Students are expected to:(A) listen responsively to a speaker by framing inquiries that reflect an understanding of the content and by identifying the positions taken and the evidence in support of those positions; Time: Procedures and Objectives for Lesson Activities: Materials Needed: 90 Minutes Students will examine their own ideas about the Holocaust, watch portions of a film about one young womans experiences at that time and reflect on their feelings and thoughts through writing and discussion Teacher: One Survivor Remembers video, prepared questions Students: writing utensil KWL Chart 10 Minutes Introduce the days agenda. Objective(s): Students will fill out a KWL chart with information about the Holocaust Share with the class that today, they will be: You will have already drawn a KWL chart on the board. Ask the students what they already know about the Holocaust. They are encouraged to use information they learned last time in their station rotations and history classesTell them that you are aiming for at least 5 pieces of information. List the students answers on the board as they speak. Once you have filled in the K portion of the KWL chart, ask them for at least 5 things they hope to learn about the Holocaust in todays lesson. After writing these things on the board in the L column, let students know that today they will be Watching portions of a documentary about a womans experience during the Holocaust. Tell them that you will be stopping the movie to ask them questions. They will answer these questions in their writers notebooks. Also, let them know that they are expected to watch this movie with maturity and respect for both their peers and the subject matter. Each answer will be worth 15 points. These 15 points will come from the following criteria: Did the student answer the question accurately? Did the student pay attention to the film? Is the answer genuine the answer thoughtful Did he or she include number of sentences required to answer that question?
