Classroom Management Plan Angela Rosales SED 3312 M at 5:30 to 8:15 1.

What do you plan to post on the walls / boards / Powerpoint for students to refer to each day? I plan to write the lesson for the day on the board and I also plan to include a need box, the box will tell the students what I expect them to have in class, including homework and paper, if they dont listen and forget to bring something in I will write myself a note in a notebook reminding me what that student forgot and how they are behaving. 2. In what form will you post the TEKS objective for the day and where will it be posted? (Write a sample Objective for the Day for your subject area). As I described above, I will write out my lesson on the board along with the TEKS. An example might be: Objective: This lesson is needed to provide students the basic understanding of classification and understand that there are several other kingdoms that are different and similar to the animal kingdom. State Requirements: 1. TEKS/STAAR: (112.34)(C)(9)(B) categorize organisms using a hierarchical classification system based on similarities and differences shared among groups 2. TEKS/STAAR: (112.34)(C)(9)(C) compare characteristics of taxonomic groups, including Achaea, bacteria, protists, fungi, plants, and animals. 3. Where will you stand between classes and how will you greet students before they enter your classroom? As students enter the room I will be standing outside the door, greeting the students as they come in. As they come in I will remind them what they have to do and give them positive feedback in regards to the last class. 4. What will student do upon entering your classroom?

Students will automatically start on their warm-up and take out what they need (from the need box) for the day on their desk. 5. What is the cue that class has begun? As soon as the teacher closes the door, the class will have begun. 6. What kind of Warm-up will you use? (What will be the purpose of the Warmup?) The students will write in their journals what they remember form the last class and the teacher will post a question on the board that also pertains from the last class and students must answer it in their notebook. The warm-up will allow the students time to remember what they already know so I can build on that knowledge. It will also allow me to see at what level the students are on and what they need help with. 7. How will you collect homework from students? The homework must be on the table at the start of the class and as I go around checking if the students are prepared, I will collect the homework. 8. What will you use as an auditory cue that you are ready to speak? When will you begin to speak? What will you do if students begin talking to one another when you are speaking? The students will be timed when they are doing their warm-up with a timer. Once the timer goes off, all eyes must be on me and they must be read to listen. If I a stop in the middle of the lecture and I must get the students attention, I will get the students attention by saying, Okay all eyes and ears must be on me right now. I will only speak when there is complete silence when I see everybody sitting up and ready to listen. If there are students begin to talk while Im talking, I will stop and wait for a minute and if they continue to speak then I will call them out and remind them that when I am speaking everybody must stop and listen. I will then right down in my notebook who was talking and at what time. 9. List the standards for behavior you will post in your room. 1) Students must respect their fellow class mates at ALL times. 2) The class will adhere to the expectations the teacher has for the students. 3) Students must raise their hand if they have a question. 4) Students and teacher will be respectful when others are talking. 5) Students and teacher will treat others the way they want to be treated

6) In this class, we are a community of learners, students and teacher must help, encourage and correct each others behavior 10. List the levels of punishment/consequences you will use for noncompliance with the standards. (Example: What is the punishment the first time a student is non-compliant with a request or doesnt follow the standards of the classroom?) (What is the punishment/consequenc the second time the same student is noncompliant?) Be very specific. At the start of the day students will be told the lesson for the day and the expectations. I will also have students read the rules out loud at the beginning of each class. 1. If I see a student misbehave I will stand by the student and politely ask him to correct his behavior according to the rules. 2. If the student persists I will make an announcement that the class is a community and we are all supposed to work together to ensure everybody is listening and respecting each other and the teacher. 3. If the student continues, I will ask the student to step outside with me and ask him to tell me: why I asked him to step outside, why that behavior is unacceptable, what he or she will do to correct this behavior. I will then explain to the student the options he has at that time, he will either behave and stay in class or if he continues to misbehave he will be seated next to my desk, facing the wall, completing worksheets that must be completed by the end of the class. If he continues, he will be seated automatically next to my desk and I will explain that the next time he misbehaves a letter will be sent out to his parents and he will be going to the office. If he continues I will ask him to sign a letter, that will be sent to his parents explain that the student had been disrespectful to his classmates, the letter will explain the steps done to correct his behavior and due to his choose, he will be receiving an F for the day. The student will also be sent to the office to speak with the principal and will still have to complete the worksheets in the principals office.

11. When will students sharpen pencils? At the start of the class 12. What will you do when students do not have materials (books, pencil, paper?) What procedure will you use and what is your plan to prevent this from happening again?

I will write down a note in mu notebook and after 3 times, I will send a letter to the parent reminding them that students are expected to come to school prepared and that this students has not been bringing in their materials. If this continues to happen then I will have to start deducing points from their grade every time they dont come pre-paired. 13. How will you determine if a student is allowed to go to the restroom? They can only go to the restroom before class. Unless I have a doctors notice and nurse approval of the notice, that they may go to the restroom when they ask. 14. How will you determine if a student is allowed to go to the nurse? If at the beginning of class, I see a student that seems ill, if during class I notice something odd (Color of their skin changes) or if the student comes to me before class and notifies me that they feel ill. I will then call the nurse and notify him or her that there will be students by such name, heading to her office to visit her. 15. How will you decide if a student needs to be referred to the assistant principal? If I have already tried everything I could t handle the student and nothing seems to work, I will then refer the student to the assistant principal. I will also call him or her to notify them that such student will be heading to thier office. 16. When should parents be contacted? I will be in constant communication with the parent and I will contact them if something great happens and if something is hindering their childs capability to learn more in school, that the parent must intervene in before the students grades start to slip. 17. Who will determine seat assignments in your classroom? During the first couple of weeks they will sit in alphabetical order. Once I can see what my class room dynamics are and learn the personalities of my student will I rearrange the class according their personalities and capabilities to disrupt my class. 18. Describe the suggestions Dr. Mullinnix shared for conferencing with students. Dr. Mullinnix has suggested that when speaking to students you always want to keep it private with the student. The teacher should never embarrass the student in front of other students and its best to talk to them outside of the class. 19. Describe strategies you would use to encourage a student to begin working rather than chatting with friends during quiet work time.

At the beginning of each class I will tell them what I have planned for them and what I except of them for the period. I will try to make the lessons as entertaining to the students as possible and they will only be able to participate in the activity if they behave as I except them to behave, if they are disrespectful they will have to do worksheets alone. 20. Describe strategies you would use to encourage a class of reluctant students to do their homework. Make the class a point based system where if they dont do the homework they lose point. At a certain point the student with the most points gets to pick a pass (bathroom, homework, computer lab, library, reading time). I will also get the parents involved and ask them to support the point based system and explain to them how this will help their student and how they can help encourage their student to do homework. 21. Attach a floor plan of your ideal classroom. Be sure to include student desks, teacher desk, white boards, doors, computer(s), etc.
