MAGIC CUBE TECHNOLOGY

This product emits infrared light from the lower end of the product to detect objects such as fingers. When an object passes through the area illuminated by the infrared light source, any infrared light reflecting off the object is detected by the sensor. Information on the position and movement of the object is then analyzed to perform the products role as a keyboard.

Both of the products connect with Bluetooth, though there is a USB plug in mode as well, which is used primarily for charging the devices. That is good news when you consider that the battery life is only two hours. Thus far the two devices are expected only to work with Windows XP/Vista or 7, and on Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, and Symbian-based mobile devices.

Identifying Parts and their Functions

(1) Projector: Uses a red laser to project the image of a keyboard onto a flat surface in front of the typist. (2) Sensor: Picks up the infrared light reflected off the typists fingers and triangulates the location of the reflected light to determine which key was pressed. This sensor provides a keyboard function. (3) IR Light Window: Uses an infrared laser to emit an invisible plane of light a few millimeters above the projection surface so that the infrared light can be reflected off of the typists fingers to the sensor. This product emits infrared light from the lower end of the product to detect objects such as fingers. When an object passes through the area illuminated by the infrared light source, any infrared light reflecting off the object is detected by the sensor. Information on the position and movement of the object is then analyzed to perform the products role as a keyboard. Sensitivity: difference in thickness, shape, and color of the users fingers or operating environment result in differences in the amount of reflected infrared light. If the amount of reflected infrared light is appropriate, the sensor will have no problem detecting objects such as fingers. However, if the amount of reflected infrared light becomes low because of the causes mentioned above or some other cause, the keystroke recognition rate may decrease or your keystrokes may not be recognized at all. On the other hand, if the amount of reflected infrared light is too high, the keystroke recognition may become too sensitive or a hovering effect may occur.

Projection keyboard brightness adjustment

Power save mode

1. Press and hold FN and tap BACK key to disable laser projection 2. To reactivate laser projection, tap in the operation area with 3 fingers (3 fingers must be separated)

Switching between keyboard and mouse mode

1. From keyboard mode, press and hold FN and tap on cursor button, located adjacent to space bar to switch to mouse function. Blinking LED indicates mouse mode.

2. From mouse mode, tap on cursor button to switch back to keyboard mode. Solid LED indicates keyboard mode.

EVOMOUSE TECHNOLOGY

With EvoMouse, the firm Celluon offers a new way to interact with your computer, halfway between the mouse and the motion sensor. The invisible mouse is reality! The evoMouse is presented by its creators as the evolution of the mouse , as its name suggests. This is a small device that connects via USB or Bluetooth to a computer, which has laser sensors that detect movements by the user. This device can perform actions such as with an ordinary mouse, except that there is no mouse. Actions similar to those made on a touch pad complement the opportunities for interaction with the device, which manages the multitouch and handwriting recognition. To some extent, evoMouse recalls keyboards projection that allows, for some time now, projecting a keyboard onto a surface to move a bulky device. According Celluon, such a device instead of a mouse brings not only new interactions with the computer, but also reduces tension in the wrist. Celluon has not yet announced pricing and availability for evoMouse, which will probably be put on the market this year. The mouse, sometimes it is your best friend and sometimes it is the carpal tunnel inducing, hand cramping pain in the buttocks, but what if it didnt have to give you those cramps? What if

instead of forcing your hand to conform to the position it wants you in, it would let you use your natural hand, in whatever way you want? With the plethora of mouse alternatives available or in development youd be forgiven for thinking the humble computer mouse was some kind of torturous device inflicted upon computer users. But despite challengers such as the trackball, the WOW-PEN Joy, the Ergo Slider Plus, the Orbita Mouse and the Air Mouse just to name a few the mouse has maintained its dominance while remaining largely unchanged since its unveiling in 1968. Now theres another alternative cursor relocation device set to hit the market called the evoMouse that turns just about any flat surface into a virtual track pad with your finger as the pointer.

The evoMouse is the evolution of the computer mouse. With the evoMouse, your finger is your pointer and there is no more pushing around a physical mouse. Two infrared sensors that form the eyes of the small animal-shaped device track the users finger movements to provide the full gamut of mouse functionality such as click and select, double-click, right-click, drag and drop and even multi-touch functionality such as rotate and pinch to zoom. The evoMouse Pet looks like a small box with legs, almost like a crouching animal. The mouse then projects are area in which your hands can function as if you really were using a mouse. Your fingers movements are then similar to the mouse that you already use, allowing you to move the cursor, click, and double-click, right-click and drag. It also supports the pinch-to-zoom and rotates functions in Windows 7. The evoMouse can even be used for drawing or is that finger painting? While a handwriting recognition feature lets you write with your finger or a pen. Theres also an optional key mat that allows the evoMouse to be used as a portable, full-sized QWERTY keyboard.

The device works on nearly any flat surface and requires only a small amount of space, with the size of the unit itself also making it a good option for taking on the road. It can be operated wirelessly via a Bluetooth connection or wired via USB, which will also charge the units battery to provide around two hours of wireless running time. It is compatible with PCs or laptops running Windows XP, Vista or 7, and Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and Symbian devices.
