Welcome to Seoul International School Mr. Mueller 4B

School Year 2012-2013

Dear Parents, I would like to wish you all a very warm welcome to the school year. I am excited about beginning this year that I will share with you and your child. On Wednesday, August 24th at our Parent Night Open House I will be talking in detail about curriculum, homework, special projects, field trips, etc. Since that is a several days away, I have noted some of the classroom procedures below to help get us started.

About Me...

This is my second year teaching at SIS. Before being hired at SIS I spent the last two years teaching 4th grade at The American School of Bangkok in Thailand. I received my Bachelors of Education degree from Winona State University in Minnesota in the fall of 2008. I am currently earning my Masters degree in International Teaching.

SCHOOL DAY

The SIS school day begins at 8:00 AM and dismissal is at 3:00 PM. Children may enter the building at 7:45 and come to the classroom. If your child comes to school after 8:00 AM, he or she should report to the Elementary Office and a tardy will be reported for the day. Lunch and recess run 10:45-11:45. Afternoon recess runs 1:05-1:35, and a snack break will follow in the classroom, so please pack a healthy snack and drink each day for your child. The children will need both indoor and outdoor shoes. Starting this year Grade 4 will have Specials the final block of the day. In 4B, Day 1 is Music, Day 2 is Library, Day 3 is Art, Day 4 is Computer, and Day 5 is PE (please send suitable gym shoes on that day).

Within the first few weeks of school, 4B should designate a room parent for the class. This person (or team of people) is invaluable for making our school year run smoothly. Please consider volunteering for this job. In addition, we often need volunteers throughout the year to help with projects or field trips. I will check with you at the Open House to see which parents are available to help with these events.

CLASSROOM VOLUNTEERS

Also, your child will be expected to read for 30 minutes each night in addition to the other homework. If your child is consistently unable to complete the homework, please contact me so I might discuss any issues they might be having.
