new and revitalized expressions of popular devotion: the Via Crucis, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the celebration of our patron saint, King Louis of France, and so on. Fr. Andres offers his gentle and compassionate earthinessalways with a great twist of humor. Frs. Michael and Larry continue to feed and inspire through their scholarship and deep reflection. And our newest friar, Brother Chris is blossoming as retreat center director with his gifts of teaching and hospitality. But the friars, of course, represent only one aspect of leadership in the Parish and Mission. Our parish family is bursting with gifted leaders in terms of our dedicated and capable Parish Staff, our wonderful parish schoolOld Mission Montessori, and through the abundance of riches in our more than 60 parish ministries. And we are a community of communities as well, benefitting from the richness of so many groups who contribute both to the diversity and unity of our parish/ Mission family, including the English-speaking communities, Hispanics, Filipinos, Samoans, Guamanians, military families, youth, retirees, snow birds. well, just everyone. It will be the job of the friars to continue to identify, encourage, and animate lay leadership led by the Spirit. In the coming years, it will be the challenge and task of all parish leaders to continue to pray for and dedicate themselves to being and becoming more authentically the welcoming Presence of Jesus Christ in the North County. We are called to this one mission at the Mission. For my part, I am so happy and proud to have been able to play my part in this process. Thank you for your welcome, your friendship, your support, and your forgiving patience with my shortcomings and limitations. You are in my heart and prayers. Always. God bless, Fr. Chuck PS: Finally, in a separate matter, I am pleased to announce that the Parish has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Diocese to purchase a parcel of three acres of land immediately adjacent to us. This purchase will secure present uses and provide us with an invaluable buffer zone with any future neighbors. Kudos to Allen Hartman, our former Business Manager for his great work!
