Introduction My friends, most of us find ourselves busy during the week and we hope that what we do means something,

creates something, makes the world a better place. In todays Gospel, Jesus tells us that our work will bear fruit if we live in him, stay connected to him, do all that we do for and with him. Let us pray today for the fruitfulness of our efforts.

Children who will be 5 years old by December 31, 2012, and not attending MSA, should enroll in the parish catechetical program which begins September 2012. Application forms are now available in the Sacristy, the Rectory Office (236-9866), and from Mrs. Maria Pacheco, the Parish Catechetical Coordinator. All Kindergarten applications must include a Baptism certificate and the Registration fee. CCD fees are $135 per student per year with cheques made payable to St. Patricks Church. Paul to discuss an appeal for assistance or special consideration. Returning CCD Students CCD students presently registered in the program need to complete the form enclosed with the family invoice that was sent home with your child. Catholic Questions & Answers Could you explain the custom of taking a "confirmation name"? It seemed to be required when I was younger but I don't think it is anymore. Answer
The custom of adopting a saints name at confirmation was done in order to adopt the saint as a special heavenly patron or to honor a saint to whom one had a special devotion. In short, the purpose was to give the confirmand the opportunity to develop his understanding of and reliance on the communion of saints. While the practice is still in use today, some dioceses have encouraged returning to the older tradition of not picking a new name at confirmation. The idea is that the person is already supposed to have a Christian name, given to him in baptism, and that continuing to use that name at confirmation will serve as a link between these two sacraments of Christian initiation.
