Animal Walks
Create lively relays with animal walks. Divide the class into several teams and have the players stand behind a starting line. Set out a few cones to mark the path (straight, zigzag, or weave around a line of cones) for each team. Then, explain to the players how they will move through the course. Be sure to keep the activity fun by changing the animal walk for each round of play: Game 1lumber along like a bear, Game 2leap like a deer, Game 3 walk like a crab, and so on. You may also wish to include other challenges at certain points along the path, such as walking along a taped line on tiptoes or heels or balancing a beanbag on the shoulder or top of head while walking. Add your own creative ideas to keep the animal-walk relays fresh and engaging! Alternatively, enlarge and copy the pictures below on card stock. Laminate the sheet for durability and then cut out the cards. Create fitness challenge stations throughout a large open space by setting out the equipment and the directions with pictures for performing certain movements.

BLooming Science
As a class, brainstorm a list of various plants (tall trees, garden flowers, trailing vines, etc.). Then, have students become many of the different kinds of plants described. Begin by instructing students to spread throughout the room, allowing plenty of space between them. Lead the class in a series of yoga-like stretches as they start as tiny seeds, grow roots and stems, and blossom into mature plants. As you and the students form each type of plant, be sure to point out the key parts, such as the seed, roots, leaf, and flower/ fruit. Also, talk about basic plant needswater, air, and lightand incorporate any other key plant terms you are studying.
