Beneath the waves of the Swollen Ocean, a race of crablike humans toiled in slavery for a thousand years. Kepitings, or crabmen, are as their name implies, humanoid creatures hose features resemble those of crustaceans. Kepitings range from 4 to about 5 feet tall, but are usually very wide and stocky. Their bodies resemble shelled hemispheres, the sides of which taper into spines. The upper halves of their shells are usually colored brown or green, but turn blue during mating seasons. Instead of humanoid hands, long, many jointed limbs protrude from gaps beneath their spines. They end in claws not unlike those of a crab, except that the lower pincer possesses an additional joint, not unlike a human thumb, giving the Kepiting surprising dexterity. From around the same areas as their hands protrude 3 more limbs on either side, all of which end in chitin-encased human feet. The front of their oblong bodies house 6 inch long eyestalks, which can swivel with some degree of independence. Their mouths, their most unsettling feature, lies ust beneath their eyes. Their shells display a large hole, inside of which their mouths can be seen. They appear in all respects as human mouths, but instead of teeth they posses large boney plates for grinding food. Kepitings, slow to breed and unorganized, were overwhelmed and enslaved by Sahuagin war parties 400 years before Balas arrival on Undalia. Until the sea devils encountered the

Huntsman, Kepitings were used as slave labor and had their culture and society universally crushed. When the Huntsman met the Sahuagin, they opposed his attempts to enslave their leaders. The Huntsman, using his powers over weather, defeated them and discovered the crab people, who were previously unknown to all but the most scholarly sea-elves. A vast majority of the Kepitings adopted the pirates lifestyle for themselves, but many more did not. Kepitings have been observed as adopting other cultures practices and customs at a whim and discarding them after a few years. Most find this offensive, but others view them in a more positive light, a race robbed of its soul, seeking one that will finally fit their oblong form.
