Objectives: Students will work as partners and individually to perform continuous levels of activity through different apprentices. Students will learn that through story-telling and creative thinking, physical activity can be achieved. Students will demonstrate accuracy in performing all activities in the obstacle course at 80% mastery

Materials/Equipment Needed: Drawings of log cabin, Indian boy, Indian girl, pilgrims, corn, and a tipi Cones Four jump ropes Pads Hula Hoops

Activity Lesson Name: Thanksgiving Hunt Procedures Introductory Activity: Ask students about the story Little Red Riding Hood. Ask what some of her traveling challenges might have been walking through the forest. Divide students into teams of 5-6 students per team Class will be set up as a forest obstacle Warm-ups will be to jog for 2 minutes around the outside of the obstacle course Activity Description: Students will be paired into 5 teams of 5-6 students Each team will proceed through the obstacle trail which will be demonstrated to the class during the warm up activity At the end of the trail students are to select one of the six pictures located face-down on the ground without looking at the picture. They then take this picture to their team where it can then be flipped over and it will be stored. Time 2 min for warm-up

4 min to Explain the rules

If the team already has that picture, the student needs to go straight back to the end of the trail and select a different picture. The first team to find all 6 pictures is the winning team Learning Lesson Activity: This activity will consist of 5 teams of 5-6 students Teams will line up at the starting point; the first student will run through the first part of the obstacle (a windy path made of cones that is fifteen feet long) The student will then proceed through the remainder of the obstacle: Hopping while keeping both feet together from hoop to hoop for five hops (represent climbing mountains) Jumping over jump ropes (representing a stream or a river) Log rolling over two gym pads (representing a fall) And lastly, picking up a picture the team has not already found The next student in line will go through the obstacle as soon as the student in front of him/her is finished going through completely Each team must collect all six pictures to complete the race The rules are: Work together as a team, encourage one another Stay in bounds on all the different obstacles, or you will be sent to the back of your line to try again Be aware of your personal space Collect all six pictures and sit as a team so the teacher knows you have completed the race Closing Activity: Students will walk one lap around the outside of the obstacle as a cool down before being excused to line up Reference: www.peuniverse.com
