Fixed-Base Precision Approach Radar FBPAR (AN/FPN-67)

The AN/FPN-67 Fixed-Base Precision Approach Radar is an FAA flight-certified and U.S. Army flight-test approved, modern and reliable ground-based precision approach radar.

Benefits

Solid-state X-band T/R modules Excellent clutter rejection and detection Superior performance Reliable low-risk approach Proven design Low life-cycle costs

Raytheon, in conjunction with the U.S. Army, has developed and is manufacturing the FBPAR (Fixed-Base Precision Approach Radar) for the U.S. Armys terminal airfields. The AN/FPN-67 PAR is a modern, highly reliable system designed for ease of maintenance and low life-cycle costs. The use of second- and third-generation NDI/COTS subsystems provides a proven, cost-effective solution to PAR equipment requirements. The FBPAR utilizes proven, solid-state X-band transmit/ receive (T/R) modules. These modules, in production for other DoD programs, provide superior sensitivity and availability. In fact, Raytheon has produced more than 60,000 achieving mean-time-between-failures (MTBFs) greater than 500,000 hours. The FBPAR is a trackwhile-scan system with a less than one second update rate to provide efficient and accurate

tracking of over 75 targets. Its unique antenna architecture reduces component counts by 50 percent while minimizing power and, in turn, life-cycle cost. Its moving target detection (MTD) signal processing, adaptive clutter and STC (sensitivity time control) maps, and frequency agility provide excellent clutter rejection and detection performance in all types of weather. The Raytheon FBPAR pedestal rotates the antenna for coverage of up to six runway positions and can be commanded remotely or locally. Online performance monitoring and alignment software automatically monitors and optimizes system performance. Comprehensive fault isolation software quickly identifies components requiring repair with failed components identity and location presented graphically. The FBPAR is based upon a heritage of military landing

systems designed and manufactured for more than 35 years, as well as three generations of precision approach systems, including the AN/GPN-22 and CR-62. Raytheon is the world leader in solid-state ATC (air traffic control) radar technology, having sold and delivered more solid-state ATC radars than the combined total of all other manufacturers in the world. Raytheon has become a leader in modernizing and upgrading ATC systems worldwide with open, modular, distributed architecture, COTS-based systems and the worlds most capable, user-oriented ATC automation software AutoTrac. This experience provides the foundation upon which the FBPAR (AN/FPN-67) is built and provides each customer a reliable low-risk approach to upgrading their military landing systems.
