Dear Customers, 2009 was characterized by extensive business activity based on two fundamental principles: technological innovation and new business partnerships. Sivan Design listens to its customers, and in 2009 important improvements were made, such as: Roads layers separation in horizontal alignment. Automatic segments recognition for centerline creation. Pipelines display in roads cross sections. New features were added to CivilCAD 2010 many capabilities, like: Roads extreme points height display in horizontal alignment. Extension of existing road (fully designed road). Sivan Design also made important improvements in Civil Simulate: New GUI (Graphic User Interface) for 3D simulation. The new CivilCAD 2010 is available for download from Sivan Design website: http://www.sivandesign.com/downloads.asp In the installation process it is strongly advised to follow the installation instructions and go through the entire 'Setup completion wizard' steps to fit the software to personal working methods.

This document presents the software's major improvements and new features. The changes are serially listed, and divided into the following subjects: GENERAL ROADS 3D SIMULATION

Note: Some paragraphs have been included under a certain subject ("ROADS" for example) can be useful for other users of the software (Surveyors for example). GENERAL
1. Supporting AutoCAD 2010 version
CivilCAD 2010 supports AutoCAD 2010 version and earlier versions of AutoCAD. Sivan Design will support every new version of AutoCAD in the future.

2. New License

Sivan Design developed a new licensing system which is suitable for local licenses as well as for network licenses. CivilCAD2010 can be purchased without a copy protection dongle and licensing process can be done automatically in the Internet or manually by Email. In order to use CivilCAD 2010 with the protection plug/dongle, it should be updated, or an activation code should be installed. Click Activate if you already obtained the activation code or Cancel to quit.

3. Roads Layers Separation in Horizontal Alignment

In the new version, layers Edges & Sections has been separated to the following layers: Edges_Left / Edges_Right for roads edges lines. Ditch_Left / Ditch_Right for ditches lines including shoulders. Berm_Left / Berm_Right for berms lines. Ditch_Elev / Berm_Elev for heights data on horizontal alignments sections. Incline for slopes marks in horizontal alignments. Sections name has been separated from sections mark layer (Sections) to Sections_Name layer.

4. Extension of Existing Road (Fully Designed Road)

In the new version, we added a new feature for extending a fully designed road. To use this feature: From CivilCAD main menu, go to 'Roads Horizontal Alignments Tools'. Select Line_Line_Curve option. In AutoCAD Command Line you will be asked to select the first line. Select the centerline of the existing road. In AutoCAD Command Line you will be asked to select the second line. Select the line for extension. In AutoCAD Command Line you will be asked to enter Cloto. In. Enter the desired datum and click Enter. In AutoCAD Command Line you will be asked to enter Radius. Enter the desired datum and click Enter. In AutoCAD Command Line you will be asked to enter Cloto. Out. Enter the desired datum and click Enter. From CivilCAD main menu, go to 'Roads Horizontal Alignments. Click Select button. In AutoCAD Command Line, type S for Segment and click Enter. At the opened window, click Yes button.

Roads IPs will be updated according to the new centerline. Click Apply to update the horizontal alignment on drawing.

5. Automatic segments recognition for centerline creation

In the new version, we added a new feature of Automatic segments recognition for centerline creation. This feature allows you to mark only the first segment of a centerline and CivilCAD will recognize all other segments automatically.

Note: It is recommended to use Roads Horizontal Alignment Tools for centerline creation.

To use this feature: From CivilCAD main menu, go to 'Roads Horizontal Alignments. Click Select button. In AutoCAD Command Line, type S for Segment and click Enter. Mark the first segment of the centerline and click Enter. On drawing, each segment which is recognized by CivilCAD, will be marked with an arrow. Click Apply to update Horizontal Alignment on drawing.

6. Roads Extreme Points Height Display in Horizontal Alignment

In the new version, we added a new feature of roads extreme points Height display in horizontal alignment. The height datum will be displayed with arrows beside it (arrows pointing out will represent Maximum Height and arrows pointing in will represent Minimum Height). All Extreme Points will be calculated according to roads vertical alignment design.

7. Pipelines Display in Roads Cross Sections

In the new version, we added a new feature of pipelines display in roads cross sections. Pipelines which were designed by CivilCAD (Water, Drainage, Sewage), can be scanned with Get References By Layer feature and all of its data will be automatically displayed in

References table (Diameter, Radius, Offset and Layers Name).

3D SIMULATION

8. New GUI (Graphic User Interface) for 3D Simulation

In the new version, we improved Simulation menu. The new menu is in a Drop down tree format. In order to use Simulation new menu: From CivilCAD main menu, go to Simulate Simulation Tools.

Simulation Tools window will be opened. Right click on the desired sub-menu and select the requested operation. E.g. Right click on Traffic Islands sub-menu (under Roads Road1) and click on Select traffic islands operation. On drawing, select all the relevant traffic Islands for Road1 and click Enter. All the selected traffic islands will appear under Traffic Islands sub-menu. Click on Simulate button to build and watch simulation.

9. Automatic Recognition and Build of Intersections as Junctions\Bridges

In the new version, we developed a new feature for automatic recognition and build of intersections as junctions/bridges. To use this feature: From CivilCAD main menu, go to Simulate Simulation Tools.

Simulation Tools window will be opened. Right click on Junctions menu and select the requested operation.

E.g. Right click on Junctions menu and select Automatic Intersections Creation operation. Intersections window will be opened.

In Max. level difference cell, define maximum height for recognition of intersections as junctions. If the height difference in intersection between centerlines will be higher than definition, the intersection will be recognized as a bridge.

 In Max. tolerance after crossing cell, define maximum length of centerlines (in meters) after intersection, for recognition of intersections as T-junctions. If the length of a centerline after intersection will be higher than definition, the intersection will be recognized as X-junction. In Junction alignment radius' cell, define radius for roads elements building in the junctions. Default search for intersections is: All Project. In order to search an intersection in a specific area, mark Selected area option, click on Select inside window button and mark the desired area on drawing for searching. Intersections Report window will be opened and all recognized junctions and bridges will appear in it. Junctions with Failed status will not appear under Junctions menu in Simulation Tools window.

Bridges with Failed status will not appear under Bridges menu in Simulation Tools window.

Note: If bridges and junctions were already built successfully in Simulation Tools window and after automatic intersections creation, recognized again as junctions/bridges, an Identical Intersections window will be opened.

Click Yes/Yes to all button to overwrite intersections data or No/No to all button to leave without changes. If an intersection was successfully built and after automatic intersections creation, recognized as Failed its data will not be overwritten! Click Close button to close Intersections Report or Save button to save reports data as Excel file. Junctions with Succeeded status will appear under Junctions menu in Simulation Tools window and the word (Auto) will appear beside them. Bridges with Succeeded status will appear under Bridges menu in Simulation Tools window. Click Simulate button to build watch simulation.
