Youngsters Relish OLD WEST experience of Bidwell Bar Day

Bidwell Bar Day offers youngsters a taste of life in the old west at the Lake Oroville State Recreation Area on Saturday, May 5. Dressed as gold-rush miners, pioneers, settlers, cowboys, and even dance-hall women -- this assortment of characters at the historic old Bidwell Bar toll house will host games and activities from the 1850s for boys and girls of today. Kids learn traditional skills of yesteryear by participating in hands-on experiences such as candle-making, tin art, making corn-husk dolls, and even panning for real gold! They can try their hand at washing clothes with a wash board and a wringer and clothes lines. And the tonsorial parlor recreates great grandpas old barbershop experience of lathering up and shaving with a (safe-edged) straight razor. Mom and Dad can get married again by a travelin preacher wholl do a shot-gun wedding for a price! The old gambling card game of FARO is a popular event, and be sure to check out the history depicted in the old toll house. Everyone gathers at the stage on Wyke Island to watch an old time melodrama that is full of love and laughter. Delicious old fashioned foods and crafts are on sale and continuous live entertainment of the day enlivens the festivities from noon until 4:00 PM. Dress the kids up as cowboys and cowgirls and bring them for a day of fun at the Bidwell Canyon Recreation Unit of the lake Oroville State Recreation Area. Bidwell Bar Day is sponsored by the California Department of Parks and Recreation and is presented by Lake Oroville State Park Volunteers and the Bidwell Bar Association. To reach the festivities, follow Highway 162 (Olive Hwy.) east from Oroville approximately 8 miles, turn left onto Kelly Ridge Rd. Turn onto Arroyo Drive and follow the signs to Bidwell Canyon. FREE ADMISSION AND PARKING! Please advise the person in the entrance station that youll be attending the celebration. This event is accessible to persons with disabilities. If you are in need of a specific accommodation or desire additional information please phone the Lake Oroville Visitor Center at (530) 538-2219.

80th Anniversary Celebration Of Historical Oroville Museum

Little did Florence Danforth Boyle, the founder of what is now known as the Pioneer Memorial Museum, expect that the humble beginnings of her efforts which were inspired by her fathers passion for history, would grow into nearly 6000 square feet of displays chronicling and memorializing the early pioneers who settled in Oroville and Butte County. The City of Oroville Docents invites the public to a special anniversary celebration that will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012, from Noon until 4:00 P.M. with a proclamation presented by California State Assemblyman Dan Logue and the rededication of the Museum by Oroville Vice Mayor Thil Chan Wilcox at 11:30 A.M.. Admission to the celebration is free and will include costumed docents providing tours, live entertainment by the Old Time Fiddlers, and refreshments prepared and served by the Las Plumas Culinary Class. The Pioneer Memorial Museum is located at 2332 Montgomery Street in the Historical Downtown district. When the museum first opened it was a modest structure of 600 square feet and was built on the site of Orovilles first sawmill. Designed to look like a pioneers cabin, the building was constructed from hand made brick and rough hewn timbers. The face of the building was covered with rock quarried from the winter quarters of the Toto Tribe. The entry way is paved with marble stones from the early downtown Oroville sidewalks. From the Montgomery Street entrance the museum retains its quaint look, however once inside visitors will discover multiple displays on two levels. In 1949, Jess Sank provided a generous financial gift to the museum in memory of his late wife, Cornelia Lott-Sank, which enabled the first expansion to the modest museum. A few years later Mrs. Minnie Brazelton-Fahey of Garden Ranch provided a bequest in memory of her Pioneer family which allowed the completion of the basement to provide additional space for the ever-growing collection of historical artifacts. The museum was officially dedicated in memory of the Pioneers of California with California James Sunny Jim Rolph, the Boyle Family, and other dignitaries in attendance on, May 12, 1932, as the Pioneer Relics House. The ceremony was coordinated by the Grand Officers of the Native Sons of the Golden West with the dedication stone a gift of Frank and Florence Boyle. The museum was operated by the Native Sons and Daughters of the Golden West, Oroville Parlor until 1999 when it was deeded to the City of Oroville. The City has continued to expand and improve the museum which also contains many one of-a-kind artifacts. Additional information about the event may be obtained by calling the City of Oroville Parks and Trees Department at (530) 538-2415.

Recycling Prole Our friend the Worm

Collectively they recycle more greenwaste and food waste than all recycling programs in the country combined. They started recycling eons before sustainability was fashionable. They work for free and are highly productive and prolific. They are mans best friend. (Sorry Fido) They are worms. The role that worms play in the breakdown of organic materials was first documented by Charles Darwin in 1881. However it was not until later in the 20th century that worms contribution to curbing the buildup of greenwaste and enhancing soil composition was fully realized. Vermicompost is a nutrient rich fertilizer that has been shown to suppress disease in crop plants. Vermicompost is probiotic, and stimulates the growth of microorganisms, unlike traditional pesticides, which are antibiotic and inhibit such growth. Vermicompost works to create a stronger plant whereas pesticides just kill the pathogen. Today, vermicomposting has become a highly utilized means to process greenwaste from municipal curbside greenwaste programs and create a superior soil amendment that is in high demand, particularly in agricultural areas such as Butte County. They also are effective in small backyard composting and under-the-kitchen-sink food waste composters. If you are interested in starting your own vermicomposting project, there are a number if resources available to help you get started. Business SpotlightLorna Bone at Scheer Memorial Chapel

Lorna Bone is probably the first person you will see when walking into Scheer Memorial Chapel. Lorna has been part of the Oroville community for over 39 years and has worked at Scheer for the last 10 years. She enjoys what her job as Administrative Assistant entails, and while some people may view it as a difficult job, Lorna sees it as an opportunity to reconnect with and comfort many long-time friends and relatives while providing necessary services for all involved. Scheer Memorial Chapel has been a part of the Oroville community for over 50 years. The Cosgrove family purchased the mortuary from its original founders in 1965. They are a fullservice mortuary, offering traditional funerals to direct cremations. Scheers sister mortuary, Rose Chapel Mortuary and Crematory in Paradise, handles all of our cremations on site. Scheer Memorial Chapel honors the familys choice of cemeteries, and respects and welcomes all faiths and cultures. Scheer Memorial Chapel offers pre-arranged funerals so as to lessen the burden on loved ones and to ease ones own mind, knowing that your wishes will be carried out to your specifications. Scheer will waive the on-duty mortuary coroner fee, if you choose Scheer to handle the funeral arrangements. To contact Lorna, you may call her at Scheer at 533-5255 or email her at lornabone@gmail.com Please feel free to call the mortuary with any questions you may have and to receive a free quote.

Bring a group to the California Beach Boys Concert for even more fun, fun, fun!
Surfs up! Join the fun Saturday, May 5th at the Paradise Performing Arts Center, as Mike Amarals California Beach Boys Tribute Band plays classic Beach Boy favorites. Sponsored by Riebes auto parts, the goal is to bring great music to The Paradise & Chico area for all to enjoy and according to show producer John Zurflueh, you will enjoy it. I first heard the group at a winery last year and being a product of the 60s I was very impressed. Beach Boy music is complex, but Mike and his group have been working very hard for seven years to perfect the harmonies. I really think they have it down and provide a very entertaining show with some surprises along the way. Zurflueh is also encouraging groups to come to the show. With a group of 20 or more you receive discounted tickets, reserved seating and a public thank you at the concert. It really makes it a lot more fun when you come with your friends. The California Beach Boys Tribute Band is in their 7th year of playing this iconic surf music. Many of the six member band played on the same stages with some of the top surf bands, including the original Beach Boys. Tickets are available at The Comeback Diner, Paradise Ridge Chamber of Commerce, Lyon Books and Music Connection in Chico and Riebes stores in Chico, Oroville and Paradise. For details and to order tickets online, go to www.starbrightshows.com. Doors & bar open at 5:30PM with show time from 7-9PM. For group sales information call Starbright Productions at (530) 273-5486.

Fluoride Varnish Tooth Protector/Cavity Fighter!

Fluoride is held in high regard by the dental community as an important mineral that strengthens tooth enamel, thereby helping to prevent tooth decay. Fluoride varnish is a thin coating of fluoride that is applied to the tooth surface. Fluoride varnish can retard, arrest, and reverse the process of cavity formation. Unfortunately, we see cavity formation that is well advanced by the age of three. Tooth decay is the most common disease of childhood (5 times more common than asthma, 7 times more common than seasonal allergies). Not only does tooth decay cause pain and infection, but it can also interfere with learning by distracting a childs focus, or causing frequent absences from school. Fluoride varnish application is one of the ways to prevent this chronic childhood disease. The Butte County Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) Tooth Fairy, Aimee Myles, says that inn addition to fluoride varnish, daily brushing, starting regular dental visits at age 1 and limiting sugar in a childs diet, can prevent tooth decay and keep children out of the operating room. Tooth decay is 100% preventable. The advantages of fluoride varnish are: Easy to apply Safe and well tolerated by infants, young children, and individuals with special needs Inexpensive Can be applied in a dental or medical office In California, the application of fluoride varnish can be done in a variety of settings from the dentist to the pediatricians office. Laura Scudder, Registered Dental Hygienist and staff of the Butte County Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) program conduct the trainings. Pediatricians are in the unique position to have a positive impact on a childs oral health because they see children earlier and more frequently than dentists. Fluoride Varnish can be a great asset in protecting childrens teeth from tooth decay. In an effort to promote healthy teeth in children, E-Center Head Start has teamed up with Butte County Public Healths Child Health and Disability Prevention Program (CHDP) to address the prevention efforts. A pilot program in which fluoride varnish is applied to children at Head Start preschools throughout Butte County began in February. Rosedale (Chico) and Table Mountain (Oroville) Head Start sites were the first two sites to participate. In addition to children receiving the fluoride varnish, First 5 Butte County provided each child with a colorful oral health kit containing all the tools necessary to have healthy teeth. E-Center has plans to pilot two more Butte County sites in the near future. Butte County CHDP and Women, Infants and Children (WIC) have teamed up to provide oral health education and Fluoride Varnish to WIC clients and their children in Chico and Oroville. In March, Laura Scudder, R.D.H., began teaching good oral health habits to WIC clients and offering fluoride varnish to any WIC client with a child who attends the class. The clients receive education and their children receive a fluoride varnish application, along with a First 5 Butte County oral health kit containing all the tools necessary to have healthy teeth. Chico water is not fluoridated; Butte County Public Health clinic in Chico has trained staff in fluoride varnish application. Parents and caregivers can make an appointment for their children age 5 and younger to receive an application of fluoride varnish by calling the clinic at 8912732.

Vintage Tractor Days 2012 Offers Unique New Attractions

The biggest vintage agricultural event in the North state, Vintage Tractor Days, has added two fascinating new attractions to its line-up of tractor games, parades, driver competitions, and hay rides. For 2012, the Oregon House-based event will not only have an estimated 200 vintage tractors participating, but it will also offer dancing tractors and a new historical display of major inventions in agricultural machinery. Taking place Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6 at 9594 Yuba Ranch Way in Oregon House, VTD is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the local Alcouffe Community Center, and each yearthis is the 8th Annual eventthe show grows by about 20% in both exhibitors and spectators. Dancing tractors? Thats right, a team of expert drivers, calling themselves the Exhibitionists, will perform choreographed moves and patterns to square dance and quadrille tunes including John Deere Green, Grandpa, and International Harvester. This not-to-be-missed event is scheduled for 4:00 pm on Saturday, right before the drawing of the winning ticket for the now famous Pink Tractor which has raised some $20,000 to be shared 5050 between the American Cancer Society innovation. This will be a golden opportunity for families to learn history together, and a must-see for fourth and fifth graders as well as their teachers in the Social Science curriculum. It shows how we got from horse farming to mechanized farming which in turn made California a world class exporter in food products. The Tour will go from the scythe, reaper, and plow, through to Hay Press and Seed Cleaners, and to the introduction of the tractor and the binders and combines of the 20th century. Here is a chance to expand your knowledge, have fun, celebrate our past, and take your family on a wholesome, inexpensive adventure. A special, unique happening in Oregon House, May 5 and 6 Vintage Tractor Days! Location: Eventful Acres farm, 9454 Yuba Ranch Way, Oregon House, CA 95962. Information: Exhibitors call 530-6920919; sponsors, vendors, and spectators call 530-692-0705 or visit www.alcouffecenter.org . Event Details: Entrance is free; suggested parking donation, including shuttle service, is $5. All proceeds benefit the Alcouffe Community Center.

and the Community Center. Vintage Tractor Days has always included an educational element, and places a strong focus on the importance of preserving and teaching the next generation about Californias agricultural heritage. For 2012, this educational component really comes into its own with the self-guided Tour of Farm Inventions. This important display will feature 13 stations, each highlighting an invention which resulted in substantially increased agricultural production. A great deal of research, acquisition, and development has gone into the presentation of the Inventions Tour. Each station will have a brief written explanation of the equipment on display which demonstrates a specific agricultural

Capital Insurance Group and CIG Titus & Associates Insurance Center Host 1st Annual Community Safety Saturday
Capital Insurance Group (CIG) Community Safety Saturday, a family-friendly free safety event, will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This important not-to-be-missed safety event for the whole family will take place at the Walmart parking lot, 2044 Forest Avenue, in Chico, California, and will feature many safety demonstrations. Tim Titus, President of CIG Titus & Associates, together with The Protector Network, CIG Insurances complementary members-only organization offering safety and security benefits, will team up with the exemplary people and organizations listed above to educate the community on safety. One of the important features of the event is the Child Safety/Booster Seat inspections. As of January 1, 2012, California Law places restrictions on where and how a child may occupy a vehicle, based on the childs age, weight, and height. According to the California Highway Patrol, children are at greater risk when riding in the front seat, and a childs injury risk is reduced 33% when moved from the front seat to the back seat. We believe it is important to give back to our community, which is the main philosophy of CIG Titus & Associates and a philosophy we have been practicing since 1925. We are committed to helping our clients and our community to stay safe. Our CIG Community Safety Saturday event is a fun-filled event and is a great opportunity for us to make sure important child, family, and community safety information is distributed and demonstrated. It is vital that we all be vigilant and a step ahead to protect those we love most, said Tim Titus, President of CIG Titus & Associates. Keith Lynch, Director at CIG Titus & Associates, remarks, As a new father, I know the importance of child-safety issues. From searching for car safety seats to screening daycare providers, I am dedicated to keeping my child safe, no matter what! Now more than ever, it is important to arm ourselves with information. Our CIG Community Safety Saturday event gives us the opportunity to help provide people with peace of mind and to protect what they hold most dear. If we help one person have a better nights sleep knowing his or her family is safe and secure our efforts to build a safer community will be a success. CIGs Community Safety Saturday will feature the following activities: The KlaasKids Foundation will be hosting the KlaasKids Print-A-Thon, which provides Digital Photo ID & Fingerprint Kits for every child. Parents receive a free DNA Collection Kit, child-safety tips, and a 9-point plan on what to do if your child disappears. The Butte County Public Health Department - California Office of Traffic Safety, and California Highway Patrol will operate a Child Safety/Booster Seat inspection station. Chico Fire Department will bring a fire engine for tours. They will also have a prevention education table on emergency preparedness for families and a demonstration on putting together a 72-hour emergency supply kit. They will have a raffle to win a mini-emergency supply kit, and winners need not be present to win. CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire will also bring a fire engine, plus fire and life safety materials. The public can tour the fire engine and see live demonstrations of the specialized equipment used during a traffic accident. The Butte County Sheriffs Team of Active Retired Seniors (STARS) will provide safety information and display Barney, the Sheriffs Talking Car. The Butte County Sheriffs Search and Rescue team will demonstrate search-dog work and technical rope rescues, and they will bring several other rescue vehicles, including their Mobile Command Unit. The California Department of Boating and Waterways will be encouraging clean and safe boating practices through educational material and by providing the event with life jackets. American Red Cross of Northeastern California will provide information about learning CPR and first aid, training for babysitters, pet first aid, various disaster services, and personal emergency-preparedness training, and they will bring an emergency response vehicle. 103.5 Hit Country The Blaze radio will be there with a DJ appearance, music, and prize giveaways. In addition to educational and safety opportunities during CIGs Community Safety Saturday, there will be a raffle for items at the end of the event. The Grand Prizes will be a $250 and $100 Chico Shell Gas Cards. There will also be drawing for a Solar Safety Flashlight, Bluetooth Headset, Emergency Radio, StoveTop FireStop devices, and an Emergency Roadside Kit. Free recyclable tote bags with safety coloring books and crayons, and other giveaways, will be distributed while supplies last, and there will be fun games and food available. Sandie Borthwick, Marketing Manager for CIG, remarks, We are very proud to partner with community safety-oriented Public Services and CIG Titus & Associates. CIGs Community Safety Saturday was born from our concern and commitment to keep children and families safe. For more information about the event, please go to www.CIGinsurance.com

Grand-scale Production of Oklahoma! Staged May 2-6 in CSU, Chicos Laxson Auditorium
CSU, Chicos Department of Theatre presents a grand-scale, pull-out-all-thestops production of the 2012 Spring Musical, Rodgers and Hammersteins Oklahoma! Oklahoma! celebrates CSU, Chicos 125th anniversary and the schools timehonored tradition of hosting lavish, grandscale musicals every spring. This epic musical has it all romantic story-line, show-stopping dance numbers, stunning sets and costumes, orchestra, and a cast made up of Chico States most talented student performers. Big as all outdoors, this golden-age musical will sing its way into your heart with such classic songs as Oh What a Beautiful Mornin, Oklahoma, and Surrey with the Fringe on Top. Staged May 2-5 at 7:30 p.m. and May 6 at 2 p.m. in Laxson Auditorium, Oklahoma! will give both our actors and audiences the experience of a true example of an American golden age musical while also giving them the look and feel of a Hollywood movie musical, said director Michael Mazur, CSU, Chico Department of Theatre faculty member. Oklahoma! tells the story of two cowboys as they follow their dreams of making their destiny in the Oklahoma territory of 1906. Each of the main characters competes with a corrupt ranch hand and traveling peddler for the women they love. Curly is a cowboy who has trouble admitting his feelings to Laurey, as she does to him. Judd, the hired hand at Laureys farm, tries to come between them. Ado Annie is torn between Will, a cowboy who has strong feelings for her, and Ali Hakim, a peddler who does not want to marry her. As the romance between Curly and Laurey unfolds, the audience learns of the rivalry between the farmers and the ranchers, and the daily struggles of the pioneers. While Curly and Laureys romance is at the center of the plot, Mazur explains that the heart of the play is about a group of people from different backgrounds coming together to form a new place. The farmers, ranchers, and merchants all have to learn to accept each others ways to form a true functioning society, he said. The need for understanding is as real today as it was then, perhaps more. Oklahoma! is contemporary and relevant to all ages today. This musical was the first collaboration of the legendary songwriting team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Together they invented the American Musical Comedy, blending singing, acting and dancing in new ways to tell interesting and uniquely American stories. People who have seen and loved the show over the years will remember why this show is so special, said Mazur. The familiar songs like People Will Say Were In Love, and I Caint Say No remind us of the golden days of the American popular songbook; plus the optimism of the story is hard to ignore. Oklahoma! was first performed on Broadway on March 31, 1943. It was an immediate box-office smash and ran for an unprecedented 2,212 performances, later enjoying award-winning revivals, national tours, foreign productions and an Academy Award-winning 1955 film adaptation. According to Wikipedia Oklahoma! epitomized the development of the book musical, a musical play where the songs and dances are fully integrated into a wellmade story with serious dramatic goals that are able to evoke genuine emotions other than laughter. In addition, Oklahoma! features musical themes, or motifs, that recur throughout the work to connect the music and story. A fifteen-minute dream ballet reflected Laureys struggle to choose between two men. A special Pulitzer Prize was awarded to Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II for Oklahoma! in the category of Special Awards And Citations Letters in 1944. Oklahoma! gave birth to the Broadway musical with ballads, belted anthems and lavish sets and costumes. When Chico States cast sings together, accompanied by a full orchestra conducted by North State Symphonys Kyle Wiley Pickett, the show will come to life in a special way, said Mazur. In addition to the amazing music, the original choreographer, Agnes Demille, built a foundation with the writers using dance as a way of expressing the characters innermost feelings. CSU, Chicos choreographer, Sheree Henning, has taken this foundation and added the perfect blend of classical ballet and musical theatre movement to re-create the feel of the original show, with the addition of a great western two-step. Henning and Mazur had previously collaborated on the tap dance spectacle, Crazy For You three years ago at Chico State, and Mazur could not wait to work with her on this classic show. The cast is made up of talented Chico State students, with Mikey Purdue and Hannah Covington Bernard as Curly and Laurey, and McKenna Perry and Chicos own Cameron Pate in the comic roles of Ado Annie and Will Parker. Mazur previously helped stage Oklahoma! four-years-ago at Chico High, and Cameron Pate was in that production. It is so great to watch our students develop from freshman year to senior year here in the Theatre program at Chico State, and this show has extra meaning since I was Cam Pates director in High School, and to see how great he is in this show really is very special to me. While Mazur thinks people from all ages will find something to love in this production, he wants to especially welcome audience members from the World War II generation because this show has special meaning to those growing up in the 1940s. I know our production will invoke for those audience members a true sense of the American Spirit, he said. Mazurs said his favorite quote from the show is, plenty of heart and plenty of hope. This show definitely has em, he said, and when you see Oklahoma! you will too. Advance tickets, at $20 premium, $16 general, $14 senior citizens, and $10 students/children, are available at the University Box Office, corner of Second Street and Normal Avenue. CROSSWORD

MOTHERS DAY

Gardening with Alex

Alexandra Heath Water, Water Everywhere
Although April showers havent nished with us yet, it wont be long before the long, hot, dry days of summer are here. Water then becomes an all-important issue with gardeners. If youve been dragging a hose around in the sun trying to make sure everything gets watered, you might want to consider a new way to waterdrip irrigation. For the past ve years, Ive used drip irrigation for my 1,400 square-foot vegetable garden and extensive herb garden, and Ive developed some tips and tricks to make a drip irrigation system easy to set-up, use and, most important, x. The rst step in drip irrigation is planning, although no plan is really complete until you actually are doing the installation since youre bound to nd some surprises. Still you want to have a pretty good idea how much mainline tubing you will need as well as how many connectors, sprinklers and/or drippers will be sufcient to cover the area to be watered. Mainline tubing that connects to the water faucet is -inch in diameter and comes in rolls up to 1,000 feet. Buy more than you think youll need. Also, a word of caution: buy tubing and connectors from the same manufacturer. Components from different manufacturers usually dont work together. Sprinklers, drippers and feeder tubing are much the same and will work on any system. Generally speaking drip irrigation is designed for low-pressure water. If you are on regular city water, you will need a pressure regulator between the faucet and the mainline tubing. In addition to the mainline, you will need -inch feeder tubing, which comes in rolls of 50-feet. The feeder tubing connects to the mainline with small barbed connectors. You will need to purchase a hole punch to create a place for the barb. Buy the more expensive one; its worth it. After youve punched about 100 holes, your hands will thank you. If you are irrigating odd-shaped beds or want to connect multiple mainlines, you will need a variety of -inch connectors, which come as Ts, elbows and straight connectors. I always buy a good supply, since I may have to change the conguration of the system during the growing season. Also, if a section of mainline is damaged, it is easier to cut out the damaged section and replace it. You will need some straight connectors to attach the new section. Finally, you need to determine if you will use sprinklers or drippers. Sprinklers come in a 90-degree spray pattern, 180-degree or 360-degree. Personally, I have found the half-circle sprinklers (180-degree) the most useful. Drippers are used for permanent plantings, like shrubs or trees. Dripper buttons are available in a range of sizes, from -gallon per hour to a gallon an hour. Drippers tend to get clogged more readily than sprinklers, so you will need to keep an eye on them otherwise you might not know that your beloved lemon tree isnt getting any water, until its too late. Now for some tricks. You can cut both mainline tubing and feeder tubing with a pair of scissors; however sharp garden pruning shears do a better job of making clean, straight cuts. Small amounts of dirt, plant material and bugs can clog even the bestdesigned system. When you lay out your system, be sure to let water run through the mainline for a minute before closing off the end. This will ush out most of the gunk. Two simple, homemade tools are indispensable for keeping my system functional. The rst is a 12-inch long piece of 1/8-inch diameter metal rod, which I salvaged from a broken chicken feeder. It is just the right size for reaming out the risers that hold the sprinkler heads. Second, a 10- to 12inch piece of straightened baling wire is used for cleaning out the sprinkler heads. Finally, I keep a small garden tote stocked with a variety of connectors, barbs, sprinkler heads, drippers, hose washers, hole punch, and extra feeder tubing along with my cleaning tools readily available for quick and easy repairs. With a minimum of planning and a bit of work laying things out, you too can sit back on the porch in the summer sun and let the irrigation system do all of your watering chores this year.
