Jesus Christ as Judge


I. Jesus Christ was given the right to judge and crush Satan in the Adamic Covenant Gen. 3:15. II. Christ judged Satan at the cross Jn. 12:31; 16:11. III. Jesus was made lower than angels Heb. 2:7, equal with man Phil. 2:5-8. A. Therefore, He is equal with man and equal with God Heb. 1:3; 2:14-17. B. It was through Christ that all things came into being Jn. 1:3; Heb. 2:10. C. Through death, He conquered death because He satisfied the righteousness and justice of God Heb. 2:14-15; 1 Cor. 15:54-57. D. He is the propitiation for the sins of the entire world 1 Jn. 2:2. E. He did not die for only the elect, therefore He will judge all people: Believers - 2 Cor 5:10; and Unbelievers - Rev. 20:11-15. F. He is the only one worthy to break the seals of judgment in the Tribulation Rev. 5:5-13. IV. Consequently, all judgment is given to the Son Jn. 5:22. A. God the Father gave authority to God the Son because He, God the Son is the Son of Man Jn. 5:27. Because Jesus became man and was equal with both God and man, all judgment was given to Him. B. His judgment is not on His own, but according to the will of the One who sent Him Jn. 5:30. C. The Father and the Son are one in the trinity Jn. 8:16. 1. He is not alone in judgment Jn. 8:16. 2. The two witnesses in the courtroom of heaven are God the Son and God the Father Jn. 8:17,18. D. God the Father is making all enemies a footstool for judgment for the Son Ps. 110:1; Heb. 1:13. E. God the Father will subject all things to Him 1 Cor. 15:23-28._
