Professional Development Workshop

Using the Blackboard LMS to Build an Online Class Section

Pre-Workshop Requirements: Request a blank Learning Management System (LMS) section for training purposes. The blank section will be used for participants to begin the design of an online class section which will be available for them to copy and use with their students in an upcoming term. Prior to beginning the workshop, decide which course you would like to build an online resource to support, and make sure your actual course materials (i.e. syllabi, course handouts, videos, images) are readily accessible in electronic file format for use during the workshop. For online workshop participants, the instructor will need to be enrolled as a "section designer" to be allowed access to the section for assessment purposes only. Participants will also be enrolled in the workshop class section setup within the LMS for instructional purposes. The workshop is designed to be "hands on" requiring participants to navigate in the LMS throughout the training.
