Cucification Def:

to kill someone by tying or nailing the person to a cross To crucify is also to criticize someone or something severely: His last words p.1605 NLT

The 4 miraculous events on the cross (Matthew 27:52-53) 1.Darkness There is no natural reason for this darkness. Jesus died during the Feast of Passover. [This was a very important holy holiday for the Jews. They remembered the time when God rescued them from Egypt.] The Feast of Passover always happened at the time of the full moon. An eclipse cannot happen at full moon. [An eclipse is a rare event when the moon hides the light from the sun.] Also, an eclipse would not last for three hours. There had been darkness on the earth before. When God punished Pharaoh there had been darkness. It is a sign of Gods punishment. God shows us that we have done wrong.

He sometimes uses physical signs to do this. (Joel 2:30,32, Amos 5:18, Revelation 6:12-17). And on the *cross, Jesus was suffering the punishment for our *sins. Comparing how the high priest had previously only been able to pass through the curtain once a year to offer atonement for sins, Hebrews 10:19-22 explains that a new High Priest, Jesus Christ, through the sacrifice of Himself superseded this ritual for all time and gives mankind direct access to God: "Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh), and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water" (NRSV). The lesson for us is that, following heartfelt repentance, we can "come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16). Because of Christ's sacrifice, we enjoy direct access to the throne of our merciful, loving Creator. http://www.ucg.org/booklet/jesus-christ-real-story/jesus-christ-wisdom-god/tearing-templeveil

3.An earthquake- POWER

12

I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold,[a] there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon[b] became like blood. 13 And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. 14 Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. 15 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders,[c] the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, 16 and said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?
