Pop Quiz Character Development

1. Name 3 personality traits of your character: Nervous Guilty Shy 2. Describe how you used dramatic techniques to show each of these traits: For my voice I used a soft voice so that the character seemed to be nervous and shy. I walked away from the other character to show that I was nervous and I felt guilty. I walked slowly in all over the place because my character was really nervous. My character body gestures suggest Im shy and nervous because I put my hands in my pockets or to myself. I looked at the floor most of the time and I looked sad. 3. Explain how you use space to show an aspect of the relationship between you and another character in your performance script: I usually stepped away from the other character and kept a distance away from him because he was angry at me and Im a little bit scared of him. At first before the argument I was also sitting near him because we were friends so we were near each other. 6. What did you find hardest during your character work: One thing I found really hard was working with my partner Jacob. In a lot of times he wasnt really focusing so it was hard to practice. It would have been easier if he focused. Also one thing that was hard with working with my partner was that he didnt have his script. He lost his script since the first lesson so it was really hard for him to remember his lines. When he couldnt remember his lines it was hard for me to practice with him. Also when I typed the script for him after he lost his script he lost his script again. So with him not remembering his lines during the performance he only remembered 1-2 lines and that made it very difficult to perform what I had practiced. Another thing that was hard to practice was that when we didnt have the script Jacob couldnt write the notes I wrote for the performance. For example, we decided on which line we would stand up and which line we would do each action. So when he didnt have a script to write it down it was really difficult for him to

remember this. I think that if Jacob focused more and paid more attention to this task we could have been more successful. Another thing that was really hard for me was remembering the script. The script wasnt that long compared to last year but we had less time to practice. The script also repeated itself sometimes and some of the script didnt really make sense.
