UWIF Screenwriting Contest

Ocial Rules 1. Entries must be received by midnight, June 20, 2012 2. As a green initiative, entries are accepted online only, in PDF format. -Email to UWIFcontest@gmail.com -Payment may be made through PayPal (preferred), or by check. -Check should be made out to UWIF and sent to: Susan Phelan - UWIF Contest 1260 East 50 North Springville, UT 84663 3. Entries may include up to 3 screenwriters per script. ALL screenwriters for each entry must sign the Entry Form and Release Form. At least ONE screenwriter on the script must be female and from Utah. 4. There is no limit to the number of screenplays you may enter. Each screenplay must include everything listed in rule #5. 5. All entries must include - original screenplay (5-10 pages, not including title page) - separate page containing both a synopsis and a one to three sentence pitch - (in WORD or PDF) - completed entry form - signed release form - entry fee(s) 6. In order to keep work anonymous, screenwriters names should not be included in the body of the script, the title page or the synopsis/pitch page. Any personal identifying information should only be found on the entry form, release form, and fee payment. SCRIPTS WITH NAMES WILL BE RETURNED. All entries will be tracked by a numbering system. 7. Any screenplay entry MUST NOT have been previously published, sold, optioned, produced, etc. when entered. It must be ORIGINAL to the screenwriters and written in English. No adaptations of published/lmed work will be accepted. Entry MAY be copyrighted or registered with the WGA. 8. Industry professionals will be judging the competition. A point system will be used to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Synopsis and pitch will be used at the discretion of the judges. Grand Prize will be chosen by the UWIF Board of Directors. 9. All entrants will receive a copy of their completed judging sheets, one set per individual/ team. Grand Prize winner, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will also receive one page of coverage on submitted screenplay (worth $75). GRAND PRIZE will receive the opportunity to have one full-length screenplay read and critiqued by a professional screenwriter (worth

$750). Full-length screenplay must be submitted by August 31, 2013. Winners will also be listed on the UWIF website and receive recognition at the next UWIF meeting. 10. GRAND PRIZE screenplay will be produced by UWIF. UWIF will retain rights to the screenplay and winner will receive $50. 11. FEES: UWIF members in good standing (dues paid) may submit up to ve scripts for free.* Any scripts over ve will have a $20 entry fee. Non-members must pay $20 per entry per script. No limit on the number of scripts entered. *If a script has more than one writer and only one is a UWIF member, the fee per entry is $10 per script. 12. Entrants under 18 MUST have parent/guardian signature on ENTRY FORM. 13. Members of the UWIF Board of Directors may not enter the contest. 14.
