Natasha Halseth Bosch Security Systems, Inc. HR Administrator (STNA/HRL1-BUV) 12000 Portland Ave. S. Burnsville, Minnesota 55337 Dear Mrs. Natasha Halseth, I am interested in applying for the Electrical Engineering Intern position. I am an electrical engineering major at the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota, and learned about this opportunity through the Universitys employment portal Goldpass. From the beginning of my college career, I have been involved with undergraduate research and rigorous academic work to prepare me for a career in engineering. I want the opportunity to expand my technical skills by working at Bosch Security Systems. I want to get hands-on experience designing and testing hardware and software and helping with research and manufacturing support. I want to be able to implement my engineering knowledge in a practical environment under supervision and support of professional engineers and help the Critical Communication Systems accomplish their goals. I want to be part of an organization with a challenging and motivating environment and that is primarily why I am choosing to apply to work for Bosch. I have always been involved in science and engineering doing projects and research. During school, my biggest project was a research testing honey as an antibiotic, which won the Egypt Science Fair and qualified me to go to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2009 senior year of high school. In college I continued to conduct research. Having worked in university research labs for three years, I have gained a strong detail oriented analytical methods to try to solve problems, such as trying to find ways to use a spectrophotometer to observe the colors of butterflies without destroying the structure of the scales. I have learned to use scanning and tunneling electron microscope and learned Atomic Force microscopy for my research project trying to mechanically characterize grapheme and CNT wafers. During my mask design process, I programmed the ICED program to do all the designs for me which impressed everyone in the nanofabrication center with my mentor commenting on my ability to learn quickly and exceed expectations. I undergo summer Electrical Engineering training in an engineering systems consultation department where I helped design fire alarm, data and security systems after reading a lot about design specifications and safety civil requirements. I welcome the opportunity to expand my technical skills by working at an engineering company and actually implement the engineering methods to solve problems, innovate and create solutions. I look forward to learn more from my fellow and managing engineers and implement knowledge on-site. I have excellent communication skills, having worked as a weekly opinion columnist in the on-campus newspapers last year. I was employed on-campus at a pool and bowling and because of my excellent problem solving and customer service skills, I was promoted to a Game-room Student Manager. Writing reports, sending emails, making contacts and keeping good relations are all skills I learned. In addition, I have strong leadership skills being very involved in student groups. I have attended the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society Engineering Futures Sessions workshops to enrich my leadership and professional skills. I have attended the Tau Kappa Epsilon Regional Leadership Conference 2011 and was selected to receive a scholarship to attend Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity Leadership Academy summer 2011 (the only one selected to attend the academy from my chapter).

I believe I would be an excellent fit for the Electrical Engineering Internship Position and I look forward to my phone interview to further discuss my interests and qualifications for the position. I am also open for the Loudspeaker Engineering Internship in the Prosound department if you see me a better fit for that position. I am willing to start working as soon as I can arrange to work 20 hours a week while still in school and will be available to work 40 hours per week as soon as my academic summer break starts in mid-May. I would like to thank you for your time and consideration. If you have any further questions, I can be reached at (612) 227-4243 or by email at abugh005@umn.edu.
