Every scene is a unity Connected with realism: to show a whole series of events T.Williams needs a long time to present the story: We understand that the plat takes seven or six month, we need all this time to past, we need these references until we have the final sece Arrival/ Birth/ Departure Story of someone invaded and the consecuences of that invesion Invasion: arrival and departure.

two main parts: ACT 1 and ACT 2 WE need a second one to reinforce the repetition, but we don't need a third one The need to repeat everything again

Zoo Story 1958 In between absurb and realism the play was received as an absurb play City life and city experiences have demonstrated that the zoo story shows close and realistic situation. Central Park . Someone sitting ina Sunday evening. An Urban Play: life of big cities. These character have to be considered under the context of big city. Modern City. New York City. Central Park. 1 Act It may be dividied into 3 units: introduction, jerry and the dog an the end But Albee concises the action

Jerry leads the action, starts the conversation, pushes Peter out of the Bench, and force Peter to kill him. Encounter: this is was Jerry looking for He wants to tell his life to someone, he wants the other one to encounter Invasion, incounter, connection. Long Scene, recognition. ?????? Death? Final scene: a way to death ??? The Tempest: the story starts in the middle. In media res. ? Story and Plot: The play stars: jerry meets Peter. The story is the background of each character. Before that we have: Jerry and the Dog,Jerry and the Landlady. Story is longer than the play. The story goes long before and the story could continue. Plot: actual presentation of the events. What we have from then and on Albee decides to start his play with Jerrys encounter, then Jerry and the Dog. The plot is the actual disposition of events. The plot is the real creation, stories are similar, well known The art of the writes / play writer is to combine the events Albee combine these events in this way. how writers combines the events that is plot. (organization of the events Distinction form Peter and Jerry: Peter: bourgois background, family, dog, well dress. And Jerry is the other way. They stands for different social backgrounds. Jerry is the talkative, active, the one who knows world beyond central pary, walking beyond the familiar limits

Popular magazines in the States. New York and all the different places where Jerry Walks.

Caretaker ( 1960) Absurb Space that pinters presents has characteristics of being absurb. The many objects spread out the room. Not ina realistic room, not a room, something else

3 ACTS Pinter needs some time for the presentation of this situation: Davies arrives and Davies departs: Pinter needs certain moments to introduce these moments Simetry between the three acts and the three characters, simmetrical shape.

Invasion. Arrival and Depature: Someones arrives and you have the effects: someone has to depart. ( Blanche and Davies must depart)

WE know very little about the character. Mike: very little about him. Aston's brother. He helps Aston, he makes him caretaker of his premises. Davies: what he says is a lie. An outcast. No place, no money, nothing to eat. underdog. Aston and Mick. Strange characters. Dealing with universal question.

Who they are? What are they purposes in life? Ambiguity. Identity. Mick knows about decoration and some stories and how to deal with Davies, He is the owner, the one who unsmaked Davies. Ambiguious identity: Where are Davies paper? When will go for them? S When the weather changes Aston's shed: not goinf to be build, Davies: Old man: generational clash, having this old man departing to nowhere ( what shall I do? Where am I going to do ?) Davies: a father invading the life of his sons, Freudian interpretation. Generational gap. Different vital p processes.

Invaded Space

How character will defend their territory Room: symbol of the only place where you can be yourself, the refuge Humans womb: the only secure place. The moment we are born, our problems starts, coming out is dealt with the hostility of the room. Oustide room is a place of danger. The room can not be closed forever, the dorr the door opens and you have to dealt with danger The play between act 1 and 2 we have very little time and then we have 2 weels artificial disposition of time,. Not chronological development is important, we get involved in this chaos, but time is not longer important. The pla develops and the direction of the action is a negative, time will demonstrate that Davies intentions are negative. Davies is the enemy. Dense characters Chaos

Decoration is the intertext. Mick is telling Davies what he will have to do if he stays as the caretaker: references to carpetsCity is another intertext Mick refers to London , all the places he mentions exists, confussing.
