How Imam Al-Ghazaly did described intellectual knowledge?

Interm of word,Intellectual knowledge are the combination of two words which is firstly intellectual and secondly knowledge. For the first word, intellect is a matter which related with mind. When something come into mind, it would be processed which its being called process of thingking which is resulted producing of understanding. Therefore, when the word of intellectual is combined with the word of knowledge, it is meant the way of understanding about knowlegde.

Imam Al-Ghazaly did described intellectual knowledge by dividing into several parts. Firstly is sensory knowledge. This kind of knowledge is related with perceiving something by senses. As we know, senses are eye, ear, hand, mouth and leg. Humans are able to grasp knowledge by sense. It had been started since born. But then, it is gradually developed with growing up of childs age. This is because, after age to age, they had been throughed in some experiences which their sensory knowledge gradually be matured.

However, Imam Al-Ghazaly did not stopped at that part of knowledge. But then he also included rational knowledge as a complimenting to sensory knowledge. This kind of knowledge deal with logic. It is able to determine certainty of knowlegde. Some knowlegdes which are perceived by sense is not enough. This is because senses just give statical or shallow knowlegde which is might be true or not. However, it can be determined if rational knowlegde come together by using logic. Nowadays in modern era, logic would be achieved by some instruments depending on perceived issue. For instance, if sensory knowledge is used to perceive a size of sun, it would likely perceive it is small!!. But that perceive is invalid if rational

knowledge is used by using telescope and rationality come later by finding out that a size of sun is big.

After time past, Imam Al-Ghazaly recognized a revelation of god which is ultimate knowlegde. That revelation contain unseen knowledge which rational knowlegde cannot examine and perceive it. The examples of unseen knowledges are soul, the day of jugdment, hell, paradise and so on. But then, those knowlegdges are limited. As Allah s.w.t said in surah Al-israa: 85. They ask Thee concerning the spirit (of inspiration). say: "The spirit (cometh) by command of My Lord: of knowledge it is only a Little that is communicated to you, (o men!)". That revelation also give sense of realization for human kind where it is produced control on them to be humble, good and so on.

2. How did Imam al-Ghazaly perceived the sense?

Imam al-Ghazaly viewed the sense of touch is a fundamental way to perceive the feel. Sense of touch is hand. By sense of touch, human being can feel cold, heat, rough and so on. But, by using sense of touch alone, human being are not able to perceive colour and sound. As far as touch concern, these have no reality.

It is meant that sense of touch cannot give absolute sense if it be used alone. Therefore, another senses should be enclosed with a sense of touch. Firstly is sense of sight( According Imam Al-Ghazaly which was narrated in video). Sense of sight allow human being to perceive colours and shapes. Sight is a most reaching of all senses.

After that, secondly is sense of hearing. This kind of sense is allow human being to hear sound of various kind and taste. When those senses are enclosed together, all senses are present.

The ability of those senses are gradually developed. This is because, after age to age, they had been throughed in some experiences which their sensory knowledge gradually be matured. According Imam al-Ghazaly, when human being are about 7 years old, a part of discerment is created in them. This new step in human beings development which it is permit them to understand more than justthe world of senses.
