Koala chocolate bar was introduced, the first Cadbury product to be based on an Australian character. 1958 - Picnic chocolate bar was introduced into Australia. 1939-1945 - Cadbury became the official supplier of chocolates to the Australian Armed Forces. 1938 - Cadbury Roses chocolates were designed. 1930 - Production of Freddo branded chocolate frogs began. 1929 - Crunchie chocolate bar was introduced. 1924 - Cherry Ripe chocolate bar was introduced. 1922 - Cadbury merged with J S Fry and built a factory in Australia. Cadbury and Fry were joined by Pascall, and the new Australian company Cadbury-Fry and Pascall was established.
