*Reflection on this weekly log (include feedback from coach and mentor): From Dr. Peel: Dr. Peel offered some suggestions on how to conduct the post-observation conference with Teacher X. I told him that my main concern with her at this time is effective use of transition time. Since this was already addressed before with her, I may need to frame my question this way Help me understand why you have not addressed this concern yet. Other questions that I may ask her include How do you know that students were engaged? What is the percentage of your students that was engaged? Help me understand why Are there some things that need to be changed to improve our scores? On facilitative leadership: Dr. Peel gave the following feedback Develop others, not just those who do the work wellEncourage teachers to involve students in making decisions. Frame questions such as, This is our result. What do we do about it? On product vs. process: Another great insight from Dr. Peel: Sometimes the product is not as important as the process. On Doing Groupwork: As a worker, I always try my very best in anything that I do. If there is a deadline and I know I really dont have much time to complete my work, I do not stop until I have completed it and I am satisfied with it. As part of group dynamics, I need to learn to know the work habits of my teammates in order for us to have good working relationships. Once that is established, I need to adjust my work habits to meet halfway with the others On the other hand, should I expect the others to adjust, too? What I am actually saying here is this: All members of the team should meet halfway in order for the work to progress. In doing groupwork, I know that its NOT all about me; but its not all about them either. Actually, it should be ALL about US. Let me consider this, too: Sometimes, however, if I already have an experience working with someone, and I know that he/she maybe the reason of our groupwork not to be completed satisfactorily, I tend not to wait for him/her. Is this a good or bad thing? Hmmm What Now? As a school leader -- FIRST: it is necessary that I always consider the group dynamics of my teachers; and SECOND, I will encourage them to resolve every issue/concern they have with each other before they come to me. That is the professional way of doing things!
