As the largest provider of vocational education and training in Queensland, Southbank Institute provide training for knowledge-based industries of the future. We offer more than 260 programs and 120 formal pathways to prestigious universities such as the University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and Griffith University. The institute has long been one of Queenslands leading governmentfunded educational centres. As the `epicentre of education, Southbank Institute is committed to quality, innovation and flexibility. Southbank Institutes location in the heart of Brisbane is a drawcard for the 30,000 students enrolled in more than 260 programs. The campus is well serviced by public transport, just a short walk from the citys central business district and neighbouring the vibrant South Bank Parklands.

Our Staff
Southbank Institute has 900 teaching and administrative staff who work together to provide quality education to cater for varied training needs and expectations. More than 94 percent of our academic staff is degree, postgraduate or Ph.D. qualified Educational delivery is supported by staff with expertise in a range of areas including business development, marketing, student support and administration.

Our International Experience

Our focus on skills for the global economy has brought many international students to our courses with the number of international students doubling every three years. We currently have 2700 international students from 95 different countries including China, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, India and the United Kingdom.

Our Services
Southbank Institute has three specialised faculties delivering over 260 programs.
Faculty of Business and Community Education The Faculty of Business and Community Education works constantly with industry and community bodies, updating existing programs in line with business trends and developing new programs. The faculty consists of four schools with a diverse focus. Faculty of Design, Arts and Hospitality The Faculty of Design, Arts and Hospitality oversees a wide range of programs that provide students with the necessary skills for a career in the diverse and challenging industries of hospitality, creative arts, built environment and digital media. The faculty has four schools delivering programs out of some of the best facilities in Australia widely acknowledged by industry to be world class. Faculty of Health Sciences The Faculty of Health Sciences addresses the significant skill-shortages across the Health sector by providing high quality education and training in both creating new health sector workers and up-skilling and re-skilling existing workers. The Faculty continues to focus on high quality education and training to equip our important health sector with skilled and productive employees.

International Partnerships
Has successfully established a number of partnerships with overseas universities/institutes to deliver our programs offshore. We offer seven programs in China, and are the first Australian vocational training provider in history to offer programs in South Korea. Around 1800 students are enrolled in our International Partnerships programs .

Opening the doors to university qualifications
For those students who want a university degree, we have more than 120 pathways to universities in place.
More students are enrolled at Southbank Institute as a pathway to further study than at any other vocational training provider in Queensland. For those students who want a university degree, an increasing number of our programs offer a direct pathway to university. While some of our diploma and advanced diploma programs allow students to enter university degree programs, others allow students to enrol in a dual award program, completing a Southbank Institute qualification and then progressing on to university to gain a bachelor degree. This enables students to earn two qualifications a practical diploma and a more theoretical bachelor degree in the three years it would normally take to earn the bachelor degree alone. Pathways to universities offer a cost-saving option for students who want a university degree. For instance, a Vietnamese student who wants an Australian university degree will the following options: 1) Study in Australia Via pathway Diploma: 1 year** Bachelor: 2 years Total: 3 years University only Foundation: 1 year* Bachelor: 3 years Total: 4 years 2) Study in Vietnam Diploma in Vietnam: 2 years** Bachelor in Australia: 2 years Total: 4 years Southbank Institutes partnerships with Vietnamese universities offer students an opportunity to study our programs in Vietnam. The programs will be delivered in the exact same way it would be in Australia. Students are aware with widely recognised Southbank qualifications and can articulate to study bachelors degrees with different universities in Australia. Southbank Institute offers a wide range of programs in partnerships including Information Technology, Management, Marketing, Hospitality, Tourism, Graphic Design etc.

Instead of spending 4 years to study a bachelors degree, the student may want to study a diploma in 1 year and articulate to university with credit. The total amount of time for a bachelors degree, in this case, is only 3 years. ________________________ * depending
