Orkans Slaughterers History Originating from the Space Wolves Legion, Orkans Slaughterers were a force sent into

the Eye of Terror by Leman Russ in order to find the Primarch Magnus the Red. However, the powers of the warp were strong, and the Gellar fields protecting the Battle Barge malfunctioned and Khornes frenzy swept through the ship. Of the 600 Marines on the ship, only 300 survived the madness, some turning to their bestial forms, others being torn apart by both daemon and fellow marine. The survivors, led by the Wolf Guard Orkan Blood-drinker as he was to be known as by his men, took the Barge through the warp until it found a planet inhabited by a Chaos Renegade legion. The Renegades were almost totally wiped out, the few who were saved were those deemed worthy to fight with the Slaughterers. Khornes wrath continued to take hold until they began to spill blood not for enjoyment but for the Blood god himself. When the planets lifeforms were annihilated, Orkan and his followers found a cache of Legion Bikes and, seeing the speed at which blood could be spilt, they took them back to the Battle Barge. Now Orkans Slaughterers speed across the galaxy, appearing in and out of the Warp, swarming over systems, killing and claiming warriors until they move on, the population of the planets they touch shredded and maimed. They now encroach on the Chonus System where they find their greatest challenge, the Space Marine Chapter known as the Void Fangs. Culture As a faction originally of the Space Wolves, the Slaughterers armour is made mostly of Space Wolf power armour. The influence of Khorne has altered the armour of some, particularly those of the chosen bikers, whose blades are dried with blood and the tyres grind bones under tread. There are only warriors and killers in the ranks of the slaughterers, needing no intellectuals or charmers. The only profession of the legion is that of weapons-craft, though this is only when their blades can cut no longer. When the Slaughterers are not killing and marauding across planets, they are heading to their next destination of destruction. Unlike most followers of Khorne, the Bike-mounted warriors, known as The Red Tide, have a love for something other than battle. Orkan made it strictly clear that a bikers mount is worth more than the man riding it, that each rider must care to his

bike and if it is to be destroyed the rider must go berserk, ultimately following his bike to oblivion. If a Berserker survives a planet raid, he is sent below decks to see no food or water until the next planet is reached. If it is the end of a system raid the berserkers may spend months without food, resorting to cannibalism. Those who survive are often the leaders of the Berserker packs when another planet is reached, not by commission of Orkan, for he cares even less of these damned then he does for his bikers, but instead the stronger the fighter, the more power he holds over his brethren. This animalistic hierarchy gives the unity and formation that makes the maddened killers that little more deadly. Due to the frequency of rider and bike both being obliterated, the need for a supply of vehicles is high. Some choose to make their own, often the ones more adept with an anvil and hammer. Others scavenge bikes from the corpses of either their fallen comrades, at which point the damned become redeemed, or from taking the counterpart from another race, most commonly Orks and loyalist Space Marines, for their vehicles make the most deafening sound and are the most aggressive to ride. The recruitment for a Slaughterer is often a trial by combat. Warriors who last longer than most on their planet, or simply one who has claimed more lives than most will be captured by the Marines rather than killed and given the opportunity for a position in the ranks of the riders of Khorne. This makes a number of the riders only loyal to save their lives, but even they do not last long against the overpowering will of Khorne. Combat Doctrine The killing style of the Slaughterers is a fast and vicious assault. There are only two variants in the force, the main bulk of the combatants being the bikers, and the fallen Berserkers. The bikers, unlike most who use this method of transport, use their bikes as a means to reach the combat in the shortest time, rather than running rings around the enemies and firing from afar. Because of this, many of the riders choose to chain their wrists to their bike handlebars in order to cleave enemies with their weapons whilst keeping control of their vehicles. There are a small number of bikers, those who are more proficient with weaponcraft, who alter the weapons on their mounts for specialised attacks, such as anti-infantry and anti-vehicle combat. The Berserkers follow behind the riders, acting more like the wolves the Space Wolves use in combat than actual marines. Moving as a pack, the Berserkers tend to get the weaker more

cowardly enemies to kill, as well as the task of finishing off those wounded by the bikers. Organisation The Slaughterers are one single fighting force upon one single Battle Barge. This means that in order to be most efficient when killing, they must most as a sole entity, killing as one. When they travel across the planets they invade they ride in single file to make the army seem smaller. They move at night in order to make their detection even harder. And when they attack, The Red Tide acts like a wave crashing down upon the panicking enemies, reducing them to a scattered and pathetic rabble.

Orkan Blood-Drinker Orkan was originally a Wolf Guard of the 3rd Space Wolf Company, before and during the Horus Heresy. When Leman Russ sent out the Battle Barge Iron Claw after Magnus the Red into the Eye of Terror, Orkan was one of many, of 600 marines, 50 were wolf guard. The Blood-Drinker was known for his brutality and speed when wielding his giant Power Axe, swinging the blade as though it were a feather, even before he turned to Khorne. This then probably explained why the blood good took a liking to the violent warrior, granting him luck in the bloodbath, which claimed half the marines on board and all the crew. His brutal attitude towards his brethren and the vast quantity of skulls claimed slowly turned his bloodthirsty blade into an embodiment of violence itself. With each kill, its axe head cracked and grew, eventually becoming more and more brutal. Orkans armour is the same as that which he entered the warp in, the wolf helmet now red with blood. His bike is similar to his warriors, save for a few ornaments he has chosen to acquire such as skulls of his victims. Orkans military tactics are a majority of hit and run styles, where his bikers swarm an enemy like wasps, or like a wolf pack. This ability to command his men without issue makes the Slaughterers a formidable enemy to face.
