According to the state of North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards, teachers are responsible for teaching according to several standards with one of the main goals in mind, to bring forth an education to prepare students for the 21st century. I feel by actively participating in the decision making process in regards to the technology I will use, demonstrates my role as a leader, a teacher who facilitates learning in the classroom, as well as incorporate 21st century technology that I believe my students will greatly benefit from, as well as actively engage in the learning process via the use of up-to-date technology that may not otherwise be afforded to them outside of my classroom. It is greatly beneficial for teachers to be knowledgeable in the latest technology if we are to have any say in the technology that will be incorporated in our classrooms. As facilitators of learning as well as leaders both in and out of the classroom, it is important that we are familiar with how to utilize the very equipment we will be allowing our students to use for various assignments. In the even that teachers arent included in the decision making process, we should at the very least, be instructed on how to use the equipment that will be provided to us to ensure that we, again, are leaders when it comes to facilitating learning as well as are able to teach on a 21st century level.
