No. 734370) Version 1.02 Download http://downloads.leica-geosystems.com/downloads/index.htm These Release Notes contain important information about firmware version 1.31. This firmware version 1.31 can be loaded onto all models of both TPS1200 and GPS1200 instruments. This firmware can be loaded onto any instrument regardless of any maintenance contract it is not necessary to have purchased a maintenance contract to use this firmware. Also now available are new versions for all loadable applications Stakeout, Reference Line, Determine Coordinate System, COGO, Sets of Angles Traverse and RoadRunner. Please ensure to , also load and use the new applications. Please do take your time to read these Release Notes. They contain information about the new functionality within the firmware and loadable applications, how to obtain and load the firmware and loadable applications onto the instruments and a summary of all the latest individual firmware components.
Auto Points
Additional Auto Logging Functionality The popular auto points functionality has been improved for both TPS and GPS instruments with the addition of extra methods for collecting auto logged points. STOP & GO METHOD It is now possible to collect auto points by simply holding the antenna or reflector still (within a defined range) for a defined period of time. This means that by using this method, an auto logged point can be measured by simply holding the antenna or reflector still when the point to be surveyed is found. Choose the Stop & Go method in the SURVEY Configuration panel, Auto Points page view.
1/15
Set Log Auto Pts to Stop & Go. It is then possible to define the Stop Position this is the distance by which the antenna or reflector must be stationary and the Stop Time this is the time for which the antenna or reflector must be stationary. USER DECIDES This method allows the user to decide when an auto logged point should be stored by pressing the F3(OCUPY) button (for the GPS instrument) or the F3(REC) button (for the TPS instrument). This may by particularly useful where it is necessary to collect auto logged points (and offset points) to a higher level of accuracy than may be possible with the other methods. Note also, the F3(OCUPY) button (for the GPS instrument) or the F3(REC) button (for the TPS instrument) is now also available in the SURVEY screen, Auto page view regardless of which auto logged method is being used. This allows auto logged points to be measured at any time in addition to the chosen method.
Previously open lines & areas closed when new line/area created For both TPS and GPS instruments, when a new line or area is created, then all previously open lines and/or areas are automatically closed. If it is needed to have 2 or more lines and/or areas open, then the additional lines and/or areas need to be opened after opening the new line/area
Even faster line and area surveying The following Hot Key and USER menu options have been added in order to speed up line and area surveying for both GPS and TPS instruments. Remember

Data Export
Export data from a job on the instrument to the Data or GSI directory When exporting data from a job it is now possible to choose to export data in a file to the Data or GSI directory on the CF card for both GPS and TPS instruments. Previously it was only possible to export files to the Data directory. If it is needed to transfer data to a TPS1100 instrument, then it is necessary to export the data to the GSI directory.

Data Import
Importing points using space as a delimiter For both GPS and TPS instruments, the import of points has been improved such that it is now possible to import points, which are delimited by more than one space. If this is needed, then set the Multi Spaces option in the IMPORT Define ASCII Import screen (which is accessed using F2(CONF) from the IMPORT ASCII/GSI Data to Job screen) to Yes. Multiplying easting values by -1 For both GPS and TPS instruments, it is now possible to multiply the imported easting coordinate by 1. This may be useful for left-handed coordinate systems such as found in Denmark. If this is needed, then set the Easting option in the IMPORT Define Ht Type & Easting Import screen (which is accessed using shift F2(HTS) from the IMPORT ASCII/GSI Data to Job screen) to Multiply By -1.
GPS Configuration
Configuring to beep when a point is stored It is now possible to configure if the GPS instrument should beep when a point is being measured and the point occupation is ended (either the user presses

The number of digits which can now be used for GSM or modem stations is increased to 20 digits It is now possible to enter up to 20 digits for the GSM or modem station to be dialled on the GPS instrument. This means CDMA modems can now be used.
TPS Configuration
Electronic level as start up panel It is now possible to configure that the Electronic Level screen appears as the start up screen after turning on the TPS instrument. This can be configured in the CONFIGURE Start Up & Power Down screen.
Extended OWI and GeoCom options It is now easily possible to see if a GPS instrument has the Extended OWI option activated, or if a TPS instrument has the Robotics GeoCom option. Simply

General Behaviour
Alpha / Numeric search fields remembered On the TPS instrument, the first character used within search fields is remembered. For example, when searching for a code, if an alpha character is the first character which was used to search for a code when the search field was closed, then an alpha character will be used the next time the search field is used to search for a code Reduced time to search for codes The time taken to search for codes is drastically improved it is now typically less than one second for a list of 1000 codes.
RoadRunner
It is now possible to compute a OneStep and TwoStep transformation using only one point where the coordinates of the local point are known only in position.

Upload from the CF card or use LGO and serial transfer All firmware and loadable applications can be loaded to the instruments either directly from the CF card inserted into the instrument, or using a serial cable and LGO. The procedures described below are the same for both the TPS and GPS instruments. We recommend to use a CF card since this is quicker and easier, but does require the use of a CF card reader. As always, we recommend to only use Leica CF cards. The upload process using LGO can take some time.
Copy the files to the CF card 1. 2. Format the CF card on a System 1200 instrument. Insert the CF card into your PC or CF card reader and copy the necessary files to be uploaded to the instrument to the System directory of the CF card. This can be done with Windows Explorer, LGO or any other suitable PC software.
